This is a great place to get a flight of beer, if you're into that sort of thing. Also, if you're into trying unusual beers (like shandys, sours, beer made with juniper berries, etc.), this is the place for you. There's a beer here that looks slime green! When I visited, I visited solely for beer. And that's pretty much all they have, because this place isn't a restaurant, it's a brewery. They do have a few nibbly things like soft pretzels, but that's about it. Our bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Elkhart Lake area (she gave us some food tips), and she got to everyone's orders quickly. The brewery itself is fun and casual, with lots of seating indoors and outdoors.

A nice family place to hang out. A few pizza options. Service was good. Beer is average.

I stopped in twice in a weekend during schnee days and felt like this bar actually was able to abide by social distancing rules more so than other bars since not many people were there and it's a huge bar so everyone was spaced out for the most part. They have complimentary popcorn and have a bunch of board games. We learned how to play mancala as he sipped on a craft beer. I didn't try the food but hopefully next time I'm in town I will. Hopefully they enforce the mask mandate and socially distant rules more during their busy times but if you go on a Sunday or at a off time, it's a nice laid back bar.

I visit Elkhart Lake numerous times each summer when we come to race with our team at Road America in IMSA and SRO etc. Have now been to Switchgear three times. The beer is ok, nothing to write home about, but the reason for my one star review is how the ownership (which consists of 3 or 4 men it appears) and staff have interacted with our group on all occasions. Granted we are not townies, and may differ from appearance of the fine Wisconsin folks (who we love) but Switchgear is not a "safe" or welcoming place. I'll refrain from posting certain words and phrases that were used as they'd clearly violate the family friendly standards of Yelp but let's just say they have no place in 2023. We were made to feel unwanted and indeed threatened by the proprietors, including such comments as "thank God we got people like YOU out of the Military" etcetera. Reading the other reviews here based on my experience they are from the inner circle of friends and family of Switchgear? Again this review is based on 3 visits and since you can get average craft beer anywhere these days I'd suggest anywhere but here. My group only hopes for enlightenment and acceptance for the SG owners and staff as life is too short for anger and H8. Thank you for reading and see you (elsewhere) in Elkhart next race season!

I visited SwitchGear Brewing on 6/17/22 during the day. I visit craft breweries as a hobby. SwitchGear is a nice little brewery in the heart of a small town east of Sheboygan. It is on a Main Street with ample parking. It appears to be decorated with a lot of deliberate intention to make it fun and inviting to patrons. This is also displayed in their chalk board announcing their tap list which had great personality in the art work. They have two main rooms and I sat in the main taproom. The young lady who served me was friendly and knowledgeable about the beer. They had some canned selections in a refrigerator to take home and they also fill growlers. I got a flight of four which included their popular wheat, the Pontoon Pounder which was clean and tasty. I also tried a couple sours which were a bit too much for me, but well brewed. I got a free brewery sticker when asked & was able to connect to Wi-Fi easily with solid service. Nice place, friendly service, and a good selection of beers.

Fun place in a small town. Great beer, great people, and great atmosphere. This is a brewery that isn't afraid to try new things, and seems to come up with some fun and interesting flavors. Kim was our "beertender" for the night, and did an excellent job. Stop in, you won't regret it!!

Our family has been coming to Elkhart lake for 10 years and we've seen a few businesses move in and out of the feed mill. This is by far my favorite. I hope they last forever. The service was excellent- kind wi small town feel. There's great popcorn and pretzels to munch on while you drink. Now to the important part... the beer was excellent. They have a big selection on tap outside of what they brew themselves. The wheat bear they brew and the brown ale were excellent. My dad goes to breweries all over the country(keeps a beer journal to keep track of all the brews he's tried) and knows a great beer. If you're in Elkhart don't miss this new gem.
