This family owned establishment is a must try. Located right in Historic Mitchell Street, you can't miss it even if you tried. We dropped in for tacos as that's the most spoken thing and chose to dine in. It's very small but you don't need much room to grab a seat. There's also outside seating available in the summer time and it serves the same purpose seeing as there's table service. We were greeted immediately, given menus and someone was instantly waiting to take our order. I gave the steak taco, Al pastor and chorizo taco a try. One of each to ensure I got a well rounded opinion. Our tacos were served within 10 minutes on plates and you're given two salsas and a pepper mix. I'm not sure what's it called but it's a mixture of onions habanero peppers and cucumbers. Definitely adds an extra kick to your taco but trust the tacos don't need it. All of them were juicy and tender. The pineapple on the Al pastor was the best. That has to be my top fave of all three tacos. I highly recommend anyone to stop by this gem and try it.

I have driven past this place so many times and I have eaten in the neighborhood restaurant and trucks so I'm cashing in my bookmark today for the local restaurant to support. The dining room is closed so the side window with the small seating area is all you can do with the virus. I ordered two tacos one steak and one Al pastor with a side of beans. The food was ready in like four minutes and I was on my way.The tacos looked good and the beans were in a styrofoam container and a big side of beans it was. The beans were the thick/smooth style topped with cheese and I would say just average so nothing special. I tasted the steak and Al pastor by them self to taste the meat before I put hot sauce on the tacos so I could see which one was better because one always is but not this time because they were both good. The steak taco with cilantro and onions was very good with seasoned steak and the corn tortillas stood out because they had a good corn flavor. The Al pastor was the same but with tasty pork. This is definitely a good place for tasty tacos and I would definitely stop back for more of the menu.

Maybe the owners read Yelp reviews because short of a brief disappearing act by the servers, who likely needed a breather from the slammed lunch rush, I had an outstanding visit. The place is small, a few tables for 2-4 guests and maybe 10 seats at the diner counter, and nearly everyone was full. I did find an empty stool at the counter and sat. Only a few seconds past before a young lady greeted me and took my drink order. The menus were in a small crate right in front of me so I grabbed one. I ordered 2 steak tacos, a chicken taco, and a side of rice and beans. She told me the chicken was mixed with a salsa verde and asked if I was ok with that. I was. She also asked if I wanted onion and cilantro, and I did. The food came out a few minutes later, hot and fresh, and every bite was delicious! I especially loved the flavor of the steak and the chicken in salsa verde. I was full, but when I looked up and saw the spit of Al Pastor waiting to be sliced and served, I caved in and order an Al Pastor taco, and it was a great call! I also added the horchata, which was also very good.It was easily the boldest and most flavorful Al Pastor meat I've had in town! garnished with onion, cilantro, and pineapple, it was pure delight.i was also impressed by the "relish tray" that came out with cucumber, radish, onions & hit peppers (and it was hot), and lime wedges, so I could customize further if I wanted to. There were four large containers of flavored "agua fresca" near the register that I hope to try on my next visit, as well as the Quesadilla that the guy next to me ordered. It wasn't the typical flat flour tortilla version. This was a house made corn masa tortilla version, very generously filled with meat. When I asked, the guy next to me told me it was a traditional dish in Mexico. Sold and sold again! I want! The menu is small, but big enough. Most items are pictured in the menu in the form of a special. This is a legit family-owned and operated business, with the owners teenage kids working, too. The tacos were among the very best I've had in Milwaukee, and I'd put this place in my top 5 for sure, maybe top 3. I can't wait to go back!

Milwaukee has many authentic Mexican taquerias to choose from, and Los Gallos is high on the list. We stopped on a Saturday afternoon looking for tacos al pastor from the trompo (the vertical spit method of cooking similar to how shawarma is prepared). This is a small shop with a few tables and a counter. I'm a big fan of the counter and that's were we sat. On this trip we only ordered tacos and were pleasantly pleased with the food. Tacos al pastor and tacos de pollo for me. Seasoning was deep and flavorful. The pastor was hot and fresh off the trompo con cebolla y cilantro. Washed down with a cold horchata, it hit the spot. Highly recommended.

1st time here...Tried this place's version of the "CALIFORNIA BURRITO"Uhhhh no sir it's a no go for me..The main Ingredients of a California burrito are guacamole, sour cream, fries, and meat.I've had a bomb burrito in San Diego and was kinda expecting some thing similar..Nope they let me down...they don't even make guacamole.Anyways the melon water was ok. I give it

Went these for their Al Pastor tacos. They are made the right way which is on the "trompo" which is a great start for a real taco lover. The taco itself is actually great, and the meat is tender, charred, and full of flavor. The only down side to the taco is actually what makes or breaks a good taco.. the salsas. The salsas are not really that flavorful and that kind of takes away actual flavor from the taco itself. With better tasting salsas it would be a 10/10 for me,

One of my favorite spots in town for authentic Mexican! The owner is super friendly and cool. Only place i know in town that has carne asada fries and a Cali burrito in the menu. The al pastor is always on point and they always have pineapple on hand. I like to think of this as my secret spot!

Great spot for al pastor tacos. They have the meat roasting on the spit in front of you and load it up with super flavorful pineapple and onions. If you want to do some yelp sleuthing, check out the crazy lady's reviews (1 star uncooked rice). She has been hitting all the spots with her rice reviews like a weirdo. This place is really yummy.
