The Real MacCoys

Was tooling around on the Harley, and came across this place on a Sunday. Well, what a pleasant surprise! Wife and I both ordered a Bloody Mary. They had Shiner Bock on tap (that was my chaser) and the Bloody's were delish! Pickle, mushrooms, beef stick and all the rest hit the spot. Looked at the menu and decided on a mushroom swiss burger. We didn't order a split, but the server was nice enough to bring us both a plate, and it was all divided up already! The burger was hot and fresh and the swiss cheese pull was on point. Fries were sour cream and onion wedges, split on our two plates as well. It's a neat little place with good/friendly service. Check it out on a road trip! Bonus- There are some nice deer heads in this place as well. As a hunter and WIsconsinite, I appreciate that. :)

Normally great food on the menu, always fast service when they aren't slammed , friendly staff.

THE BEST fish fry we've had in a long time!! Came here just before 4p on a Friday and their dining room was already hoppin'. We opted to sit at the bar where there were only a few other patrons. We were amazed at how nice it was inside. Everything seemed to shine, it was so clean - and there was a lovely amount of natural light. The bar was large and there were plenty of seating for dining only - sort of in the same area. There was a smaller back room with some slot machines and a golf game as well. I thought everyone that was working looked genuinely happy to be there. Our service at the bar was phenomenal from the second we got there. Our drinks were poured nicely and refilled quickly. I ordered the 2 piece fried cod with sour cream and chive french fries. My husband had the fried blue gill with sweet potato fries. The fish was breaded perfectly, cornmeal maybe?? Everything came out really fast - almost too fast. I'm sure they were just getting ready for a busy Friday night and wanted to turn tables over. People were consistently pouring in while we were eating. I'm positive this place is on a wait every Friday night after 5p. We both thought that the amount/quality of the food was superb for the price. I had debated ordering the 3 piece cod, glad I didn't. We were both stuffed when we left! If we're ever in the area again, we will absolutely be stopping here.

The bloody marys we're great! The steak sandwich was amazing and the $1 deserts we're excellent! The loaded nachos we're a great start. The wings were a little over cooked for my taste. The inside was very nice and newly redone! We'll worth the visit!!

We went for the fish fry. Had the Cod .it was fantastic. If you like fish then this is the place to go. A must try.

Excellent fish fry! Best I've had in a long. Great service. Potato pancakes were tasty also. Old fashioned was decent. We both had blue gill. Lots of fish 4 the price. We will definitely be back !!! Wanna try the baked Alaska cod too

Best fish fry around! I've never had a bad meal at MacCoys. Perfect down home local spot with great specials any night of the week.

Prime rib sandwich: put in in your face hole and be transported into a world of flavor and delight

Last night, was our first time at the Real MacCoys and I must say, We'll be back. We did the Friday night, but not the fish. My wife had the stuffed shrimp, while I had the jumbo shrimp. We ordered cocktails and they were fantastic. The food came shortly thereafter and we were amazed at the flavor. I would highly recommend to anyone, but, if you go there, arrive early as the tables fill up fast. Before we even left, we decided that another trip to Cold Spring, would be in order. (maybe, even today, for the Prime Rib dinner)The server and all of the staff, seemed genuinely interested in make our visit, a great experience. If there were more stars to give? They'd be highlighted.

As much as I like this place, my last visit was eventful. One entrance that led thru the bar. It was so noisy in there you couldn't hear the person beside you. We stood at the end of the bar waiting for assistance for at least 20 minutes among the noise. Bartenders were to busy to wait on us. Finally someone showed us to the dining area that was filled with youngsters running about. We had a reservation for 6pm. Waitress was very nice, offered our beverages and took our order. I took the Saturday night special 4 piece chicken. The website said $9.95 we were charged $15.95, best keep up the website better! Our meal was brought to us and my chicken looked like they served a bird! All 4 pieces were so small you could hardly hold onto them. They were fried too long making them hard and uneatable. The mashed potatoes and gravy were delicious. My friend ordered prime rib and enjoyed every bite. Im sorry i cant give you a better rating but i doubt if we will return.​
