Grill 164

We recently stopped in for a burger. It was probably the best burger I've ever had. We started with a bourbon and a beer. The drink was a nice pour (ask for short glass if you want to taste the liquor). We both ordered a grill burger. It was definitely a handmade beef patty cooked on the grill, not flat top. It had excellent flavor and was cooked perfectly. It comes topped with TWO nice strips of bacon, definitely grilled on flat top not deep fried. If your bacon comes out really crisp and crumbles easily; it's probably thrown into the deep fryer. They cook it to perfection!!! Also comes with grilled onions and mushrooms. Your choice of cheese topped with lettuce and tomato on a toasted bun. You also get fries but we upgraded to chili on one order and salad on the other. Both were outstanding. Chili was homemade and salad is always fresh with what tastes like homemade dressing. This has become our new go to place. Beat take out, it's always good, fresh and done when they say. Also when friends come to town it's our go to place. There fish on Friday is good but salads; coleslaw and potato salad are made with WAY to much mayonnaise. Tarter doesn't have enough dill relish either. Although most restaurants unfortunately don't know how to make tarter very good. Fish is good I'd upgrade to lettuce salad and cooked vegetables. Lastly there shrimp dinner is usually my go to dinner. It's hand dipped in batter and fried ( you can get it grilled) I get there homemade garlic mashed and salad. They also included fresh steamed vegetables.Waitress was really good and friendly.

Stopped in for a quick dinner after hiking around the lake. Ok beer selection. I had the Reuben sandwich with a side salad. The side salad was crisp and the blue cheese dressing came with a side of actual blue cheese crumbles which was awesome. The Reuben was very tasty though a bit chewy in spots. My wife enjoyed her Philly cheese steak and baked onion soup. Service was friendly and attentive and ambiance was hometown bar. Side note; we both noticed a dank odor in the building which was a bit off putting.

First off, we dine here often. Our family members, friends dine here. I estimate I've spent well over $1500 here in the past 20+ yrs. Here is my feedback:Food 4.5 starsService 2 stars, forgot things, cranky attitude, we asked for more potato salad, cole slaw, bread and we got push back. Just say, "yes, be right back."Ambiance 2 stars, I dislike walking through the little cashier/ waitress space to sit down at my table. Shut down re-model that space, re-open. Maybe move the bathrooms away from the kitchen.Overall 3 stars, not the best customer experience.

First time visiting Grill 164 and overall we were very pleased. The beer was cold and the food was tasty. An older establishment that shows its age and character along with a friendly staff. I had their signature burger which was cooked medium and was very well seasoned and juicy, I would certainly order it again. My wife had the tenderloin steak which was nicely seared and cooked to perfection! Downtown Oconomowoc has a lot of nice establishments and is always fun to visit.

Stopped in over 4th of July weekend on a Saturday afternoon. Most folks were camped out for fireworks and the place was rather empty. Kids wanted to sit at the bar, which was was offered and they have bar-rail tables designed for food service.That said, we were glad to have asked for the kids' food immediately, because we waited a full 45 minutes after placing drink and kids menu food orders before the bartender came back around. We sat idle and attempted to gain her attention multiple times, watched as regulars came to the bar, were served and attended to immediately, and when it was at last time for our order, we took it to go, tipped and left. In all we waited more than an hour for discourteous (albeit friendly) service.Unless you go often, I would not recommend this establishment as it is. I'd also skip the kids food. It was overdone and nothing special.

This place is warm, cozy and the food is delicious. Don't let the iceberg lettuce fool you. They use butter and salt to a perfect degree. The steak salad and low carb burger (with veggies) were both delicious.So glad to find a place that has good food, with no pretensions.

This is a step up from your typical bar and grill. Menu has a bit of an old school supper club feel to it. Staff seem experienced and well-trained. Everyone was working hard. Cozy feel to the bar seating area, but the ambiance in the separate dining room is a bit lacking. Thankfully, it offers extra seating space on a busy weekend night. I'm somewhere between 3-4 stars. Overall, pretty decent casual dining.

I wasn't expecting much from an $11 steak sandwich, carry out, on fish fry night but it was Excellent.

Love this place. Good is always exceptional and service is superb. Mary takes great care of her customers. Can't wait to go back.

Great service. Good fish fry and baked cod. Good old fashions. Was able to make reservation on Friday night and did not need to wait.
