Coffee was undrinkable. Too sweet & uneven blend of syrup/milk/espresso, had to toss it after a few sips. Customer service was good, the child behind the counter (14 years old? Maybe younger) was very friendly. However, the vibe was creepy and unnerving. It looks and feels dark and dingy on the inside. I kind of like the copious Catholic idolatry/decor. It's excessive, but it I feel it makes the bakery unique. But there's also a bookshelf at the register with an in-your-face display that's full of anti-vaxx, super conservative, conspiracy books. 'Liberalism is a Sin' for example. I was going to buy a pastry but did not so I can't comment on the taste or quality. I was too creeped out by the general vibe I wanted to get my coffee and get out. It's hard to describe. There were adults sitting nearby with children, but something was just...off. Not a place to sit and enjoy your food or sup-par coffee in a styrofoam cup. I wanted to support a local business, but I would never spend my money here again.

Well this certainly was an interesting experience. The only reason I gave this an extra star is because the coffee and baked goods were tasty. Otherwise, this was a strange, politically religious, cafe. As you walk up the the counter you are greeted with "anti-vax" propaganda and weird books called 'Liberalism is a Sin' which was about how liberals say you can have freedom of religion, but apparently that's not true! Only one god at the Mixing Bowl!Anyway, the young guy behind the counter was friendly but if you believe in equality and human rights take your money elsewhere.Signed,A Sinning Liberal

If you can get by the religious and political messaging...Been driving by this little bakery for years... finally stopped. We shared a slice of quiche and a sticky bun as big as my head. Overall... sorta strange experience but nice selection. Everything looked great. And the quiche and stick bun were really very good.

I will start by saying that everything this bakery offers is made in house. That is a big plus for me. They had lots of bakery items, sweets, and pies to choose from. They also offered a select few healthy grocery items (dairy, fresh herbs, drinks) as well. They do accept EBT on food items which is nice for those who have that option of payment. The young lady who helped us was informative but not overly friendly. She answered our questions when we asked them but did not greet us nor interact with us apart from answering our questions as simply as possible. Customer service for small local businesses is vital. If the customer feels unappreciated and unwelcome then they will not return to support you. I got a Cranberry White Chocolate scone which was a little bland and dry. My wife got a Snickerdoodle cookie which had a good consistency but not much flavor. We got a house made Peanut Butter cup which had a very thick chocolate shell which was incredibly rich (almost too rich) and overpowered the peanut butter flavor. My daughter got a brownie which somehow in the time it took from getting it out of the bakery case to walking to our car outside it turned into mush (it wasn't hot outside). We also got a giant cinnamon roll which was the highlight of the bakery items. They also offer coffee and espresso drinks.I will advise you that this is a very Catholic bakery. What I mean by that is that as soon as you walk in the door you are looking at a crucifix of Jesus hanging on the wall, and that's just the beginning. They sell Catholic religious items and there are lots of them in all parts of the bakery. This could be a pro or con based on who you are. There were about five or so young children (I'm guessing family members of the owners) sitting around the table at the center of the store whom watched us the whole time. This was a little off putting as it made me feel like I was invading someone's home and wasn't supposed to be there. Overall, I am not rating this establishment based on their devotion to Catholicism or their beliefs. Rather, I am rating them based on the bakery items and the environment. I appreciate the hard work they seem to put into their bakery case but it could be executed a little better. The mixture of heavy Catholicism imagery, being watched the whole time and feeling unwelcome, and just on par baked goods leads me to not want to venture into this establishment again.

Do not judge this place by it's cover or interior. They did say on their board about religious items.. if you are there for bake goods, this is THE place! The Mixing Bowl Bakery has amazing cinnamon buns and quiches: light and fluffy. The black coffee we had was fresh and smooth. I have no idea how young our server was, but she was patient and helpful.

Was not expecting the heavy religious and political propaganda. The bakery was impressive but my muffin was dry and over oiled and my latte was acceptable, but very sweet. I don't think I'd return just because of the cult-like vibe inside.

If you're looking for old fashioned cooking, baking and the like, look no further in you're near Sauk City! These are great people, who make great foods! Cookies, scones, pies, quiche, and all sorts of other temping treats! Such a pleasure to stop, say Hi, have a treat, or just bring home a few home made loaves of bread! You won't be disappointed!

We actually liked the bakery items but the creep factor of the place along with this book at checkout makes it a hard pass from now on.

We were passing through town and decided to stop at this bakery. It was poorly lit, musty, and decorated from floor to ceiling with Catholic items (framed pictures of saints, statues of saints, rosaries, holy water paraphernalia, etcetera). I didn't mind the decor. I don't have to share the same beliefs with whoever cooked my meal. Whatever. Live and let live.My rating is based on the baked goods I purchased. My first hint should have been that the place smelled musty at 8 a.m. A bakery should smell like baked goods, right? Sure enough, the items I purchased (muffin, scone) were stale and greasy. I'm not confident that these people are doing their own baking. Maybe they buy the stuff wholesale and thaw it out as needed? Also, the kid who was manning the cash register was around 12 years old and there wasn't an adult in sight. Weird.
