Had an enjoyable lunch at Valley Inn, formerly Hutterer's Hut from back in the day. I used to live across the street when I was a little girl and a good part of my extended family lived within a couple of blocks. This place was the go to bar for my grandpa and uncles. It's the exact same wood bar I remember from back on the late 1960's!.The place has been run by the original owners son for years and I had a great time catching up with him. He even still remembered many of my family members by name!Great service and food! We had fish...because it's Friday and I don't live in Wisconsin anymore and miss Friday fish frys! Looking forward to making this a regular stop each time we visit.

This place has really good service and is a nice little hidden spot. The food, however, leaves a lot to be desired. We ordered the fries, cheese bread and a cheese pizza with half sausage. The fries and the cheese bread came out quickly. The fries were hot, which was nice. The garlic bread came out pretty fast too, and it was really tasty. The pizza is where we all took issue. It came out quickly, as well, but it was underdone. If you're going to order pizza from this place, I would ask them to cook it a little longer. The cheese was melted and the toppings were hot, but there wasn't any color to the cheese and my husband didn't enjoy it at all. Other than that, I would definitely give this place a chance, knowing that if you want your pizza to be done, ask them to cook it a little longer for you. Everyone I was with had the pizza before and they said it wasn't like that when they had it in the past, so maybe it just was an off day. Otherwise, they have other items on their menu to try as well.

Ok twice now I have seen the pig sandwich on Tv this year so I decided to go and get one. Facebook says open for lunch and dinner but it is still a bar and my first drive over at lunch time I found this bar closed, The Facebook page doesn't get specific with the hours but lunch time is about 11-2 pm in my mind so I don't know why they were closed.Today I found them open at lunch time so I would finally get my long awaited pig sandwich. Around the corner with John McGivern program # 602 visited the Valley Inn and this awesome sandwich was the only food that they proudly showed for the camera. When I walked in and took my seat I asked for the menu, oddly no pig sandwich listed so I asked my server and I was told it's not on the menu. It's a secret menu item that's only been on Tv, WTF is that. Bad sign when when my server said is that the sandwich with like 6 different things on it and I said yah, this is not good. The bar it self is a nice looking older place in a good way and not a dive with a nice bar as you walk in and tables/chairs fill the rest of the place. The place looks bigger with all the mirrors that were reflecting light. The pig sandwich comes with a side and I chose frys. The pig sandwich is a breaded pork steak, bacon, onion rings, coleslaw, BBQ sauce on a pretzel bun which sounds good right and that's how they described it for the camera as aired on Tv.When my lunch came it didn't exactly look like what was served in the Tv show with no pretzel bun and I couldn't see any bacon either, when my server came back to see if it was as good as I hoped I told her it's missing the bacon because the bun was no big deal. She said she didn't know how to make it so she texted two people on how to make it and one said with bacon while the other said no bacon, the one who said no bacon should be fired, just kidding people. I said think about it it's called the pig sandwich not the pork chop sandwich because you already have that on the menu which she said makes sense. Ok I didn't get the full pig sandwich experience and she says she knows how to make it the next I come back, I'm not coming back after this. The sandwich was not bad overall because the breaded pork steak was crunchy on the out side and tender/juicy inside. The bun was soft/fresh with the crunch of the coleslaw, BBQ sauce, crunchy onion rings and that breaded pork steak was good with all the textures and flavors. The crinkle frys were fresh made to order with a crunchy shell and soft inside but not seasoned. The chilled pickle wedge is always a great addition to any sandwich. It's just not the same when one of the main flavors is left out, it's like a BLT with out the B.I can't fathom why when the cameras stopped by they served an awesome looking sandwich that's not on the menu and the cook can't recreate it accurately when someone comes in looking for one after seeing it on Milwaukee Tv, that's what got me in the door because I would have most likely never stopped here for lunch otherwise. If I was served what I saw on Tv vs what I was served this would have been a 4 star review.

Was driving down Wisconsin Ave a couple days ago listening to a 'Best Burgers in Town' talk radio conversation on WTMJ radio. Somebody called in this place and I whipped a hard right and walked in to check it out. I had already eaten so just took a quick peak at the menu and decided I had to come back. On the way out I struck up a conversation which 5 retired guys all wearing military gear and asked them how the food was. One guy who was cartoonish said the food was ok but the clientele was much better! Made me giggle as they were obviously regulars. Went back today for lunch with three 24 year olds who are relatively new to the east side. Thought they needed to see some MKE history. Food was awesome. One commented that there's no place on east side where you'd get two 1/3 lb patties on a pretzel roll for $10. Fries were good. Extensive menu - fried chicken , Reuben's and Mexican too. Daily specials. Everybody loved the burger. They have tots and sweet potato fries too. Regular fries were awesome. We all cranked our necks when a huge burrito was delivered to the table next to us. All of us will be returning.

Sometimes when I'm on my way home from downtown, my instincts take over and my car automatically guides ourselves to Valley Inn in Pigsville. Don't ask me where it is. I cannot find Valley Inn in the daytime. It's somewhere under Wisconsin Avenue. You can't get there using any GPS or Google Maps. You only can get there on instinct and intuition. And once you do find it, you're in for a great evening with most down-to-earth and friendly locals Milwaukee has to offer. This is just a great, old school hometown bar somewhere north of Miller Park, but south of Harley-Davidson's Highland Avenue plant, a little west of the Domes, and east of Wauwatosa.Find it. You'll be glad you did.

Love love love the Valley Inn. Neighborhood placed tucked out of the way. Always friendly people, and always good food. I found this little place through Miller Brewing friends who lunched here often. Daily specials, good soups and great service. Highly recommend.

Don't waste the trip. It's never open and they don't post accurate hours or answer their phone. Too bad the owners checked out years ago.
