So...many...choices
shelves of liquor in a liquor store
Stay Thirsty!
This whiskey was recommended from another store but they have it here. Comparable pricing.
Back of the pâté package, all good ingredients I can read, no fillers, women owned co., ethical alliances - and it tastes amazing!
This cheese -- YES, YES, YES! $5 is a bargain for this flavor~
This Piña Joe Lada is amazing! I've come to really trust that everything Steve's sells is going to be awesome!
More singles.
This pâté is amazing!!!! For $6, too! AND, it's a woman owned company. Seriously try this :) available at both locations.
The good stuff.
Steve's storefront.
They have Potter's crackers. Nueske's bacon but I got sticks and an assortment of in-state cheeses. More than liquor.

Steve's is just out of this world! I didn't realize until recently that there are two locations: University Ave & Junction Rd. Both have similar stuff and if you need a light dinner or snacks, don't go to a separate store, buy them from Steve's, too! Everything I've tried in their cooler has been suuuper awesome. The pâté I thought, well this can go either way... if it sucks, oh well. But it's SO GOOD! And the package has all the good stuff I like to see like Rainforest Alliance and Women Owned and no weird ingredients I can't pronounce or fillers. Really, if you like pâté, you will like the Alexian Pâté De Champagne! Then there's this truffle cheese... oh my it's a gorgeous flavor! And only 6 bucks. You'll be so glad you did.I've tried several wines and usually look for the sales, and I've never been disappointed! Recently I purchased an IPA with pineapple and coconut and thought this could be weird if not executed right... then I remembered: I'm at Steve's! They don't sell anything that isn't really good!!! And that was some amazing beer by Fair State Brewing Cooperative. Well done. So, it's worth it to stop at Steve's versus and grocery store. You'll get a better selection. And because of the results in what I've purchased at either store several times now, I believe they workers at Steve's taste everything before they sell it! Stuff is all so good that they sell!

When I lived on the west side, this location of Steve's was my go-to. Since leaving the area I still find myself here at least a couple times a year. Something that sets Steve's apart is that every single person I've ever talked to there is knowledgable about not only what they sell, but the beer & liquor scene in general. If I'm having trouble locating something they have been able to point me to the correct case or let me know when they plan to get it in. For example, I tried a seasonal cider that I fell in love with at a beer festival, and though they didn't have it they knew it was coming in the next month without having to look it up. Speaking of cider, I do wish they had a wider variety, but I'm probably in the minority on that - beer rules in Madison. The store can also feel a little claustrophobic, but on the flip side the close quarters come from having a huge stock of items to choose from. Getting into the parking lot has become a bit more of a bear since the Junction Road redesign a couple years ago, but there's not a whole lot Steve's can do about that. All in all, these are small quibbles that shouldn't keep you away from one of (if not the) most knowledgable shops in Madison!

My first time in this place and I was truly blown away by the wide variety of craft beer they have.... Lots of mix-n-match options which I enjoy. This gives me the chance try everything without purchasing and entire 6 pack or 4 pack. The staff was extremely friendly. They were very helpful and knowledgable of thier items. I felt everything was priced fairly. They had a wonderful booze selection and wines as well. Highly suggest stopping in sometime and browsing through all the goodies! Get used to seeing this face because I will be back!Cheers

Steve's is my primary stop for all things alcohol. I've been visiting one location or another for over a decade, depending on where I lived at the time, mainly because they've always got me covered regardless of what I'm looking for.I'm that anomalous Wisconsinite who doesn't really like most beers or wine. Steve's carries my favorite Belgian fruit beers (Lindemans) and a nice selection of hard ciders, including Island Orchard (Door County). Even better, they have a small selection of meads, like local Bos Meadery (Madison) and B. Nektar (Michigan). Yum! I look forward to trying some of the Sake they carry one of these days. So if you're looking for something a little different, Steve's has your back.I may not like most beer, but I know good beer via others and they carry a great selection of craft brews. I'm always finding new stuff to bring home for my partner's tasting pleasure. He was over-the-moon for their choices of 'proper' Irish whiskey. The few wines that I do love are always here, and they occasionally have a vendor in doing tastings. If you're getting ready for a party Steve's also keeps a cooler of meats and cheeses. This is where I first came across Carr Valley's Menage, and they always have Nuske's Landjaeger in stock. An unexpected bonus: I always stop here for our preferred (100% hardwood) charcoal. To top all of this off, the staff are extremely helpful. More than once they've called another location to see if something they're out of is in stock there. If it is, the other location will set it aside so I can run across town to get it. When Bos released a new mead, they happily ordered two bottles for me and promptly let me know when my order was ready for pickup. I've also had no problem calling ahead to see if something is in stock; they've always been willing to hold an item. When you like the less common stuff, that's a great big win.All around fantastic service and selection. Sure, I buy liquor at other places if convenient or unique, but I definitely prefer coming here.

I always come here when I'm visiting the Agrace thrift store next door. What I like most about Steve's Liquor are their prices. My husband loves Monkey Shoulder Scotch and they have it at a super competitive price ($30). I was also pleased last time to find a 92 point scotch for $23. Finally, when I was in here last, I had a lot of things to carry and the gentleman behind the counter was gracious enough to carry out the bottles I purchased to my car (and I didn't even have to ask!). Would highly recommend Steve's Liquor for all your boozy needs!

When we're in the area one of us always says "Let's stop by Steve's". This place is a little tucked in from Junction road but easily accessible. Walking into a LARGE selection of wines, beer, cheeses, etc. you'll be sure to find something for just about anyone. It's always clean, well lit, and staff is friendly. Will keep coming back for sure. Prices are absolutely reasonable as well.
