The Waterfront on Brown's Lake

If you are looking for a relaxing, delicious, meal you have come to the right place. Spacious dining room. Large bar area. Majestic views of nature right outside the large dining room windows as you look out over the lake. A party of 5 this evening enjoyed the atmosphere, the smiles of staff, the blend of cocktails and flavorful appetizers, entrees, and desserts. All while relaxing and catching up with friends we have not shared one on one time with in a while. The waterfront is the perfect location for such an occasion. Once you arrive you will realize the special family atmosphere that makes every one feel welcomed. Bon appétit

HORRIBLE FOOD...HORRIBLE SERVICEIts been about 20 years since we have dined here. It will be another 20 before we go back. We we're looking for a new fish fry dinner to try. We arrived there at 6:45 and did not receive our meals until 8:00 pm. At that point, half the tables were empty and we were one of the last ones to eat. The fish was three tiny pieces, over breaded and the broiled was so mushy. We arrived hungry, overpaid for drinks that took too long to get to our table, and left hungry. Haven't been this disappointed in a meal/place in a long time.

This is a real locals spot and not someplace that I would be rushing to go out of my way to visit. We were very presently surprised that the pizza was as thin and crispy as we have become accustomed to in the Chicago area. We ordered sausage and mushroom with giardinera, and although we ordered hot giardinera it came out mild. It was still very flavorful.The bang pow shrimp were a tad disappointing in that they were served on top of spring mix of which 30% was spoiled. There weren't many shrimp for the price and the breading was fairly thick.What we disliked the least was the limited menu on the patio (no entrees) and the use of paper plates and plastic silverware. They could easily get some decent melamine plates that wouldn't shatter if dropped and it would really help it feel like a slightly more upscale place.The look of the pier at the end of the property also makes it look very rundown. There is a nice gas fire pit with Adirondack chairs at one end of the patio, great for cool nights.

Busy Friday night but service didn't lack. They accommodated my special requests perfectly. Food was delivered hot and tasted great. Their French onion soup was some of the best I've had! If you do want to dine outside just know you'll have to take a lot of stairs. This is a gem off the beaten path.

It took TWO HOURS for 4 people to get their food tonight. They originally told us 1 hour when we placed our order, which we were ok with because we were planning on having a few rounds of drinks. Our waitress Sidney was amazing and very apologetic. We felt so sorry for her! The table next to us told us that Mike (the manager) didn't want to come down and greet any customers and asked his staff to tell people they "just need to wait." OR, MIKE, you could learn how to properly manage a restaurant! Unbelievable. The employees working there do not deserve to have to deal with that!

We went in at 630 for dinner and was instantly greeted by the hostess. She sat us in the middle of the restaurant but you still have a beautiful view of browns lake. If you dine here ask for Donna. She was the best server. Super polite and funny at the same time. She even got me a to go drink in a cute little cup. For steak, w chicken Cesar salad, and four alcoholic beverages it was $85 without tip. I would recommend coming here when the patio opens because they have live music on Tuesday and Saturday nights.

Overlooks the lake and has a nice outdoors seating area. Food was good. There is room for improvement. Service was attentive.

My wife and I ate here twice in the past two months - both on Friday nights. We tend to be late eaters and we arrived both times around 7pm. There were tables available both times but we advised the hostess we wanted to sit at the bar and have a drink first. She told us to just let us know when we were ready. The first time we were eventually seated at a non-window table so the second time we told the hostess that we preferred a window table and were willing to wait a little longer for one to become available and asked her to get us when one was available - which she did. Beautiful view of the lake from the window tables as well as from some of the stools at the bar. I had the baked fish our first visit and it was very good. The second time I decided to try an entree I hadn't noticed before - Baked Cod Crab Oscar - which was $4 more than the regular baked cod. As a side note they also have a Baked Cod Oscar - without the crab - and that's $2 less than the one with crab. More importantly - it was excellent and I'll order that each time we go there on Friday. It has a delicious sauce - similar to a hollandaise. My wife is a vegetarian and had their Summer Spinach Salad both times and really loved it. There's not a lot for her to eat at most restaurants but there were also a number of pasta dishes available. We enjoyed both our visits and plan on it being on our "regular" circuit - we have plenty of other places we like so in our case, that means we'll be back every few months at least. Great food, nice bar area, friendly waitstaff and reasonable prices. Definitely recommend you give it a shot.

Tried the Waterfront on Brown's Lake again and would definitely recommend it if you're looking for a place to dine on the lake. This time we were seated on the outer patio (downstairs) and had a wonderful view of the lake.Service:Service was polite and the server brought everything to us in a quick and consistent manner. Food:I tried the shrimp tacos and the shrimp were huge and generously sized. You get two tacos and it's definitely enough. I opted for the clam chowder and it was very tasty. There was bacon in it (which was weird) but the flavor was very good. My guests had the blackened salmon (really good feedback) and the Friday Fish Fry (was told it was kind of salty and didn't come out hot). Tips:Get there early! This place fills up really really fast on a Friday. Definitely recommended and would love to try the other menu items next time.
