The Green Lantern in McFarland is a beloved institution that has earned a loyal following over the years, and for good reason. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this charming family-owned restaurant serves up hearty, comforting meals in a cozy, down-to-earth setting that feels like a warm hug on a plate. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by the welcoming ambiance of a classic American diner with a touch of nostalgia. The restaurant is known for its friendly service and consistent quality--two things that have kept patrons coming back for decades. The decor is simple and unpretentious, but it's the food that steals the show. The Green Lantern's menu is packed with all the comfort food you could ask for, from tender steaks and perfectly crispy fried chicken to delicious seafood and homemade soups. One of the standout items on the menu is the Friday night fish fry, which is a local tradition. Served with crispy fries, coleslaw, and tartar sauce, it's an absolute must-try. The fish is always perfectly fried, with just the right amount of crunch and a light, flaky interior. If you're in the mood for something different, their homemade meatloaf or prime rib (served on weekends) are also top-notch--full of flavor and cooked to perfection. For breakfast lovers, the Green Lantern also serves a fantastic morning spread, from fluffy pancakes to generous omelets filled with fresh ingredients. It's a great spot for a hearty start to your day, whether you're a regular or visiting for the first time. One of the highlights of dining here is the friendly service. The staff is always attentive, welcoming, and efficient, ensuring that your experience is both enjoyable and satisfying. The pace is relaxed, which makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely meal with family or friends. The bar area offers a nice selection of beers, wines, and cocktails, making it a great place to unwind, especially on weekends when the restaurant tends to get busy with locals. The Green Lantern also features a nice selection of daily specials that provide excellent value, offering up a variety of options to fit any appetite. In short, Green Lantern in McFarland is a no-frills, dependable spot where you can count on great food, great service, and an overall warm, welcoming experience. It's the kind of place where you feel at home, and it's clear why so many people return time and time again. Whether you're in the mood for a cozy dinner or a casual breakfast, the Green Lantern is a local gem you won't want to miss.

Great spot for morning breakfast out on the boat. Nothing fancy, but a summer staple. A dive, but good service, and you can't beat eating right at the lake. Favorite is the Bloody Mary with a miller lite chaser. I'll be ordering the Reuben again.

This was the second time we visited this place. Both time were for drinks only. This time we came at dinner time and there was a wait to get into the restaurant section. It did not seam to be too long of a wait by the turn over of people in the bar seating area. The crowd was mostly older, drinking mixed drinks and waiting to be seated for dinner. The inside was darker but to some much as to need a light to see around. There were several poker machines and games like pool to play in the bar area. I would consider the ambiance to be on the louder side but again we came while it was quite busy. If in the area we may try the food but for now we enjoyed our drinks.

I would give this place a solid C. Friendly host and salad was actual spring mix and not cheap lettuce. The bartender wasn't able to describe the beers on tap. The grouper stuffed with "crab" was flavorless and had a white, creamy (bearnaise?) sauce that wasn't good at all and ruined the fish. I guess it depends on what you like but I wouldn't go back.

Great hometown restaurant on the lake. It gets very busy sometimes so be ready for a long wait if you want a seat with a view. Also has a great bar with friendly bartenders and karaoke some nights. Food is good Wisconsin supper club staples, but they do have a variety of daily specials.

I had the hangover burger which has fried egg, hash browns, and cheddar cheese along with their seasoned waffle fries. It absolutely hit the spot along with the summer shandy that was on tap. My wife had the Cobb salad and it was delish as well. The cheese curds and dip were an excellent starter for us. Cool place with a great water view and excellent accessible entrance (wife is in a wheelchair so that is important).Look forward to our next visit so we can stop by again!

Back for a second time with my Dad. Prices and portions still AMAZE me - so reasonable and substantial respectively . I had the same waitress as the first time and she was just as pleasant and attentive. The lake view never gets old either! I will continue to go back and share with more family/friends.

This place is five stars for what it is, first, a supper club, and second, a townie bar. Why? Best salmon I've had in the greater Madison area. I didn't believe it either, but I saw a picture of the blackened salmon salad on Google reviews and took a chance. I ordered the DINNER salmon which has a delicious citrus butter seasoning seared into the crust. It's AMAZING! It's apparently sushi-grade salmon flown in from the coast (according to bartender) and you can order it medium rare because of this. I'm not sure why our little townie bar has this high-grade salmon but it does. And I really shouldn't be telling you about it because I don't ever want to wait for a table at the Greenie but you deserve to know so here we are. I always get the seasoned fries for the side. The plain ones are just sad. The burger is also fantastic and less than $10 with a side. That's probably cheaper than McDonald's for much better food. They have a wonderful breakfast as well. Bring cash for the discount. Avoid the ribs and cheese curds. They could do better on the bar food in general, but the salmon and seasoned fries are so good, the prices so reasonable, they make up for it easily.

Truly, watch where your money goes. Overpriced. The quality of the food is not has it used be. Customer service is behind par. You are better staying at home and cooking your own breakfast. Not has it used be,
