The City Market Café & Bakehouse

I've always loved the City Market, especially in the winter. They have a great coffee and even better pastries. It's a great place to get work done or hang out with friends. The best lunch item they have in my opinion is their Turkey Cranberry Sandwich with multicolored potatoes, it's a must get.

My, how the mighty have fallen.I took a friend to breakfast on Monday, July 29. (Sorry for the late review.)Our coffee drinks were barely lukewarm.We both ordered the breakfast classic. My friend got the potato blend and said that it was overcooked and tasteless, as was her turkey bacon. My sausage patties were...okay. Both of us got undercooked eggs. You have to fetch your own butter, but it didn't melt because, yep, cold toast.Such a shame.

I have had their half sandwich and soups several times and they are delicious. This time, the cashier said I could not have the city market melt. Not because they were out, but because he said he didn't know how to do it. I asked to dine in and they did it as take out. Which isnt a big deal. I am thinking maybe they need more training.

Fast service and outdoor seating is a plus. I love the spicy honey avocado toast. Their menu has a great variety, including vegetarian and vegan options.

We were visiting from Florida and staying nearby so walked here for a breakfast meal. The pancakes were ordered with syrup and a side of whipped cream. Very good and fluffy. I had two eggs over medium. They came out crispy on the edges and over easy, a n]bit too much uncooked white , but edible and I did. One orders at the register and a number is given on the table for delivery of the plates when cooked. It was delivered hot and with a smile.

Too expensive for what your getting. $20 for a tiny sliver of a veggie only sandwich, cup of soup and black coffee. Big price small portions. Would love to see some local seasonal Wisconsin products for that price.skip it and go somewhere else

Eaten here many times and always had a great sandwich & soup! My favorite is the vegetable stack, lots of fresh veggies! The vegetable chili was super hearty & tasty, it was like eating actual chili! Yum! Fun place to eat in the summer on the sidewalk tables & enjoy a meal with your furry friends! Counter service but they bring it out to you when it's ready.

We love City Market. They have quick service and a variety of options. Their desserts are amazing and always have a stocked case. I like that they give an option of fruit or fries. You order at the counter and they bring out the food to you. There are quite a few tables and is a casual atmosphere. Is a little pricey but we enjoy it! Highly recommend if you want good sandwiches and tasty desserts!

I enjoyed this city market! It was quite busy on a weekday at lunch. I was rather surprised! A lot of people were outside sitting, there was plenty of places to sit inside. I ordered the burger with fries and a side of Mac and cheese. It was all fine. The service was really friendly and I felt the food came out in a decent timeframe considering they seemed rather busy. I have yet to try any of the bakery items but I just received a gift card so I'll give something else a try.

Had not been back to City Market since before the pandemic. I was in the neighborhood and decided to check it out again. I really wanted breakfast but it was after 11 AM. I think some of the breakfast items are still available. But the cafe was busy with a lot of the tables occupied, including the outside ones on an unseasonably warm day.I got the veggie burger because I liked the sound of the everything seasoned bun. I was kind of looking at the cranberry turkey sandwich as a 2nd choice. The veggie burger was good, nothing spectacular but flavorful and substantial enough. It had avocado but needed a smidge of mayo or something. I did like the everything bun. The fries had some skin on which is a plus in my book.I was not drinking coffee but it's a strong suit here. I did not have dessert either but the case was tempting. Next time I'll go early and get breakfast.
