I'd been hearing great things about this place for awhile. I don't live in the area, but I've heard it can be a dicey part of town. I went for lunch mid-week, seemed totally safe for that time. Chips were average, but the salsa was pretty good. The menu had a lot of things I wanted to try, but for me the way to judge a Mexican restaurant is by the taco selection. I had three, al pastor, lengua and cochinita pibil. I was disappoint with the lengua, it was moist and tender but not very flavorful. The pastor was good, but the cochinita pibil was fantastic! I'd order that again and again. The salsas that came in squeeze bottles were both very tasty--lots of heat and good flavor (I think I prefer the salsa verde but try them both). I've got a few more restaurants to try in Rockford, but this is definitely somewhere I'd go again.

Been here before and had the steak torta...but then I seen my neighboring table get a giant steak quesadilla and I had to try. That meant coming back to Rockford from Chicago. I was in luck. It looked great and tasted deliciously good. I will definitely be back.

This is a very typical Mexican eatery the kind you find in any town in Mexico. It's a Comedor... a diner. Nothing fancy. Simple basis fare. I generally have a traditional Mexican breakfast of Huevos Rancheros, Refried beans and Tortillas. Mostly locals eat here. Families and blue collar workers from the neighborhood. They do serve beer too for $3.00-3.50 domestic bottles. Most dinners and combos run around $4-8. There salsa is average nothing extraordinary but typical. As always I support local business.

Unbelievable that an establishment that serves food doesn't take the time to clean its front entrance. Once I entered the mostly empty restaurant I was not greeted. I then proceeded to walk up to a waitress and ask to be seated. She said I could seat myself. Once seated no one acknowledged me or gave me a food menu. After 15 minutes I got up and left. The owners of this business should be ashamed of themselves. Just a terrible experience.

Once the waitresses realize you don't aepak Spanish they ignore you. Rude when taking drink and food order and they completely ignored us the 4 times we asked for more chips to our table. There were only two other tables at the time we were there and the women working didn't even realize we had walked out until we were halfway down the block

Great Mexican food from a family run business. Salsa was great. Big menu but not overwhelming. Had the chicken enchiladas with salsa Verde, yum. Kids enjoyed the flautas. On Saturday afternoon the fruit guy shows up, yes please. Take out seems to be the main way to go. We dined in and I found the space clean, comfortable and relaxed with footie on the tv. Wow, I Just found my favorite new Mexican place in Rockford.
