Great bar/pub it the "middle of nowhere". Stopped by after an evening in Amherst for the fish fry. Friendly staff, clean, good vibe. The soups are excellent. Our fish fry could have stayed in the fryer a minute or two longer, but was very light and crispy. The potato pancakes reminded me of the kind I had when I was a kid. We'll be going back to try the other pub food soon!

After a few beers at Central Waters yesterday, we headed over to Smokey's for the Friday Fish Fry. We both had the fish and shrimp combo. It came with a choice of potato which included fries, garlic parmesan potatoes, baked potato etc. Also AYCE soup, the seafood chowder was the best I've had in WI, a slice of bread, cole slaw and baked beans. Everything was delicious but the shrimp were exceptional, perfectly cooked and plump. The prices are very reasonable for the food quality and service. The only suggestion I would make would be to offer a better quality beer on tap, maybe something from Central Waters?

We ordered a dozen chicken wings and a side of fries and were not disappointed! The chicken and baby drumsticks were hot, juicy and BIG! The home fries were perfect too! We'll most certainly be back for another take out order! Thanks guys!

Best soup for miles. I used to think the chicken dumpling was the best. Now I think it's the veggie beef. The Smokey Spur feels like its tucked in the middle of nowhere, but it also has a Cheers "everyone knows your name" vibe too.

Drive up, bike over, you can even hitch your horse outside at the Downtown Smokey Spur -- seriously - there's a hitching post. However you get there, make sure you bring a hefty appetite with you. The food is all good and there's plenty of it. You'll probably want to start off with the all-you-can-eat soups (generally 2 choices are available). I've never had a soup there that wasn't hot, hearty, and delicious. There's very little broth in the chicken and beef varieties. Instead you'll find chunks of meat, large cut vegetables, noodles (and dumplings) and savory smell that will make you the envy of your friends who didn't opt for the soup. The broasted chicken dinner is always a favorite and it's frequently the Sunday special. Three huge pieces of chicken, homemade chips, cold beverages - you can hardly ask for more. The staff are all fun and flirty. The owner is warm and personable. If you forgot your appetite, there's plenty to drink, with a full bar with lots of local brewery selections. The jukebox is always rocking, but never too loud for good conversation. It's a bit off the beaten path, but well worth seeking out.

When we got to the restaurant we were told it would be a 20 minute wait, 50 minutes later, when we were finally able to flag down our waitress we were told it would be soon. After getting us our first cocktail the waitress never came back to check on us. I would have understood this if they were busy but there were several open tables. The meal itself was ok but after the extremely poor service we won't be back.

My wife wanted to try some place different and found the Smokey Spur ad for all you can eat pizza buffet for $9.00. We arrived and were greeted with "Welcome to the pizza party". The service was great. We were seated immediately and brought our drinks. They had some kind of pasta in a broaster that looked to gross to even try. The soup was mostly broth, but very hot. The pizza was the worst pizza I have ever had in my life, and I have eaten a lot of pizza. The pizza was made on a frozen crust with way to much sauce and cheese. It actually looked like a six year old made it. The cheese fry was bland and flavorless. There was a guy walking around wearing pajama bottoms with shorts over the pajama's. He was also wearing a suit coat with a flower in the lapel. I can only assume he was the owner, as an owner would not hire anyone who would act so foolish. He was also singing with the stereo/jukebox. I think he was drunk or stoned, quite possibly both. I give the place two stars for the service and cold beer. Do not waste your time or money on the pizza. I would have preferred Domino's
