Very European. So as an American, not exactly my vibe. Sure, it's a historic building, downtown in Mayville. Question is, who wants to go to Mayville?

My girlfriend and I went here for Halloween, and I thought it looks pretty cool by the pictures and what people said about it. We both liked how old the building was. The only issues that we had, was that there wasn't a parking lot that we could use. We needed to park on the street. We had gotten a new car and we where really worried that someone would do damage to it, but no one did anything to it. One other issue that we had was when we checked out. No one isn't at the desk at the time of check out, and I was worried that I would be charged for another night. Because all of the rooms used house keys. They didn't use a key card. Then if we needed to go somewhere outside, so if we needed to get back into the building, we needed to use the key that they also had. When we got back to our room, a few hours later, our room wasn't locked. I don't know if it was our fault or the doors lock. The furniture in the room is outdated. The windows didn't look clean, from the outside. The bar didn't have any one there. To order a drink. There was a fridge in the room, but no coffee maker or microwave. There is a microwave and coffee maker outside the room on each floor, but no cups. But we both had fun and thought that the place was good to stay at for a night or two. It also seemed like there really wasn't anyone there to stay.

Well, we reserved a suite... this was a special occasion. I will start with the lack of customer service. the woman at the desk didn't look away from her computer screen once as we checked in. The outside of the building was gorgeous suggesting the same inside. It was old and tired in the room, the TV was the size of a kitchen television. Didn't really come up for TV but the furnishings were worse than garage sale stuff. You couldn't raise the blinds but I can see why; paint peeling, filthy dirty windows.... I am older and could barely crawl into the tub (which was a jetted tub) due to hip and knee surgeries. Really disappointed. Ask to see a room before you rent, maybe others have been updated.

Terrible. Awful experience. No one told us that the bar and the dining room would be closed due to a lack of reservations. If we had known we would not have stayed here. Good luck trying to find a nice place to eat in Mayville Wi late at night. Staff could have cared less. If I could give 0 stars I would.

We had a lovely time during our getaway from the big city. The staff was very gracious and all the little touches to make their guests feel welcomed did not go unnoticed.

This was a wonderful discovery. We stayed at the Inn to visit Horican marsh. Both surprised us. Since only the inn and its restaurant are Yelp topics, the 4 star rating is for both. A beautiful old building hosts both the inn and Nola, the restaurant. We are two meals at Nola. A light dinner when we arrived. A simple jambalaya. Good taste, a little thick, but it was near the end of the evening. Good salads, a grilled caesar and beet salad. The former was so good we ordered it again the next night. Beet salad was good too, with the Caesar that much more so. The second night we had prime rib. Wow. Still eating it today ( they have fridges in the rooms). Rare done rare. Meat melts in the mouth. The inn is a work in progress, and worth the stay. Comfortable beds and great linens. We had a room with a substantial setting area and a sleeping area with a pencil four poster bed. Tv is small, but did come to watch tv. Service all around was sincerely helpful. You feel as an appreciated guest. We definitely will return and encourage others to do so too.

Who knew Mayville, WI had authentic New Orleans food? And I'm from NOLA so I'm not some dude from Nebraska that thinks New Orleans = Cajun or just throwing cayenne on something. Really good food with fresh local ingredients.Really cool historic hotel in a neat town with lots of outdoor activities within a short drive. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway with a nice hotel, friendly staff, great food and beer selection, Audubon Inn is where it's at y'all.

Lovely Inn that's been restored beautifully. We've now tried this place twice and while the second time was decidedly better than the first (this time the TV in our room wasn't from 1958, the remote actually operated the TV, and the whirlpool water got enough enough to actually, you know, take a bath) but I still wouldn't recommend it too highly. Let me start by saying the coffee pot in our room had leftover coffee in it from the last guest. That really makes ya feel like the room has been thoroughly cleaned, doesn't it? The bed is comfortable, the suite we had was pretty, the linens were fresh and clean and white. The Inn is spacious and we didn't hear any street noise or hear any other guests. We did try to watch a movie on tv and found that one of us had to sit on the floor bc the TV is in a location that either requires you both to sit in uncomfortable upright chairs or only one of you can sit on the couch and still see the screen (which is smaller than my laptop screen). So, um, don't plan to watch a lot of cable TV on your overnight here. No breakfast included anymore for Sunday, just a menu for the ridiculously priced brunch at the downstairs restaurant. An $18 omelet? No thanks. The Boyfriend made sure to gross me out by pointing out all the spots where the bathroom tile was dirty and where there was dirt and maybe mold in the shower grout, but I found the bathroom pretty and the shower nice. Oh, we got some delicious homemade pralines and a little note on the bed while were downstairs eating dinner. It's a nice touch though I'm not crazy about "turn down service" which is just a fancy way of describing someone coming into your room after you've checked in, while you're out temporarily. #Weird There's also no phone in the room and no welcome note in the room telling you things like the wifi password. And of course, no cell signal since you're in Mayville. And we were a little disappointed that when we checked in just before 6 there was no wine or coffee or cookies or anything to greet us - a touch we're used to from other similar inns and b&bs. It's a lovely place with a very nice host/owner that just isn't quite there yet in terms of having all the kinks of new ownership worked out. The Horicon Marsh is close enough to Madison that next time, we'll just make it a day trip and go home.

Got a deal for this on living social. The hotel brought me into this small town and it was wonderful. The hotel is very old and had that vibe but the restoration was great. All rooms have the old school key and lock. The room was very nice with a comfortable bed. The jacuzzi tub was a great addition. The bed did squeak but that is okay, it was not too bad. The entire staff was arm and friendly and this hotel felt like a home away from away.
