Big cheesy pasty
Traditional Pasty
Half order of the chicken pot pie was well worth $5.50! It reminds me of a calzone. This is a must order here!

Blast from the past. It's nice to know that after all these years Teddywedgers is still slinging out wonderful pasties on the Capitol Square in Madison! My first Teddywedger was so long ago. They were great then and they still are now. Im sure an owner or two must have come and gone, but I'm so glad they kept the same name and really haven't changed the place much. For about $10 you can get a meal that's baked in a bread pocket. I recommend the chicken pot pie.... But they're all pretty great!

This is a very small take out place. There is not chairs. Plus there is barely space for 4 people to stand inside. I got a couple of pasties. Spicy traditional was my favorite. It was real spicy, plus had a lot of cheese. Big cheesy was good, but not as cheesy as the other one. Everything is available as half or full. Half is enough for one meal. I bought the full, and it came as 2 halfs, which I thought was convenient as I had it for 2 meals. Pasty was wrapped in aluminum foil and was super hot when I got it. Prices were reasonable for the quantity.

We got the regular (non-spicy) traditional pasty which was full of yummy beef, onion and potatoes. The portion was large with good bread! It was tasty and easy to eat, not messy! It maybe could have been slightly more salted, but it was very solid. Would try again! They also have specials (today's offering was chicken tikka pasty). The service staff was also very friendly!

Great breakfast on the go! I had the southwest pasty, full of yummy goodness! I ordered the whole but a half is plenty! Quick service, and it like NY ( just a pick up window) so plan on taking to go! Just across from the state capitol, great view!

This funky space caught my eye as a traversed State St. a few times, so I decided to check it out for my last breakfast. I rolled in as they were opening, but food was ready to go, wrapped in foil on the warming table. I really, really was jonesing for the house made hash (ya know I'm a fool for has if you read through my reviews) but no dice, so I went with the chorizo, which also had corn, black beans, and loads of gooey cheese. A half, at five bucks, was more than generous, and filling.

They had a table set up for Madison nights, I ran across them on my way to going out to dinner. This became my dinner, if you're not from Wisconsin or Michigan you might not know about pasties. Don't pronounce it like the little nipple covers strippers wear and you won't offend. The concept came with Cornish miners and is similar to other bland meat pies from what is now Great Britain. This place has added some non-traditional seasoning, and includes some non-traditional fillings. Like a traditional pasty, these are really big so an average person should share one. I don't like to share, so I ate to become uncomfortably full. Still when the young man selling them pointed out the apple pies that his mother made, I felt I had to get a slice. His mother made them. His mother makes everything at Teddywedgers. She's brilliant. Very affordable, which is probably due to the lack of indoor seating. This is the kind of food I like to get and sit down right away to eat, which only works during nice days in Spring and Fall here.

Stopped in on a chilly, windy Saturday and was so pleased to see they had vegan sweet potato and veggie pasties (better with hot sauce IMO). They're huge and pretty affordable with the choice to have half or whole. Not something I'd crave on a hot summer day, but it's perfect for fall or winter. I don't believe there was any seating inside so definitely a grab and go kind of place. Quick service!

So I live on the west coast and was longing for a teddywedger and had some family in town about to hit the road back to CA. I thought how awesome it would be to with one of my favorite foods from the past. So I sent the owners an impassioned email asking for advice on how best to bring that desire to fruition. All I received back was cricket pie! Thank goodness for the Yoopers who could help me out with a big order of 18 frozen pasties....You get 2 stars for my memory of the original owner on E. Johnson St.
