Taqueria Maria's

We received chips and salsa upon arrival, but not any waters for a little bit. When we asked for more chips we didn't get any. When the food arrived. My plate was missing and I am currently waiting for it right now. I'm watching the rest of my friends eat awkwardly waiting for my meal. Chips still haven't came. The manager came to check what the deal was and he immediately went to solve the problem. I got my plate about 8 minutes later and he made sure I was happy. Great job handling it by the manager. There was a lot of miscommunication throughout the whole experience that had an impact on the rating. The food after I got it was delicious. I'll definitely make another visit. Happy to give them another chance after the manager handled some problems respectfully.

Great ambience, bright and colorfully painted carvings on chairs, booths and walls. My wife and I had great steak taco salads with crispy taco bowls, lots of meat and includes guacamole and sour cream, and side of taco chips and salsa. Pleasant servers. We were very pleased. Spotless bathroom.

After work the gang wanted to do Taco Tuesday, and hey.............since I'm not from these parts of the mid-west I'd figure I'd give the Mexican fare a shot out here in Wisconsin.Having Mexican food is one of my favorite things, as I've eaten more than my share of Mexican fare when I worked all over Southern California, so my Mexican grindages standards possibly might be on the snobby side. Lol!Located in downtown Watertown, Wi. you can find this Mexican joint called - Taqueria Maria's. The restaurant itself looks very festive, as the very colorful interior is something to behold! We had a very large party (about 15 peeps), and I'm pretty sure we did not make any reservations in advance, but the restaurant staff was more than happy enough to accommodate our large party..........much MAHALO!After the Taqueria Maria's staff put a few tables together, our large party was seated, then menus & water were dropped off.........shortly after, baskets of fresh hot tortilla chips and (2) types of salsa was dropped off at the table.After looking over the menu I decided to give the Chiles Rellenos a try. The Chiles Rellenos dish, you got - (2) poblano peppers stuffed with your choice of: cheese, chicken, or shredded beef, and it was topped with Ranchera sauce. With this meal, you got rice, beans, & a salad.What can I say about the grub?Overall, the food here was just okay..........I've had much better in Southern California, but I guess for Wisconsin standards it's "okay". I found the rice & beans to be quite bland tasting, and the poblano peppers were rather on the small side......food wise, I would say a solid "3".I only bumped up a star for this place because the staff at Taqueria Maria's was very nice to accommodate our large party, and they took care of our special request.Service -Not sure if the staff was overwhelmed by our large party, but at times service appeared to be rather slow, but like I said before..........we had a lot of folks in our party, so it's probably understandable.Would I come back here in the near future for more Mexican grub? Sure, why not..........they do have quite a large menu, maybe worth it to give something else a try?

Great food! Came here with the wife and son for a quick lunch. We got everything we were looking for fast service good food and a decent margarita. I order the creamy fajita burrito. And the ice order the tamales. We both really enjoyed them.

We just moved here and have been to this restaurant 3 times already. Love it!!!We're from Chicago, so we've had our fair share of authentic Mexican food. Everything we've had here so far has been delicious and flavorful. The tamales are fluffy, which I've never had before here. I crave them. The notes:- they are NOT on doordash, so you will need to call and order. - they get busy, fast. I'm sure it's overwhelming to the servers, the bartender, and the kitchen. Be prepared to wait when you sit. Enjoy the time to look at the amazing ambiance while you wait, because you will be glad you did wait. Overall, we're expecting to be regulars here, and we suggest you do the same, but only if you're going to be nice to the staff as they bust their culos.

The food and service is always good. We love their chips and salsa while waiting for our main dishes. And the margaritas are amazing.

the lomo de res is absolutely disgusting. when i called to complain about how inedible the food was all they could say was that there was nothing they could do. even the manager admitted to not being able to eat it due to it being so spicy. my question is, why would you sell this greasy and spicy dish if the MANAGER couldn't even eat it. the meat was hard and overcooked. the meal comes with beans and rice but common sense must've been lacking when they decided to put in a tin container with no dividers. the sides were covered in greasy slop so i couldn't even eat that instead. business must be bad if they couldn't afford to remake my meal. they told me that the only way they would do it was if i rebought it.

I had the steak chimichanga. It was plain and boring. I'm used to having cheese mixed in with the meat inside the shell. This was just meat inside a shell. The steak was very over done. I won't order that again.
