Well. I debated giving them one star but the actual lanes were decent so I guess 2 is fair. The bar/bartender was the biggest issue with my experience. There was one woman for the entire place and it appeared she also took food out to the lanes- which means she disappeared two or three times while we were waiting to place our order. I believe every single lane was taken, and there's only one person to take orders, make drinks AND serve? WHAT? She also seemed to have no awareness whatever of who came first, and helped at least 3 different people before us that had approached while we were waiting. When the food did come out maybe 20 minutes later it was plopped down at the back table by our lane and left- whoever brought it didn't say a word. It might have been sitting there for a solid 5-10 minutes since I wasn't monitoring the back table every second. Overall the food wasn't bad- but left me crazy frustrated. The people at the desk were helpful but quite slow when we asked for the bumpers to be taken down at our lane. I don't have any significant feelings on their service otherwise. My fellow bowlers said they love coming here, but typically come during the week- so maybe the busy weekend wasn't right for a first impression- I've worked in customer service and am willing to cut a bit of slack per their review. All in all I will stick to my usual new berlin ale house where things seem a bit more professional and servers are always quick and attentive- even on league nights when it's crazy hectic.

My wife and I came to Sunset Bowl for my niece's birthday party and it was eh....We had an hour of bowling for the kid's and then paid for a lane for some of the adults to bowl. No issues with the bowling. Everything worked fine and the kids had fun. Then we had lunch in the "Arcade" area. My sister let me know earlier that there were some significant issues with planning the party with them. The pricing and what was included kept changing. Originally they were supposed to include tokens for the arcade, but then didn't want to include them because some of the games didn't work and they didn't want to get bad reviews because of that. They said that the games were run by another company. My issue is, that even if they are owned and run by another company, the companies that you work with and associate with are a reflection on yours. Anyways, after a fight with Sunset Bowl they got the tokens. And they were right, not all of the games worked. They had frozen pizzas for lunch, which were nothing special, but they weren't the worst frozen pizzas I have ever had. They also provided pitchers of soda and lemonade. At around 2pm, one of the employees came up to my sister and told her that our time was up. Apparently, when my sister booked the party she was told they would have until 2:30 pm. The employee rudely told her that wasn't the case in front of the party guests and of course the employee that told her 2:30 wasn't working on the weekends. If you are looking for a place to have a party, I would do the bowling at Sunset Lanes, but find somewhere else to eat and socialize.

When we started league play two years ago, this was the best place ever. Now, however, things have gone downhill. I think it's lack of management presence -- the owner or his trusted people used to be there all the time, but no more -- now it's just vacuous people who don't seem to care. For example, there was always popcorn for us league bowlers -- no more -- the last two weeks there wasn't any, and I told the girls at the counter twice, and each time they just stared at me -- didn't say anything, just stared, like I was insane -- and no popcorn until half the evening was over. Same thing when I told them no toilet paper in the mens room -- just a blank stare. And if you get a pink pin, forget about waving and yelling -- they don't see and hear because they are too busy yacking with each other or eating to notice. No wonder so many people each year are grousing about finding another place to do our league bowling.

My boyfriend and I had a great time on our Sunday night. Not crowded like the other bowling alleys. Good food, good prices, nice place, and conveniently located off Sunset. It was our first time there and we'll definitely be back :)
