The Bosch Tavern

Great spot in a historical building! We decided to go on a Saturday evening. Their adjacent parking lot was fairly full, but to our surprise we were seated immediately. Still decorated for Christmas, the interior was festive. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived (7pm) they were sold out of ribs, but there were plenty of other options.We opted for the big soft pretzel as an app. It was served piping hot with a nacho cheese & honey mustard dipping sauce that were perfect compliments. For my dinner I chose the Swiss Dip & subbed fries for the Navy Bean Soup. The burger was cooked to perfection, with a lovely mushroom sauce to dip! The navy bean soup was flavorful & perfect for a cold winter night. I highly recommend this casual spot!

I've been here quite a few times over the years, it's kind of a Hales Corners cornerstone, being one of the first businesses built in the area like 100 or so years ago. My retention of history is sketchy at best! But it's old, it's iconic, and when they widened Hwy 100, the WHOLE building was picked up and moved like 20 feet to the west because it was better than demolishing the historic building. Fun fact, it's supposed to be haunted. That I read in an actual book :) The building has a pretty cool history to it though, even without ghosts. I typically utilize the new drive thru that was implemented during the early years of covid. It's such a convenient way to get fish fry on Fridays. I don't live far so the food is always still hot when I get home. There's limited options to make it easy on staff(baked or fried), and two windows to make it easy on customers. Pay at one, pick up at the other. It's been far too long since I dined in so I will need to do that again soon.

Our experience here was just okay. We arrived at 9 a.m., and while the timing seemed fine to us, the server mentioned we came "just in time," which felt a little odd and set the tone for the visit.The food. The portions were generous, and everything came out quickly, which was nice. That said, the food itself was fine--not bad, not great. It did the job but wasn't memorable enough to bring me back.The service. Unfortunately, this is where things fell short. The server wasn't particularly friendly and handed us the check without much interaction. It all felt... off, like maybe they weren't thrilled we were there. Whether it was close to the kitchen closing (I think it closed at 10?) or something else, we all left feeling a little unwelcome.The atmosphere. We sat in the bar area, which was clean and had a typical bar vibe. Nothing too remarkable, but it was comfortable enough.Overall, while the food and portions were decent, the lackluster service made the visit feel less than enjoyable. I wouldn't go out of my way to return.

Bosch Tavern is great! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. I liked the atmosphere - warm and comforting with an up north feel. My Bloody Mary was delicious. My husband liked his wings and the nachos were pretty good. Next time I would try a burger since I've heard good things. Ample parking. Good place to grab a drink or watch the game. I can definitely see us making this place one of our regular spots!

Beautiful old tavern. It was not too busy and the bartender was attentive. The pulled pork sandwich was delicious and not too salty. The downside is you have to know how to get to the parking lot.

Haven't been here in a month of Sundays, so I picked this place to see if the Friday specials were still good. Yup they were. We made. Reservation for 5:30 and when we arrived, our table was ready for us. Drinks were ordered and delivered and our server gave us a bit of time to peruse the specials and the rest of the menu. The server returned in a few minutes and we set up the breakdown of couples and items ordered and off he went to get the items prepared. Not 15 minutes passed and the bread, slaw and tartar was delivered for those with the fried fish ordered nd one person ordered soup and it was delivered before the meal. It seemed like no time passed nd our entrees were brought out, except there seemed to be. Mixup, since two fish fry dinners were not brought with the rest of the table entrees. The server brought out the missing items in 6 minutes and everyone had their food and enjoyed. The fish fry had three large pieces of fish with fries and the boiled fish was a huge pile of cod chunks with mashed potatoes and steamed carrots with a hollendaise sauce on the side. All in all a good Mel.

Went there for fish fry last night. Service was good. Fish was hot and good as well as the fries. Coleslaw is inedible. However part of the way through my husband's meal-he found a long blonde HAIR in the fish. We did eventually alert the waitress. She immediately asked if she could get us another piece of fish which my husband declined. The waitress did comp his beer but seriously-where was the manager? We kind of expected the manager to come out to the table and at least offer to comp his meal. Having worked as a waitress and bartender for 10 years-that was always usual protocol. Just disappointed in how it was handled. Won't be back-sorry but I don't want hair in my food.

Sorry, but just not that friendly. You get the feeling they're doing you a real favor. Parking lot entrance has needed a sign for years...people drive past early unmarked entrance. Fix it! Also not flexible at all for changes to their fish fry formula plates. And, if you do make a change, you can't use the drive thru, you are told you must come inside (despite bad weather).Nah. I'm done. Great Old Fashions though.

Good: 9.0 fried fish Service: 10.0. Sam was our waitress. The hostess did her best to get us seated quickly.Ambiance: 9.0 We sat in the room with the fireplace.I'll definitely come back, but probably not on a Friday night. I would like to try the drive-thru for fish on Fridays during Lent.

This is a small quirky place with an almost cult following. They fill up quickly, but service is good and the kitchen is fast. There is a drive through service put in during COVID that years later still winds around the parking lot and often onto the road. Food is very good! Had a variety of dishes including the fish fry, steak sandwich, and a turkey cranberry sandwich.
