The South Milwaukee Downtown Market -- every Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. during the summer -- is one of the best-kept secrets around when it comes to Milwaukee-area farmers' markets. They have more than 60 vendors most weeks -- and a wide variety of merchants. Of course, it starts with produce, but this feels more like an outdoor street market than a traditional farmers' market, with a bunch of baked goods, prepared foods, organics, and arts and crafts vendors. The South Milwaukee market also has weekly live music on a new stage and other special events, as well as a nice picnic table seating area where you can enjoy a fresh-made dinner. Check it out!

Plenty of produce to choose from and so much more. Several bakery stands. Had an excellent pumpkin cheesecake muffin from Wildflour bakery. There is Mexican food, Chinese food, and brats and hotdogs. There was a food truck selling soup and sandwiches. A spice stand selling awesome spices and teas. She also had a nice selection of scarves later in the summer. Another favorite is the kettle corn. Try the maple flavor! I also got some all natural skin lotions from the goat milk lady and some body butter from the honey vendor. I am going back for more to last me through the winter. Many more, too many to mention. It is fun to try different things each week.
