Tacos El Norte

strip mall restaurant- visited on a Tuesday evening... only a few others dining in. Service was friendly and quick. Not a fan of the complementary bland salsa, or the chips, which did not seem fresh made. Anyway- they are complementary, so can't knock them too much. The ground beef tacos and the tostada were great - and I think these prices are 20% less than any other local spots

We wanted some good tacos so we ordered some takeout. I had tacos pastor, my wife had a chicken chimichanga and we split an order of guacamole. The order was ready as promised and tasted great! Though we didn't eat in the restaurant this time, the quality and flavor was great and the prices were good. We will likely eat there at some point, since it seemed like a comfortable, family friendly place.

This restaurant USED to be our go-to but it sure has changed over the last year. My husband, daughter and I went there for dinner Tuesday. We ordered 2 steak taco dinners and a chimichanga dinner. The steak in the tacos was INEDIBLY SALTY! I am by NO MEANS anti-salt, but this burned my mouth. I look across the table at my daughter and see the look on her face (SHE is salt sensitive). We were 1 of 3 tables in there for dinner (about 6pm) yet the server was NO WHERE to be seen. The young man at the register was too busy chatting up someone waiting for their to-go order to see me trying to get his attention so I took the plates up to him at the counter (still cannot even see where my server was). I asked him if they salted the meat before (marinade) or during/after cooking. He said before (so it could not be adjusted). We have been customers for over 9 years and have NEVER had a complaint about the seasoning so I'm hoping it was a mistake. He asked if we'd like anything else. I had to get menus and look since THAT is what I order every time. We both decided on the flautas. The server came over to take our replacement order and I assumed since we had no chips, salsa, or beverages, she would have brought at least water back. We waited a while- again only 3 tables including us and 1 to-go customer. Meanwhile, my husband was done and we STILL had empty beverage cups and no chips or salsa. The server didn't even bother coming over until our order was ready. She brought our food and went to walk away, and I asked if we could get some more water. Come on....again....3 tables in the entire restaurant... So, we finished our dinner, and she came back with the check. THEY UPCHARGED US FOR THE FLAUTAS. This had to be a mistake, right? We did not even want the flautas. WE WANTED EDIBLE STEAK TACOS! My daughter couldn't believe it so she went up to talk to the man at the register. He said there was an upcharge for the flautas. FIRST OF ALL-we DIDN'T want the flautas. Because of YOUR mistake, the steak was INEDIBLE. We did not expect a free meal, just not an upcharge. SECOND- we have been regular customers for NINE years! They know us! We have been served burnt chimichangas and grisly steak before and just let them fix it without a fuss. Mistakes happen. But you are going to upcharge for something that costs LESS to make????? We ordered ground beef flautas which is just ground beef wrapped in corn tortillas and deep fried. WE WERE FINE PAYING FOR THE STEAK IN CORN TORTILLAS WHICH ALSO CAME WITH CILANTRO AND ONION! So you are going to upcharge us for YOUR mistake for a CHEAPER meal??? Make this make sense!? The worst part is they argued with her for the longest time. THAT alone.....was UNACCEPTABLE! So, I wonder how much MORE money they will lose not having our business for the next 9 years?? I wonder if it will be more than the $7 in upcharges??? I absolutely CANNOT and WILL NOT set foot in their restaurant nor can I recommend this place to ANYONE. The food may NOT be edible, and the service is TERRIBLE! No wonder the entire time we were there, we only saw three tables and 1 to-go customer on a "Taco Tuesday". There are SO MANY other options in this town alone! Stay away...

Food and service is great. Especially love the chicken tacos and the pork tamales. The ambiance is nice as well, Spanish music on in background, not too loud or overwhelming.

To me, a restaurant that brings back the flavors from home, where I can get a really good pozole this mes patrio & year-round, as well.To my husband, the best tacos in Wisconsin! I tried the milanesa, and is very good. And to my surprise, they also have agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water)! This is the first Mexican restaurant where I can find it. And it's good! Highly recommended! ***Para mí, un restaurante que sabe a los sabores de casa; donde puedo encontrar pozole y disfrutarlo este mes patrio y el resto del año, también. Para mí esposo, los mejores tacos que hay en Wisconsin!Pedí la milanesa y está muy buena. Para mi sorpresa, tienen agua de jamaica! Este es el primer restaurante mexicano que la ofrece. Y está muy rica, aunque un poquito dulce. Se los recomiendo!

Seems every El Norte location is equally fantastic. Good margaritas, really good tacos and the shrimp diablo is super good. Will go again.

We ordered from here on a weekend. Ordered the chicken flautas which my kids helped devour and they don't even like Mexican food. My husband ordered the steak burrito, which I tried and found that delicious. My husband went in and picked up our order so I cannot comment on anything in the restaurant but my family has been ordering her for years and their quality always remains the same. We got the horchata that my kids also helped me drink!

Free chips and salsa with your meal. Food prep to table was excellent. Great prices! Come sit down at a table and enjoy the food.

I would like to express my experience here. To start it was not great! My parents took me out to dinner to celebrate my birthday we were a party of 4 adults and 3 children mind you it is not my first time eating here... the service was awful she made me not want to be there at all the way she was engaging with our party was not good what's so ever ! I understand people can have a bad day but you need to maintain professional especially when it come to offering service! I will be specking to management in the morning to address my un satisfaction!

We've been going to Tacos el Norte for about 20 years. Always loved their food. But after tonight we will never go back. They have forgotten to give us some of our order the last three times we've ordered over the last two months, and never wanted to hassle calling and driving back. But tonight we did call after we got home to let them know they didn't give us three tacos. They asked us to hold on and we listened as he was talking to his cook for a minute or two. He came back on the phone and said "yeah, we all talked about it and agree we put all the tacos in". That was that. No apology. No offer to make them. No offer to make them and give us a free order of guacamole for the incredible hassle... Basically calling us a liar. Blew our minds. We ordered about $60 of food for our family. We told them this was ridiculous- the idea that we would try and scam them for three tacos, like we WANT to drive all the way back to their restaurant to pick up 3 tacos. An insane way to handle a customer situation like this. Completely shady mentality if you ask us. Never again. This is not how you treat your customers.
