Visited for a wine tasting today - a special event and had an awesome time! Everyone was so friendly! It was organized and plenty of wine to try! They had a lot of great deals on wine and we left with a good supply of wine and cheese! We will be back to visit the restaurant.

We're local and came as we had our kitchen remodeled. I was a bit confused walking in through a store, but the restaurant has a separate door.We ordered chocolate chip waffle, eggs well done, bacon and cream of chicken soup. All delicious. It's a great local diner that's affordable food, great service and tasty food.

I understand that liquor store owners are frustrated when they sell hard-to-find whiskey for MSRP and the illegal, secondary market sells it for 3x or more for the same thing.Pappy Van Winkle. Blanton's. Weller. If you're after it, you'll find it right here. You'll also find some of the most obnoxious, ridiculous pricing you'll come across.As a whiskey reviewer, I've had all those before and understand the hype behind those labels. I also stopped hunting those years ago. When I see them on the store shelf, I first look at the prices, and if they're ripping off customers, I do the second thing I do is walk out of the store. I don't care what else they have. I will spread the word about their rip-off pricing and attempts to take advantage of the consumer. It is not the liquor store's job to engage in the secondary market. The secondary market is the black market. The black market is illegal. And I will not support any retailer that participates in bloated, artificially-inflated prices just to make a buck.Zero respect for this liquor store. If ethics and fair play mean anything to you, avoid this place.

We stopped here for the restaurant and enjoyed the food. I've driven past many times and always thought "eh" but I underestimated how nice the restaurant was. The staff is super friendly and nice. The food was delicious. Time flies here and the coffee keeps ya goin!

customers are not required to wear masks here. -- not cool!! illinois requires masks!!prices here are average, not great. selection of cheese is below average.

This is a great place to stop if you're heading to see friends in Wisconsin and forgot to buy beer and wine. They also have a nice selection of cheeses.

First time visiting American Cafe. Ordered an omelet for breakfast and it came out warm and tasty. The rest of our party was pleased with their meals expect one who order biscuit and gravy. Biscuits were a touch burnt. The service was prompt and efficient. She even brought out new biscuits and gravy to fix the first ones served which was nice. The reason I am giving it a 2 is because this place is filthy. Ceiling tile are water damaged and molded. Window ledges are peeling and dusty. The floor looks like it hasn't been washed in quite some time either. Who only knows how filthy the kitchen is. Yuck. Time for a deep clean and some restaurant up keep.

I don't want to tell anyone about this place as I love it that much! 5-star service and 5-star prices / online deals every week. I can't walk out of this place without carrying 1-2 cases of wine :)

Went there for breakfast. Food was great, unfortunately the service was lousy. When we walked in, no one noticed. We pretty much had to wave down a waitress who finally seated us.Took forever for our waitress to come over. When were done eating, she pretty much forgot we were there.Been passing this place most of my life, but will continue to pass it by.

American Cafe, food is very good and cooked exactly as ordered. Service was excellent, we went for breakfast. I would give it a 5 except for the lack of compliance with face masks. All wait staff wore them but of about 20 customers less than 1/2 wore them into the place. There are no signs requiring masks like so many other places have. Tables were social distanced. While it is very hard to enforce masks, at least signage might help. A few families with children all had masks, it was mostly men who came in without them. Just an observation of a very limited sample.
