Wow!! Classic deli with a huge array of meats, brats and BEER!!! I was amazed. Mikes recommendations were stellar. I love in Minnesota, and my friend raves a oír this place. I decide to get one of each brat. The selection blew my mind. Like a "candy store" for meat and beer enthusiasts. Excellent customer service. I will definitely be coming back!

Never had stopped by before I was amazed by the selection of products available. I was there just trying something different for a package of hot dogs and brats for dinner. They even had made meals ready to go if you're in the mood. And it smelled amazing. The wine and beer selection are great and even have the odd soda selections. Definitely going back to them again.

I tried a few of their brats and they tasted really unique, my favorites where the pizza and taco brat. I also bout a bottle of tequila there and it was cheaper (only by a few bucks but hey) and WAY smoother than patron (its called Partida or something. it was clearly ultra smooth and I only drink the best (everything else just makes me sick). I also tried a pizza and it was so thick it could star in an adult film. never been disappointed by anything there and im almost willing to try new things. i used to buy steaks for me and this girl i was living with and she actually admitted to falling in love with me (steak was the key to her heart) seriously..... amazing.

The boyfriend and I ordered quite a bit of meat from Ski's for Thanksgiving -- a fresh turkey and 30 pounds of whole pork shoulder. I called ahead to make sure our order was in (they seemed confused but eventually determined that it was), and we showed up about 15 minutes later to pick everything up. We were assured that they were finishing wrapping it up "now," and told that it would just be a few minutes. Ok, fine. We hung around the meat counter and watched the world go by. Eventually someone came out of the back and started weighing and wrapping what looked suspiciously like our pork, one piece at a time (30 pounds was 4 shoulders). We were assured once again that our order would be ready shortly, and then waited some more as each item was packaged. All in all, I think we stood there for 15-20 minutes before we were able to pay and leave. Now, the meat was delicious, so no issues there. I don't have a huge problem waiting, and we weren't in a big hurry. But stuff like this, combined with their high prices and limited selection, is why I just can't get that excited about Ski's. They seemed to have plenty of employees milling around, but the fact that we were repeatedly told that our order would be ready imminently when it actually wasn't kind of annoys me, and makes me wonder how they handle things when they're actually busy. Also, I recently stopped in to look for some Christmas gifts for my family. I browsed around veeery slowly, examining items, reading labels (food allergies), and eventually bought...nothing. I just didn't see anything that seemed worth it, which surprised me, given the kind of store Ski's seems to be. Also, the entire time I was looking around, I was not once asked if I needed help. What are all those employees doing? So again, it's not that I have anything against Ski's -- I just don't have any great enthusiasm for it either.

Beings that I live right in downtown Oshkosh, I was elated when I found out that this place was going to open. Both my employer and my university are already within walking distance, so having an option for groceries sounded fantastic to me. Less driving is always bonus in my book, especially when you consider the fact that my car sucks. My second reason for being excited has much to do with my shopping habits in general. After all, when you are a male bachelor you do not tend to shop in bulk. I tend to pick up items to make meals for 2-3 days tops, or sometimes only for that evening. If I can just make a quick pit stop on my lunch break or after work to grab some stuff I need, then game on! I am the quintessential "typical guy", so connivence scores big points with me. I was tempted to post a review right after Ski's had their grand opening, but I wanted to wait until I sampled some more of the goods before doing so, and while I still have not hit up every aspect, I have enough to go on to write a decent review. First off, the store is much larger than it looks from the outside. I was taken aback by this when I first walked through the doors. It is also organized and decorated well. Somebody on their staff obviously has a flair for the eclectic. As to their stock of food, wine, produce, dairy, etc, it is sort of a hybrid between what you would typically find at a trendy big box establishment like Whole Foods, then intertwined with items typical of upper Manhattan speciality butchers. To those of you who have visited NYC, it sort of reminds me of a modernized take on Zabar's Delicatessen on 80th and Broadway. I will only comment on the items I have tried, itemized below in sub-points. Meat-Thus far, this is the aspect which has impressed me most, but considering their business model, that should not come as a surprise. The ground beef is lean, well trimmed, and delicious. It blows away anything you are going to find at Festival or Pick N Save. Steaks, much like the ground beef, are superb. Just the right amount of marbling to give you that knockout flavor, but not inundated with gristle or fat. These guys definitely know what they are doing as it relates to meat prep, and it shines though in the product. I made my Ribeye on the Foreman grill and it was absolutely sensational. I have also now tried 2 types of their sausages (the second for dinner this evening), and it is approaching some of the best Andouille I have ever had, and that is a bold statement coming from me. There is also a massive selection of types of sausage to choose from, and I hope the others are as awesome as what I have tried so far. Yum! Dairy-They have glass bottle milk of a couple of different varieties, and also hand churned butters and creams. Also, their cheese selection is wide and diverse, but hey, this is friggin Wisconsin after all. I am a big fan of Brie personally, and they have several types to choose from (that Gardina's down the street does not sell). Most of their cheeses are from specialty creameries that you are not going to track down at the big box stores. Hell, most of them I had never even heard of, but so far so good on quality. I rolled the dice on a type of Gorgonzola I had never had before to put on my salad and it was delicious. These cheeses are pricer, but of far higher quality than the norm. One item that I was expecting to see but did not find is cheese curds. This somewhat shocked me, but then again, I suppose curds have more of a blue collar type of connotation and this place is thematically going for top shelf. Produce- All the items you would need to make a salad or a nice stir fry, with almost every item being organic and local. All I have tried so far is the Mushrooms and lettuce since Farmers Market (this being the last weekend) normally supplies most of my vegetable needs. When my current stockpile goes dry, I will likely try out many more of their offerings here, though everything certainly looks fresh and appetizing. Pre-prepared Items-So far, the only other items I have tried is a type of hot sauce and salsa that I had never had previously. Both had good flavor, just not enough heat for my taste. Though I should probably mention that I am a major fan of insanely hot sauces, salsa's and extracts, so my palate is far more advanced than your typical fan of spicy food.Overall Impression Thus Far -So far, so good. The staff here is super friendly and the quality of the meat is off the charts. I know I am bias since I live downtown, but I do not think it is out of line for me to say that we really needed this store in the neighborhood. Buying local is like a religion to many of the people who live down here, which has somewhat rubbed off on me over time. I no longer go to Starbucks for my Coffee drinks because of my relationship with New Moon, and it is highly likely that a similar dynamic will now be established with Ski's as it relates to meat purchase

Ski's is everything and more than you want it to be. Their meat cases are larger than every supermarket in town and there are better meats contained within them. They also have great bread, walls of delicious beverages (alcoholic and non), and unfortunately, I had to leave before I could fully evaluate the island of cheese. Don't take my word for it, though, you have to check it out for yourselves.

What I thought was a quaint butcher shop turned out to be much more. The outside makes you think the market is quite small - but it is not. Found great high quality meat, sauces, snacks, and a big selection of frozen items to stock up. Tried different brats - delicious.
