I was on my way home from Friday baseball day game in Chicago and wanted to pick up a fish fry along the way. The Celler on Oakwood was the closest of my bookmarks to the highway with a fish fry I hadn't yet tried once I was back in Wisconsin, so I gave them a shot. I ordered wonton mozzarella sticks and beer battered cod with potato pancakes.At the end of my phone order I was told it would be ready in about 10 minutes. I was only 11 minutes away according to my map app, so I said that was perfect. Given how soggy the breading was on the fish and that everything in general was warm instead of hot, I assume it was done in much less time than 10 minutes. Not thrilled about the poor timing. The mozzarella sticks came with five large sticks, so you get a good value for your money if you're only worried about size and quantity. The cheese, though, was bland. I also asked for no Parmesan sprinkled on top and they didn't listen. At least it wasn't a ton and not difficult to brush what I could off. I liked the flavor of the potato pancakes, but unfortunately for this particular order they were pretty thick (normally that wouldn't be a problem). Any remaining crispiness that wasn't zapped out of the outsides by condensation in the to go box was negated by the mushier texture of the inside. If I were to dine in I would certainly get them again, but not something to go.If you're dining in the fish is probably very good. Again, the soggy breading didn't do it for me, but I could taste the beer in the batter and I feel like it had a good ratio of breading to beer. The four pieces were well sized too.

There's nothing negative you could say about the Cellar. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered a steak and it was beautifully done.

This was new restaurant of week and I was excited to try it because the place looks very old. It's a bar and restaurant with a nice wood bar as you walk in, hi tables around it and a nice dining room in back with booths and tables. The place has a lodge feel with all the wood. I was promptly seated and given a menu and I ordered a whiskey sour old fashioned. The menu is typical bar food with pizza, burgers etc etc. My whiskey sour old fashioned was super average which always makes me think of the really great one I had by the airport in town.I ordered the 1/2 lb cheeseburger rare with lettuce, tomato, onion and cheddar cheese that comes frys or soup. The soup was split pea with ham and I love split pea soup so this being a restaurant the soup is probably home made for soup of the day I was hoping.The soup was horrible because it was loose and very bland with tiny pieces of ham with weak flavor, OMG could this possibly be the worst restaurant food service commercial soup I have ever had. It was definitely getting the oyster crackers and a couple dashes of salt to help it along.My cheeseburger was served fairly quickly but I thought I got someone's else's order because it was plain and it had frys with it, you only get soup or frys my server told me so I was going to send it back until I noticed the blood on the cheese and bun so yes it's my rare cheeseburger just all messed up. I call my server over and I reminded her that I ordered lettuce, tomato and onions on my burger and it's a plain cheeseburger. My server goes into the the kitchen and brings me a side salad plate of fresh toppings so I have make my own cheeseburger at my table I guess WTF.Ok after all the WTF is going on here aside let's get into the food. The frys were hot cooked to order, seasoned nicely with a golden crispy shell and soft center, very nice as far as frys go. The cheeseburger on my first bite shot juice out of it so it's a juicy fresh patty which left juice on my plate. The meat wasn't seasoned but it had a small char broiled flavor which was tasty and it was cooked perfectly rare. The cheeseburger was really really good on a fresh egg wash bun with fresh toppings.My final thoughts is that this was a comedy of errors because they do some thing's completely right and completely fail on others like having a good cheeseburger/frys that they can't assemble correctly and very mediocre commercial soup. I still left my server a 50%+ tip because I don't know it was she or the kitchen added to this odd experience.

A favorite local bar/restaurant that's a hidden gem in OC! We like to sit out on the patio or in the pavilion. We like their pizza, fish fry, and pasta dishes! We've even gone for brunch on the weekend too. Every time we've gone we've had a great experience with friendly service and good food.

We held a baby shower event here this past weekend. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff, the venue, the pricing and everything they did to make our day so special. Nikki, Jen, Haley and Shirley were so wonderful to work with and so accommodating with all our request. Food was amazing. Service was exceptional and it's such a beautiful venue. They are hitting on all cylinders at the The Cellar!!!
