This a great store with an awesome collection of fine adult beverages! The wines can be on the pricey side and since I'm usually super happy with the average or slightly above average wines of the world, so those marked down on sale have never disappointed! They are actually stellar. Featured are many wines, also spirits, and beers. I would say the focus is in that order. There are classes going on in the back sometimes and a list you can add your email to at the register. Although I don't think I've seen an email come through since joining the list about 1-2 months ago, hmmmm.Anyways, a definite recommend over a grocery store or another liquor store that many don't take price in their assortment offerings. Steve's really does!

The majority of this store contains various wines, but they also carry some beers, liquors, and mixers. The wine variety is vast.

While out on the town in Maddison we needed to stop for some party supplies and we stopped here. This is a very nice liquor store to say the least with a wonderful selection of everything you could imagine. There is a room off to the side which was like a mini store with a cheese case and other items. There is a selection of meats and cheeses in the cold case. There is even a cooled filled with take home pizzas and other food items. This is one stop shop for everything to have a great get together. This really is a unique liquor store and I can see why this place is popular.

What a great knowledgeable staff and the selection of beers, vines, spirits, and ciders is remarkable. I asked for a passion fruit variant of a Rekorderlig Cider, a Swiss cider that I had only seen in Spain, and they put in a special order for it and it arrived a week later. Ask and they will do there best to find it for you. There mix-and-match section is one of the best around and don't forget they have a crowler station! They has a nice selection of fancy chocolates, both local and imported, cheeses, charcuterie, nuts, spreads, and a frozen section with more options to pair with you preferred libations. Enjoy.

I love Steve. Never met him but I love him, his store and his staff.Wine has become a recently started journey for me and I don't really know what I like. I know wine is red or white (sometimes pink and other colors) but I don't know all the subtle nuances, types, varieties, etc. that most experienced wino's know. Walking into Steve's could make you feel intimidated because of the MASSIVE amount of wine selections they have, but that's where I think Steve's separates themselves from other wine stores - their staff is top notch and have an answer for every question I have had.The staff is extremely knowledgeable and easy to approach. They don't have the "I know more about wine than you do" attitude and are ready, willing and able to spend as much time with you as you need in order to find what you are looking for. As an example, I knew I was looking for a barbera wine but I had no idea what to specifically look for and what to expect (truth be told - a friend of mine who is REALLY into wine told me to try a barbera). I got a full lesson in barbera wine and was pointed to some suggested bottles. Even if it was the crappiest bottle of wine I ever tasted (it was not) I still would have felt the same about the store and staff.I think the store succeeds on so many different levels and is exactly what anyone is looking for when trying to shop for wine, beer or liquor. The "kid in a candy store" analogy can be used when describing Steve's if you are looking for wine, beer or that special bottle of liquor that you can't seem to find anywhere else. The other thing to consider is that this is a locally owned store. In the big picture, it's a small bullet point but something that should be added into the mix.I really, really like Steve's and would HIGHLY recommend stopping in when looking for anything that may contain alcohol. It definitely is the only place I stop in town when shopping for wine. Give the staff here a try with some wine questions and recommendation requests - I think you'll be just as impressed as I am!!!

Good selection, decent prices, and much better wine advice than is available at most other stores in the area. I just wish Steve's had an outlet on the east side of Madison.

I had a party for Nursing Student Scholarship Fundraiser at Elver Park (4 miles on city roads) and ordered 2 1/2 barrels. I had two men pick up the 1/2 barrels one of which was a bar tender. We had over 200 people in attendance. The day was hot and breezy. The band played and people danced. We tapped one barrel. We could not get the beer to pour well. More than 3/4 of a glass was foam after about 10 mins of pouring and dumping beer. The bartender decided to tap the other barrel. The same thing happened. We attempted to remove the foam and toss out the beer again. Then the flow of the beer diminished. We gently pumped the tapper and still excessive foam. I returned BOTH 1/2 barrels with over 3/4 or more of the beer still in it. When returned, I explained what we did and was told that it was OUR FAULT by over pumping or bouncing the 1/2 barrels in transit. I was appalled. Who would return the barrels almost full of $400 dollars of beer? I asked if I could receive a discount. I was told no since it was probably our fault. I highly doubt the Steve's kept the beer in the cooler long enough from transit on their distributor's truck to decrease the foam.Absolutely poor customer service and poor management of beer distribution.

Steve's has a lot of great liquor that isn't easy to find, as well as lots of stuff you'd expect as well. I dropped in because I was hunting Pernot absinthe, and ended up walking out with the absinthe, a bottle of genever and some rye I hadn't been able to find around town.
