For a grocery store compared to stores we shop at, this one is pretty pricey. Their selection is that of a small Kroger's. Never had any issues with any staff but I also never needed them as well. I was greeted by multiple staff being here early in the morning which is always nice. Overall it's a grocery store you get your needs and get out. If you want cheaper prices from my experience you find yourself a meijer or Walmart :).

I have just one experience with Sullivan's, but it was a REALLY good one!We spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to track down a specific beer. We spent the night in Omaha, and we were seeking any beer with "monkey" in the title - long story, work-related thing. So while we prepared for sleep on the second night of our cross-country journey, he perused local (ish) brewery websites and found one from Tall Grass Brewing in Manhattan KS called Zombie Monkey. He was obsessed with getting it.We called the brewery, who led us to the distributor, whose phones were not working. We went on red alert internet search mode and discovered that Sullivan's might have some. We called and sure enough - two four packs. They kindly agreed to hold them for us. We left Omaha and spent a lovely day finding fun, weird stuff throughout Iowa on our way to Illinois. Along the way, I called a few times to let them know we promised to be there before they closed. Toward the end of the day, we actually had to race to get there on time. The last time I called, at 9:45pm, I explained we were racing to get there before they closed but if we were a minute or two late to PLEASE let us just hand them cash through the door. The guy seemed to know who I was and why I was calling - he was so nice. We got there literally at 10pm on the dot. The guy met my husband at the door, had the beer on ice and ready to go.The guy said, this must be some pretty special beer! My man explained the situation and said they were literally the only place in three states we could find that had it. They were so nice to keep it for us all day, have it ready and cold, and potentially have waited for us. Very sweet people doing their part to make two total strangers very happy. Thanks to everyone at Sullivan's for just being kind.

This store has its priorities screwed up. If you need Bourbon it's pretty good they a hundred beside the many hidden in the managers office (weird). If you need to do some gambling it's pretty good. They have a whole section of the deli removed for the machines (very weird). If you need some good proper Chicago French bread or real giardinera you will be out of luck. You'll get olive salad and long hot dog buns. I'm used to Jewel, Mariano's, and local produce stores. This store will get you the basics or poor imitations of good groceries. I'm going to have to do my shopping by work from now on to make a good meal.

I began using Sullivan's curbside service a couple of months ago, due to the pandemic and my husband's scheduled open heart surgery. I have always been able to get my order filled within 24 hours, at a time that is convenient to me.I have used the service several times. A couple of times I had questions about coupons, meal deals, and pricing on per pound items. Every time I called I was treated with courtesy and respect.Additionally, the workers who deliver the bagged items to the back of my car have always been masked and prompt.

If you care about your health and those around you, stay far away. Despite a state mandate requiring masks, 80% of their employees are not masked. When I asked why, I was told their corporate headquarters told employees they do not have to wear masks.

Crappy employer, prices are too high. Most of the staff are stuck up, especially the produce lady.

Many of the staff here are very nice and helpful, but I'd forgotten why we stopped shopping here a few years ago--until today. The cashier staff is rude and incompetent. When I complained about the problems, the cashier, a ditzy young blonde about age 20, replied to me, a senior citizen of 70, "If you don't like it WalMart is right up the road." No apology, no explanation. Perhaps it did not occur to her that the money we spend there pays her salary. This is due to only one factor--her boss is an incompetent moron who lacks the ability to select and then train employees properly. That is the fault of the store manager. There are many other, better quality, food stores in this area--Topway in Pecatonica is a great store only 4 miles away. I encourage shoppers to take their business to Topway. It is a locally owned store that works hard to please its customers. Of course, it is not perfect, but it is a 100% better shopping experience than Sullivans in Winnebago. This review does NOT apply to the other Sullivans in the area--stores with properly trained, friendly, and appropriately acting personnel. If there was a 0-Star Rating, this store would own it.
