Pozole was delicious very authentic, watch out for bones! Shrimp tacos were perfectly cooked and a nice size shrimp. Counter service with seating available. The location is also a grocery store. Clean space very casual, definitely would take it to go next time. Chips & salsa not included but it is available to order separately.

Second time in here. Starting to recall the same thoughts and vibe that occurred that time as well. This place is a dump. All the religious trinkets are a flashback to my brief (not brief enough) visit to Tijuana last March. The major difference is this place is safely north of the border. The four men in this place, two behind the counter in the kitchen and two talking and drinking Tecates in Spanish. No attempt at cordiality or politeness. I wish I would've just walked out and spend $30 at the Chinese place next door or subway in the next strip mall 2 km south. But instead I'm sitting here looking at the bag of tacos and hoping they taste better than they currently smell. Upon walking in my home and opening the package and observing each of the two styrofoam boxes containing my tacos (3ea. Carnitas and steak) as well as some festive looking Santa Claus Holiday Corn Chips (Red and Green?!??) and finding the guacamole not included, as well as any sour cream. Pico too is nada. The tacos while stuffed with meat, only have raw onions and not a simple garnish of cilantro but a flourish as though it's a substitute for lettuce etc. Do they taste good? Aside from literally biting into a bone fragment on the very first bite, they are actually not bad. The meat is tender and juicy and plentiful. I ate the first as is. Adding my own sour cream and pico plus habanero sauce to the others brought them into the "way better" realm. My initial words still stand. Being very uncomfortable and not remotely welcome feeling, coupled with the place being a slice of the mean streets of TJ, perhaps by design, I want to leave one lone star. As well as stale festival December corn chip triangles, no guacamole that was an upcharged item, I am likely not bothering a return visit. Possibly what I told myself a couple years back when I first checked this out. But because the tacos themselves were at least filling, I'm going to call them "likely an authentic taco"Three stars. Nope, just two. The chips are being dumped because they bend. Not break.

Decent Taqueria... fast friendly service. You order at the counter to go or for seating. This place is casual but good. They have a little attached market that's fun to browse... you'll probably end up with something from the market as well as your meal :) I've never had a bad meal here...Never been disappointed. I'm a fan of their tamales... and I do fancy good tamales. They have beer and Mexican sodas. It's a wholesome experience dine in or carry out. It's easy to miss... it's tucked in a little strip mall next to a carry out Chinese joint and a nail salon behind the Starbucks - hope you find it!

Great takeout joint, and great value! Delicious tacos - we enjoyed each one we ordered - flaky fish tacos, perfectly plump shrimp, and tender tongue tacos! The pastor sope had chunks of pineapple. The guac was yummy, with chunks of avocado. The only thing that underwhelmed was the chicken chimichanga z which was mostly filled with rice, and chimichanga itself was not crisp on the outside.

So, Taqueria Gonzalez continues to be my taco staple. They are one of the best taco joints I've found in the Madison area and I keep going back. I started ordering directly from the Taqueria instead of through a third party app, so figured it was time to update my review. I still love that I can order tacos a la carte without the rice/beans combo which I always just end up wasting. The meat proportion was ample for each taco, and they don't add any unnecessary fillers - just the cilantro and onion. So good. I found both sauces to be a bit too spicy for my liking (I am such a baby when it comes to spice, though, so don't take my word for it) but oh well. I keep saying I'm going to check out the options in the actual grocery store part when I go pick up my order and always forget. Either way, service is super quick and staff if really nice. I have very real intentions of dining in one day instead of doing takeout so I can enjoy a margarita, hopefully soon!

This place was okay. We were so hyped up to try an authentic Mexican place. It was not it. We got barbacoa and fried fish plates. The barbacoa was tender but salty. The fried fish was crispy but had absolutely no flavors. The salad went with them had this weird dressing. However, their chips were great. The guac and salsa were good. The pico de gallo was okay not great. My boyfriend didn't like their rice because of the broth they used to cook it. I thought it was fine. We were disappointed with the experience.

I used to love this place. Got their shrimp tacos every Saturday. A couple of years ago I think they sold as I started to see new workers. First they overcooked the shrimp, but almost worse: the smell of Fabuloso cleaning solution. It is so strong it makes you sick AND has no business near food. Can't go back. That is the worst, strongest smelling cleaning solution and it's showing up everywhere. ICK.

Great tacos every time, but yesterday I tried the torta. It's massive, loaded with a dozen things, and every bite is different and delicious. If you want a sandwich the size of a football? Torta. If you want 3 delicious tacos, where every meat selection is a great call? 3 tacos plate. Either way: every single time I've ordered here it's been great. Fast service (when they say ready in 10 minutes, they mean it! even at dinner time), too. A+ all around. Love this place.
