SteelTank Brewing

I have been sleeping on this review because I wanted to go back a second time. My first trip was in November 2023 and my second time was last night. The place is veteran owned and has a military flare to the decor. For our area, this is welcome and we have nothing like it. They also frequently have live music, and I do love me some live music. The service has been great both time I was there. I sat at the bar the first time and a table the second...just to make sure the service was great in both locations! Of course bar service is always faster because you are right in front of them, but I will say I did not have to wait at any point to sit, order, or pay. They were friendly and genuinely wanted to make sure everything tasted as good as it looked. When I go to places that run specials I am voted less likely to order off the menu and I have stuck with that philosophy with SteelTank. The first time I had a steak and shrimp pasta. It was so good I could not stop eating it. I ate nearly all of it and had zero regrets, but I was happy I had a few bites left to enjoy the next day. Second stop, Sausage & Pepperoni stuffed Bavarian pretzel. This pizza of the week is delicious! The pretzel is cut in half and stuffed and not hollowed out as most places do. You can see from the pictures it is stuffed and you can taste the pizza. Greens with a pizza you say? YES! So good, the vinaigrette dressing that is on that pretty little salad is making my mouth water as I type! Specials were not mentioned either time I went. The specials are posted on Facebook and that is how I knew about SteelTank and what I should order. That would be my only complaint, when you receive a menu patrons should be told what the specials are - or - post it somewhere so people know.

This place is awesome. The service is incredible and so is the beer. My favorite so far after quite a few is the blood orange fruit beer. Incredible nose on this beer with a moderate ABV coming in at 5.3. Their hazy Steel rain is also fantastic. Look forward to coming back

I would not recommend this place. We were seated quickly but it took 10 minutes before we even got asked out drink order, and another 30 minutes before we were asked about food. We waited so long I was able to write this review. There seems to be plenty of staff but slow and unorganized. Our waiter had people coming up to order because he didn't stop by the tables. We watched as he went and helped out behind the bar, poured most of his own drinks, and split huge checks. A lot of these things should've been handled by other staff and help from others. We could see him walking around and dealing with other people, but wouldn't stop by to reassure us and let us know wait times. We waved him down multiple times, other tables were getting served before our section. The distribution of staff was poor. We didn't even end up getting our food, and cancelling our order after an HOUR AND A HALF! We asked what the eta was on the food, and no definite answer, just "awhile". Other people were cancelling their orders and everyone looked disappointed. I have never been so disappointed in service.

We tried several of their beers at a local festival and enjoyed every one of them. Today we were in area and stopped for lunch. Cool decor, large parking lot. It was very cold in the dining room. Our waitress was friendly, not horribly attentive though. I ordered the M.O.A.D. and my husband ordered the Gizmo. There's A LOT of food here! The M.O.A.D. was too messy to eat as a sandwich. The marble rye didn't stand up to the many toppings on the sandwich. I had to use a fork and knife. Both sandwiches had too many toppings. The onion rings and fried green beans were overly salty. Beer is great, food, meh. We won't go out of our way to eat here again. Drink? You betcha!

The building is nice and big, very clean and the portions are large, however, my sandwich was overcooked and I experienced cross contamination from a dirty grill that caused 3 days of nausea, gas, bloating and intense abdominal pain

I was there celebrating my nephew's 20th birthday, and it was my first visit so far, just after Thanksgiving 2023. None of our group had been there before and I didn't know what to expect.Nothing on the menu stood out to me so I ordered a pizza thinking that it would be a safe bet.I have to say that I was underwhelmed.As a man that appreciates a favorable pizza sauce, I have to say I was completely disappointed by the lack there of...I'd give this place another chance some day, but I would have to be more specific to please use extra sauce!

We had The Howitzer starter, M-4 Sherman Tank and the Oktoberfest special (Schintzel & Spaetzel). The Schnitzel was huge and delicious. The Oktoberfest beer was great also. I thought the Tanks were loaded fries at first, but they're basically really good stacked Bratwurst dinners. I totally recommended this place to friends back in Tomah. Best German food I've had in a while. Being a Wisconsin Vet, it feels like home. We were Harvest Host customers. I'm so glad this place was on our route to the East Coast.

The atmosphere, staff, food and drinks absolutely hit a home run! Steel Tank rocks! Stop in for a bite and some beer - and some killer fish fry on Fridays!

The ambiance lacks warmth, the service was mediocre, my vodka cranberry didn't have much flavor, and the food nothing to write home about. We will not go back.

I went to Steel Tank last night for dinner. Since Thursday is the only night they have Chicken Pot Pie, I decided to have that. It was very good! The presentation was spot on. The crust was, I think, puff pastry, a pleasant surprise! I probably have enough leftover for two meals!
