A quintessential Wisconsin experience. To truly experience Wisconsin, a visit to a bar like Tippy's is a must. Tasty fried fish (walleye and perch are my favorites) served with buttered bread, potatoes and cole slaw: the fish was quite tasty; the cole slaw delicious. Sit at the bar and eat with friendly (and jovial) locals. An experience not to miss.Tippy's epitomizes the Wisconsin bar dining experience.

Burger and a beer here last night. Definitely a good place if you are a Packer fan. They have a unique miniature bowling lane in the back game room. They make a great burger - the bun was fresh and soft, the patty good sized and juicy. I tasted the onions for a while after the meal, but it went great with a cold Miller! They have a surprisingly large menu given the small grill/kitchen behind the bar. Don't come here for a gourmet meal, but if you're in need of a cold brew and a good burg with friendly service I'd give this place a thumbs-up.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. A group of 4 walked in for dinner before ax throwing. There was another 6 to join shortly after. We had an hour and 15 minutes before we had to leave to get to our appointment. After walking into the back room they notified us (in not the most friendly fashion) that they had a bowling banquet at 7:30 pm. We said that is not a problem we need to be out of here by 6:50 pm. They said they would do what they could to get our food out but no guarantees we said ok we will try (but you could tell they were aggravated). When the rest of our group walked in the owner came out and said we cannot serve you and asked us to leave. I have no issues with being too busy or there is an event when you are closed to the public. The problem I have is how they went about it and treated us. They made us feel bad for even walking in the door. We will not be back, to say the least.

Now Montana Rae's, the fried chicken is still marvelous. The 8 pc box stayed crispy and hot after a 5 minute drive home. If you like perfectly fried chicken, head to Montana Rae's. The phone number is the same as Tippy's.

Heard about the possibility of seeing the northern lights this weekend, so we decided to get out of Milwaukee & head where there was less light pollution. I saw that there were some good spots up towards door county, but we only made it as far as Two Rivers, which was fine as we were not the only one's who went there. After talking to some of the other people out there, we decided to go get something to eat & come back, as it could be a long night. It was about 8:30pm to 9:00pm & we tried a few places that had stopped serving either at 8 or 9pm. I had seen a review for this bar & one of the places suggested we go there. Thankfully we did, as they were still serving. I saw they had smelt, which is hard to come by in Milwaukee nowadays, especially good smelt, so I was set on that. They mentioned that it was fresh caught within that week, so that was the deal breaker. My husband saw walleye, but it said it was for lunch. He asked the bartender & she said no problem, she had one serving left, so she would be glad to make it for him. While we were waiting for the food, we checked out the mini bowling & they told us if we wanted to play, we could set it up ourselves, so we did. By the time we played about 4 rounds, our food was starting to come out. Everything was excellent & cooked just right. We didn't even need the tarter sauce with the fish, it was good just how it was seasoned, which they said they do themselves. They said the potato salad & cole slaw were made there as well & they were very good also. The staff & patrons were friendly & the food prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back there when I'm in the area again & I would definitely recommend it to other people. It's not a regular sit down restaurant, it's a bar, so you can either sit at the bar & eat or there are a few tables towards the back as well.

We were attending Carp Fest at Two Rivers and wanted to start bar hopping. One of the other bars told us about Tippy's. It was a small neighborhood bar that was entirely decorated with Green Bay Packers. I loved the look of the place. In the back of the bar is a small 2 lane bowling alley. We had some brandy old fashions, but did not eat.I did notice that they had a sign on the bar that they served served smelt $4.50 ....wasn't hungry yet, darn it. If you like neighborhood bars, this one fits. Serving smelt 6 days a week. Open Tues.-Suns. 11 a.m. Sandwiches, pressure-cooked food, chicken. Dine in or carry out.
