I had a great experience at The Social when I was traveling on business last week. The bartender was a very friendly young woman and professional who advised on local beer and what to order. I got some local beer that was amazing. I mean, it's Milwaukee, right! Really tasty. I also ordered the Bacon and Brussel Sprouts which was the perfect dinner for me.Thanks, The Social, for offering me the perfect experience in Milwaukee.

We went for the Thanksgiving Buffet our Grandma is newly in a wheelchair and our homes all have multiple stairs we have reserved rooms for large meals but Thanksgiving just has so much we thought we'd try going out. On our booking we noted under special notes that we needed a wheelchair accessible seating (and we booked here since it noted they could accommodate). We arrived just before our 4pm reservation and a table was not available we were informed that previous guests were paying and we would have a table as soon as they clear the space. It ended up being just over 20 mins! The open tables were all high tops originally- I have to say we have been learning A LOT about the issues when having a wheelchair it's a bit frustrating and also was embarrassing for my grandma who is new to this as her new mobility. We have never done a buffet before and all the staff was very nice and hustling but most the items were empty when we went up. The poor guy at the turkey was picking scrapes! The restaurant isn't huge and from what I could see it didn't seem like folks were going to crazy! It would also be nice if food was labeled- I was the only one who fully knew the menu and it was slightly off from what was advertised- so food labels would be nice for guests that are showing up with their group since likely just one person actually booked it. Mashed potatoes, stuffed chicken, sweet potatoes and the apple pecan salad were my favorite! I honestly could eat those mashed potatoes for the rest of my life and nothing else and be content! None of the food needed extra salt/pepper which is rare especially for my mom! I was very disappointed that the Oreo looking pie was gone by time we were ready for dessert I didn't want to grab dessert with my main meal since I assumed it would be replenished the same- (had we not had a 20 minute delay due to the wrong type of table being ready for us we would have been all clear) - AND the apple and pumpkin pie were both FROZEN!! Not just extra cold but actually still frozen. It's a hard review because food wise I'd say 4 stars however with the experience I have to drop a full star!

This restaurant feels like a hotel lobby restaurant - not very special. The service was fine and the drinks were fine but expensive. I thought honestly I could easily make the bruschetta at home and maybe better. The sliders were good however.

Really shocked this place only has a 3.1 rating. The food was fantastic, highly recommend the bbq hot pot and the wings. Good service and good music. Great time, recommend stopping by.

I had walked past The Social American Tavern a few times and decided to give it a try for dinner. The ambiance was great - it is well decorated and the seating is extremely comfortable. We were able to be sat right away and everyone was extremely friendly. Our server was great and very on top of things! The food was pretty good, as well! We ordered the brat-stickers as an appetizer, which were very good (though there was a little pink to the meat, which would not have been my preference for that dish). I had the smoked Gouda Mac n' cheese, which was delicious! It was mostly piping hot, but there were a few colder bites. I had an espresso martini to drink and it was perfect and delicious!

I am liking the early morning old morning old school hotel breakfast restaurants so I stopped here for the new restaurant of the week. The building is beautiful and a national land mark with lots of history. The restaurant is a fairly open space with huge windows, tables, bar and hi back velvet looking huge booths. The 8 am menu is limited on the weekends until 11 am brunch brunch menu starts that has better looking options. The bar opens when brunch starts at 11 am so no Bloody Mary on my visit. Before brunch starts they had a buffet for $16.95 but I wasn't that hungry. I ordered the two eggs, meat, potatoes and toast for the surprisingly $9 in a fancy hotel and probably the cheapest breakfast in the last 10 years. My service was good because at 8 am before brunch starts it's not very full yet.My breakfast looked good with the exception of the two very small eggs sunny side up. The potatoes were probably from the buffet because they were not hot at all and more like room temperature but the great cubed kind deep fried which I absolutely love. The pork sausage links were tasty and juicy with a splash of juice squirting out as you cut into them. The wheat toast was good and more bakery style, thick sliced and definitely not the generic thin most restaurants have.Ok was it the best breakfast I have had, no but at $9 before tip it's super reasonable to have breakfast in a nice restaurant in a national register of historical places that's 137 years old and wonder who has sat in my space over the last 137 years. It's very satisfying to have an early morning breakfast in a space like this.

The worst food I have ever tasted in my entire life. If I had to go again, you would have to pay me! The service was utterly terrible, and it took 1 hour to deliver my dish! Absolutely disgusting taste too. Dont recommend

It took forever to get the food and when it arrived at our table, it was warm at best. I'm sad to say this was a disappointment. The nachos were average, my sister's salad had just a whisper of lettuce, which seems odd for a salad, especially when there weren't many toppings on it. On the plus side, our server was very pleasant.

This was horrible. I mean literally one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in the 4 years I've lived in Milwaukee. My girlfriend and I ordered pretty quickly after being seated. They told us right away the wait for food would be around 20-30 minutes which was perfectly fine and we were very kind to the waitress. She ordered the pork schnitzel and I just got the fried chicken sliders. We had a view of the kitchen from where we were sitting and watched our waitress ignore our food sitting on the counter, finished and ready to go, for a while. Eventually she brought it out but I quickly sent my order back as they included ingredients on it that I asked for them to not include. I wasn't upset about this, it was just a mistake. So she took it back and apologized and eventually brought it back. At this time my girlfriend had asked for ranch. We waited 15-20 minutes till she came back and she asked how things were. We told her we were still waiting on her to bring ranch. The whole time she was like full on running helping other tables and just ignoring us. 3 servers for like 10 tables and she was running helping other tables instead of her own. I also have to mention that there was about 25 minutes where my water was never refilled and staff members looked straight at it while walking by with a pitcher of water. Finally the ranch came and we could eat again because I wasn't going to eat alone so I took a bite and surprise!!! The onions that I didn't order were still on the sandwich. Which I'm actually grateful for the onions being there because it led me to investigate the rest of the sandwich..... where I found a small curly black HAIR tucked under the chicken. The wait was never a huge deal nor was the initial mistake of the food. The fact that we were ignored for so long and legit just looked over for 90% of our time there was the issue along with the massive problem of my food coming back the same with the addition of some hair. The only thing that made this experience bearable was the bonding my girlfriend and I got out of it. We got there at 5:40 and left at 7:15 with a quarter belly full of schnitzel and the fear of hair being in my stomach.

Dinner here was not good at all. Although the ambiance of the restaurant was nice, the food was disappointing. Our waitress was friendly, but the food took a very long time even though it was not busy at all, and when it finally came out, it was warm at best. I ordered a salad (the Milwaukee Caesar) and was served a head of lettuce with dressing on it. I know Caeser salads are very plain, it was quite literally just a full head of lettuce on a plate. I ordered chicken for the salad, which was forgotten. A friend I was dining with provided me with their extra chicken, and it was cold and rubbery, not fresh at all. I got the cheese curds for the salad on the side, and they were cold and overcooked. Would not go back and would not recommend.
