This is a small mexican convenient store and restaurant. I go there to get ripe plantains. I tried quesa-birria and chicken pambazos. Both was good. From the color I thought pambazos were more flavorful and spicy. But it was very mild. There are other authentic mexican goodies like soursop juice and peanut marzipan, which I get from time to time. Most of the staff dont understand English.

After hearing John. G rave about the Birria Tacos at Los Gemelos, I had to stop by, and let me tell you, he was spot on--they were incredibly tasty! The tacos were generously filled with meat, and the sauce added a delightful savory kick. The torta and burrito were also a hit, boasting substantial portions that left me satisfied. I appreciated the thoughtful touch of being promptly served salsa and chips upon being seated. I'm already eager to return to explore more of their menu options and pay a visit to the Mexican supermarket attached to the restaurant.

They almost kicked me out! I took a bite of the quesabirra taco and started crying. The other guests were uncomfortable and management didn't what me to be a distraction to the other patrons. Whatever. They were so good.... I had to cry. Don't judge. The quesabirra tacos were fan freaking tastic. I think they may only be available on the weekends, and today Cinco De Mayo. Very tender beef, tortilla dipped and cooked but not to a crisp. The dip was super flavorful. I dipped everyone one else's food in it too. In all fairness, it's a Mexican au jus so the saltiness of it may not be for everyone. Keep that in mind. Tacos to go are good as well, just saying. During the covid gap year(s) they didn't bring squeeze bottles of salsa, but they are doing that again. The green salsa is sweet, and the red has some piquín pepper kick. As always we also judge the queso (cheese dip) and it doesn't disappoint.enjoy, and remember if you see someone crying, it may be tears of joy.

I had been to Tienda Los Gemelos awhile back but couldn't remember too much about whether I liked it or not. I swung in here during an early weekday lunch when I was craving some tacos to go. I sat at the bar while I waited, and definitely would come back here to sample some margarita next time. All of the staff I interacted with were very nice and the food service was very efficient. Got my food quickly. I ordered three tacos to go - a steak, chicken, and pastor taco. All were yummy, cooked well, and had ample amount of meat inside the tacos. I certainly hope to return soon for dine-in at the bar and will update my review as necessary. Worth checking out, especially for the reasonable prices!

What an amazing place! I love that it is a grocery store and a restaurant. I ordered 3 tacos (2 steak and 1 steak and chorizo) and a side of rice. I love an authentic Mexican restaurant.

BEEST MEXICAN PLACE IN MADISON, hands down. Connected to a Mexican grocery store, this hidden gem on the west side is where you will find the most authentic tacos, gorditas, burritos, and enchiladas in town. Their salsa is banging and come with fresh made chips when you dine in. My personal favorites are only served on the weekend and include beef tongue (lengua) tacos and menudo, but truly, anything at this place will hit the spot. The burritos are massive and can be covered in sauce and cheese with juicy shredded chicken. Seriously, in love with this spot and go whenever I want some tacos to satisfy my craving. The only other thing I will say is that they prefer cash and mostly speak Spanish, but that's a sign of a truly authentic place if I've ever been to one ;) happy eating!!

Los Gamelos is definitely THE place to get all your Mexican food cravings in Madison! My first visit was 2 years ago and I have been coming every time I was in Madison. They were closed for quite a long time due to remodeling so its been a long time since then.I really enjoy eating their tacos. Tacos arent palm-sized like most of the tacos sold in Los Angeles but rather hand-sized. Its pretty big so it fills you up really good. I tried Carne Asada, Pastor and Pollo and they were allgreat. I personally liked the Pollo the most because it was sooo moist and yet flavorful. Soft cheese on top of shredded chicken meat was quite pleasant.Tostadas are also one of my favorites to get. If you dont want to get too messy, please dont order tostadas. You're going to end up getting messy no matter how hard you try. Not just here but EVERYWHERE else! Avocados, Queso Fresco and Crema on top of crispy tortilla bedded with your meat choice gives your mouth full of variety flavors! Maybe they can add or ask for thinly sliced onions and it will be PERFECT.Chips and Salsa is given as complimentary as you take a seat at the table. Servers are friendly and nice but sometimes its hard to find your server. Parking is spacious enough to accommodate large groups. As you enter la Tienda (store), feel free to grab a bottle of Jarrito to your table and they will just charge it onto your bill! After recent remodeling, redo of the store and the restaurant, Los Gamelos seem even more promising than before! Why dont you come and try their food with some margarita tonight?

We got tacos and gorditas. Foods were good but nothing really stood out. I got Al pastor, steak and chorizo. The Al pastor was a bit salty. I don't think they put any pineapple slices with it. Also, they preferred cash over credit cards

Have been coming here over 15 years--but now they have new cooks and recipes--the food is inferior to what it once was--the beans are now lardy--not ranchero--and portions are small. Sorry to see the change.
