I've come here multiple times over numerous years and have almost always had really good experiences. Was most recently here for dinner and got the duck fat burger which was delicious- it reminded me of an elevated in n out burger in the best way possible. We also got the bulgogi meatballs to share which were amazing. Brunch has always been good too - try the day's pop tart special. Service is prompt and attentive and the space has great street watching views while still being cozy and intimate. Good for groups and dates.

Stopped at Wild Roots for lunch on a beautiful Friday afternoon towards the end of September. Wild Roots has a condensed menu, and the duck fat burger stands out. It might be the best burger in Milwaukee. It's certainly superior to the Oscar's and Sobelman's burgers. It makes ordering anything else off the menu difficult. While the restaurant wasn't crowded, the minimal staff had difficulty keeping up. In fact, our bartender might have been the only server. She worked her tail off. I will return to Wild Roots and will force myself to order something other than the stellar hamburger.

I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talk about Wild Roots! It was a busy little spot Friday night. Small, curated menu with lots of meat and veggie options. The nasty bits were a fun try for the table. Excited to go back to check out their other menus.

I asked for lunch recommendations from some local folk at a trade show I was at. They suggested Wild Roots as well a cheese shop across the street (will stop there next time). Man, So. Much. Flavor. I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. But: delicious. The fries seemed like they were handmade for me, and the sandwich was a cacophony of flavor, I was a little sad I broke the egg yolk before I picked it up, but plate dipping was just fine.I asked the best spot to sit solo and they reminded me that outside was an option, so I sat outside. Mid day it's a quaint little area with minimal traffic so it was a nice lunch.Definitely stop by if you haven't before you won't regret it!

Wild Roots exceed my expectations. We were in the area looking to celebrate a birthday and found this gem. Service was top notch, they were super friendly and personable. The cocktail menu was endless with so many unique flavor combinations. Everyone at our table ordered a cocktail and they were all freshly made and had so much flavor. The Friday bluegill fish fry was delicious. It was hot and crispy and came with a coleslaw that was made with ginger that was surprisingly amazing. The dessert list was extensive, we ordered the warm cheesecake pastry w/ice cream, Yum!This place definitely took me by surprise with the quality. I really can't say enough good things about this place, I image I will be back frequently.

I had been eyeing wild roots for the longest as I follow them on Facebook and was always intrigued by their burger creations they post. I was finally able to make it in and ordered the duck fat burger with a side salad. I was confused when I started eating the salad and it tasted like it had been salted. It was really salty and it made it unpleasant to eat. The burger tasted fine, it was nothing special in my opinion. My friend ordered a side of fries that we shared and I did find those to be pretty good. She also ordered a noodle dish that was tasty, so I wouldn't write this place off as I would be open to trying something else. Service was a bit slow, it felt like the food wait was a bit long. The restaurant itself was cute enough inside and like I said, I may return to try something that might wow me a bit more.

Took a seat at the 6 seat bar. The bartender was engaging and friendly. The burger with duck fat was tasty but a little too rare for what was asked to be medium. Salad vs fries was a great alternative. Tv had some cartoon movie vs sports or something interesting. It's entrees are on the high end of the price point for this area but it's also the most elegant restaurant in the west side.

Went in at 4:15pm, sat down, got the only non alcoholic beer they had and was told they don't serve anything from the grill in between 4 and 5 pm other than the burger. So? Why open at 4? I came in for duck breast or hanger steak and could not order either item. I got some raw oysters, a sad beet salad (which they served to me on a huge piece of slate or something ridiculous) and ordered the burger and fries to go as I was not happy about the "grill" situation. With a tip it was $73. Ridiculous. Go to Heirloom or Good Kind in Bay View if you want this type of meal/atmosphere that is actually worth the money. Waste of my time.
