We came upon this place after getting lost on a two-day bike ride, and figured we would try it out. While we were probably a bit under-dressed and un-showered for the atmosphere here, they seated us at the bar and everyone on staff was very nice. They didn't have a great selection of beer, but I guess that's not really what they do. Nothing on the bar bites type menu rocked my socks, but the space is beautiful and it feels like it is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere. While it was otherwise nothing to write home about, if I lived in the area I would definitely give it a shot for an actual meal, but I can really only speak to it as a spot for a drink.

Not sure what happened to this place. Service has gone way down every time I have gone in and I've been one of a few tables; you would think the server was slammed. I would HATE to be there if they are ever busy becuase I'm sure its a disaster. Never really checked in on and things have been put in wrong on numerous occasions. Food comes out burnt or not cooked all the way, its very hit or miss. Food quality has gone way down and it is comparable to a greasy diner now. Sad because this place used to be so good.

Always a great experience at the Trout House! Since our last visit, they had updated the menu. I will say that they've condensed it quite a bit, but there were still multiple options to enjoy! The restaurant is set back a bit, but there's ample parking. The interior is one of my personal favorites, as it has a warm atmosphere without being cramped. I'd love to try out the patio area, but the weather hasn't allowed in the times we've been there! The staff was wonderfully friendly, and we were checked on by quite a few people to make sure we were happy with our visit. Our server, who rocked awesome purple hair, was personable, funny, and one of the best servers I've ever had.The fish and cheese plate we enjoyed as an appetizer was rich and filling; and my filet with potatoes and vegetables in a rosemary glaze sauce was both delicious and beautiful! I'd love for them to add a few more items back to the menu, but either way - we'll be making the drive for another date night at The Trout House!

What an amazing treasure I found at The Trout House, just outside Palmyra, about an hour from Milwaukee amid The Kettle Moraine. As the best things are, this is off the beaten path and a great destination.I'm familiar with Rushing Waters, a natural trout fishery, because I can buy its stellar smoked trout and fresh fish at the Metro Market near my house. So when I stopped in for lunch on a sunny warm spring day, I didn't hesitate to choose the smoked trout quesadilla. They had a nice selection of beer, wine and cocktails, and a variety of small plates, soup, salad, sandwiches, wraps and entrees. It was really tasty, and huge! Loaded with smoked trout and melted cheese, it fit the bill. A side of salsa or something to dip it in would have been a nice addition to the plate.I chose potato pancakes as my side because I adore them, and they were a bit of an odd choice for my quesadilla, but they were delicious! Crisp and tasty with a side of applesauce that I detected just a hint of cinnamon in. My server gave me attentive service at a private table at the side of the bar. I liked the clean, natural and industrial blend of the interior with nice touches of fieldstone. It felt so woodsy, and there's a nice outdoor patio for the soon-to-be warmer weather! I loved my trek into the woods for this jewel of a place. It's a good reason to visit regularly!

This is a diamond in the middle of rural Wisconsin. Make a trip out here and you won't regret it.It's not just a trout farm, where you can go in the afternoon and catch your own fish to either bring home or have cooked for you. It's a small country store with a good variety of house-smoked salmon and trout and many other various goodies. The best part is the restaurant. Try to go during Friday for fish fry. They have a pretty modern menu and it's a new interior. You'll find a robust cocktail list and many appetizers that you simply can't turn down. One thing - the trout is a bit fishy (which is normal for trout) so just be prepared.

The waitress aggressively pushed the crawfish boil describing it as a 'feast.' At her insistence we all got it. A feast it was not. One pound of crawfish is a few nibbles of food (mostly shell) the Andouille sausage she said it came with turned out to be two tiny slivers - like two slices of pepperoni on a pizza. The corn and cornbread likewise did not round out the meal or justify the $25 per plate price. We all left hungry after waiting over an hour to eat. I got McDonald's on the way home - which sucks.

One more time I am saying wow today. Can't believe I haven't written a review yet (Capt. procrastination I am). This place is a gem in the middle of no where. If you like fresh fish cooked right, this is your place.Super reasonable prices and fresh local ingredient are the stars here. Service is good and if you check in on Yelp you get a free appetizer. Quite a value! We have been here for a valentines evening four course dinner and off the regular menu many times and have never been disappointed. In addition to dining in, they have fish to go. I never leave without getting smoked salmon or trout. Also a good selection of craft beers too.As a tip - it's really in the middle of nowhere so bring a GPS and a hearty appetite.

In the restaurant to my surprise has been closed for two years. Basically since Covid hit. It was a nice restaurant sad to see it go. But they still supply and sell trout and salmon.
