The City Market Café & Bakehouse

This was the new restaurant of the week and a long time bookmark so I stopped by for the cilantro lime chicken sandwich. The young women servers were on point service wise and did a great job with my order. The place has a library feel inside an athletic club/coffee shop in a medical area which was weird.I ordered the cilantro lime chicken sandwich which sounded so delicious. The cilantro lime chicken sandwich looked amazing on a bakery French bread looking bread with corn chips and a salsa container. The sandwich looked good with fresh lettuce and tomatoes with shredded chicken on great bread that was good but the cilantro and lime was dumed down for the masses but still an interesting sandwich on great bread, bread makes or breaks a sandwich and good bread always makes a sandwich awesome. If I ordered it again I would ask for extra cilantro and the lime paste.

An ok place to grab a bite but very, very expensive for what you actually receive. You order at the counter and have to choose a tip before receiving any actual service. Our "server" came by 10 minutes later, dropped off the lukewarm food, no smile or hello or welcome or thanks or "do you need anything" etc. She just walked away and we realized we didn't even have utensils or napkins. Had to get up from the table and walk to the other side of the dining room to find utensils and napkins. At no point did anyone return to check on us. Glad I left that tip while I was ordering. Average food. High prices. Bad service. No thanks.

Great menu with something for all palettes. Excellent build your own sandwich options available all day. Can also have your bread toasted! There is also a fully plant-based menu which isn't something you see at many dining spots in Milwaukee/Tosa (outside vegan restaurants). Reasonable prices and a great location within walking distance of Children's Wisconsin Hospital and attached to the WAC. Just an all around nice spot for a tasty, sit down breakfast or lunch.

I stopped by quick today after the gym, and asked if they could do a peanut butter banana smoothie and the cashier was so wonderful and helpful and said they could. I was a bit disappointed when I received a small cup 3/4 of the way full and the smoothie was warm. I understand this wasn't on the menu, but they said they were able to do it, so I thought it would be fine. I was super happy with the customer service and everyone was so friendly, but I was very disappointed in my drink.

This place is conveniently located next to my gym when I want to treat. Santa Fe salad with chicken has always been my go to. Like most things that has changed a little bit. I feel like it's a smaller portion and the chicken is more shredded than chunks how I remembered. It was still delicious and fresh but I needed something to go with it. The dressing is light and tasty

Their service was very pleasant. The seating was plentiful. Lots of space to spread out with laptops and work. The Mac n cheese with bacon and avocado was mmmmmm!!! And the bowls are also good till the last bite!Smoothie was a bit seedy- I'll try a different flavor next time.

I have had the grilled portobello and veggies burger a few times now. Excellent. I love their outdoor dining area all of the food I see is attractively presented. I heartily recommend this place for food and service. Nice to see a local establishment so so well.

The mango smoothie was great. Refreshing for sure. Sandwich was also good, balanced well between meat and veggies. Fries were average, no complaints there. Overall a nice quick spot to get a decent sandwich or salad.

The food was good but we waited 45 minutes for our food at 2:00 in the afternoon on a Monday. Not acceptable for any kind of eatery.

I will say though that the quality is very good and fresh. We had the City Market Sampler lunches. Nearly 35 bucks for lunch for two. They tacked on another $2.90 to the one with the turkey and ham? The minestrone soup of the day had seemed like homemade. It was good though. A cookie dough brownie (delicious), $4.50. I won't be coming here often. Perhaps for a lunch treat on occasion. A very busy place, of course during peak lunch hour (12 pm). Expect a longer wait (20 - 30 mins.) ordering and receiving your food at the counter. Good on them!
