What a find, tucked in dreamy Waterloo Wisconsin the ambiance was just what I expected the Biscuits and Gravy were savory and delicious, big chunks of sausage and exquisitely scrambled eggs, coffee was hot and black and seemed to be bottomless! Awesome place to eat if you're hungry and needing great food.

Awesome, as always! We love Scott and his food. We are particularly fond of the soups he creates. The specials are also creative and tasty. We have not had a bad experience here and it has become out favorite breakfast/brunch location since we've moved to the area.

Not a food reviewer, but...Who knew a little day trip would take me to Hartwit's Waterloo Diner in Waterloo, Wisconsin. On a small unassuming street in a small unassuming town, this quiet little gem surprised me. Sure, the linoleum's cracked, and some of the stools and counter seats need to be reupholstered. The place is clean and charming. There were a handful of people eating, one wait staffer, a quiet man in his 40's who the regulars know by name, and a man in back who appeared to be the owner/cook. When the presumed owner came out, told the waiter to add "European Roll" to the special on the sign, and then gently spelled European while the waiter took it down letter by letter, and the owner didn't mind that the waiter never capitalized the word "European," I was sold! These are caring people. The food was everything you'd expect of a diner. Prices were very reasonable! $6.25 for a veggie omelet, and $1.50 for a bottomless cup of coffee. The waiter knew his job, kept my coffee full, and interacted with the regulars in a very friendly way.And the sign above every booth lets the regulars know: It is becoming evident that ... some of the Stools at the Counter and Seats at the Booths will need to be re-upholstered. In order to pay for this I am once again offering these incredible Deals1 year Coffee or Soda pass - $250$250 Gift Certificate - $200$700 Gift Certificate - $550$1000 Gift Certificate - $700I don't live near enough to take them up on their incredible deals, but I wish them well.Your kind and gentle non-food reviewer,Tim

Had breakfast there today (at about noon). Waterloo skillet was great (son had) and I had Denver omelette that comes with hash browns. Also had to try the Crave Cheddar Cheese, bacon, scallop soup. It was great and bought some to go also! Scott is a master of awesome soups and interesting sandwiches in this kitschy gen in Waterloo.

Laid-back small town cafe with daily specials and homemade soups including interesting choices like Orgorkawa (polish pickle soup). I liked it!Places like this are a favorite gathering spot for locals to drink coffee and catch up on the local news, and this place was no exception. The prices are quite reasonable. If I lived in town, I would surely be there weekly.

Stopped by on the way through town and had an excellent experience. Our food came rather quickly with very healthy portion sizes and our waiter was extremely kind. What really put this place over the top was the decor and big band music playing in the background! Will definitely stop by again if I'm in the area.

I'm not entirely sure how this place has 4.5 stars. After reading some of the unhappy reviews, it's clear the owner has no intentions on changing what is leaving his customers with such a bad experience. We waited for about 40 to 50 minutes for breakfast. That seems like a long time to wait for eggs. Especially, when there were only 3 other tables. However, the real problem lies with the issues below.1.) water was served in Dixie cups. The kind you see at the dentist.. Odd.2.) when my food came, it was overflowing and I asked for an extra plate to avoid making a mess. I got a paper plate. I asked for a real plate so the eggs wouldn't soak into the paper plate and create an even bigger mess. Apparently, they charge $1 to use a real plate. What?!3.) my hashbrown were raw.4.) my receipt was torn from notebook paper and hand written. Just the total with a smile was written. Is that even legal?!?

This is a very local place and run for locals. The owner/ cook has some strange ways charge $1 for a "large" water? The food is typical diner fare and is ok, the atmosphere is colorful... at first, then after a closer look it's like they get the silverware, plates and other items from garage sales.

I Love the Saturday night prime rib...I love the Friday night fish fry... I love the awesome variety of soups...always something new. Pies are tasty, burgers are yummy too! This is where the locals go to eat, and I try and eat here every time I come to town. And it's cheap! What more can you ask for?

I didn't get a chance to eat there, but stopped in to pick up my daughter. The place smelled amazing on a Friday night. As I glanced around to see what every one was eating, I saw nothing but good looking food.
