I've gone multiple times this week during "open" hours. No one is there, door is locked, no one answers the phone . Must be going out of business

They have just about anything you need. Prices are comparable to Pick n Save (slightly more expensive, but not horrible.)Service is always great.

I am not in reasonable walking distance to Smith Beer & Liquor.... so why the F did I come here? Two words Moscow Mule. Ever since discovering the Hi Hat uses Gosling's ginger beer in their Mule's, I have been on a mission to find it. After failing myself (Trader Joe's & Bean's and Barley has a crappy brand called Reed's and Otto's has Cock n Bull which is good, but pricey and not very convenient) I sucked it up and asked the bartender if he knew where I could get it. Well you guessed it Smith carries it.While hitting up my latest 6-pack there I was lucky enough to be summoned by a drunk Brady street dweller to translate his conversation with the cashier. Long story short he wanted to trade 2 heaters for 1 can of beer. I was able to translate his request and the denial of the clerk. Sketchy, but they got what I want.

As Jon said, it's a hole in the wall sort of place. When you walk in, there's two doors and you think "shit, which one do I go in?"(I took the door on the right, I don't know what's behind door #2)The selection is huuuuge, I've never seen so much wine in my life. The prices were incredible, and the cashier was SO helpful. She knew that I was cheap (I am and proud of it) and recommended a cheaper option than the one I picked on my own. I mean, anyone helping me save money is ace in my book. She was very polite and friendly and I will be back.Don't let the exterior scare you away because the inside will make up for it.

This strange door will take you up a flight of stairs and through another door to a fine selection of beer, wine, and liquor. Almost all of the liquor is placed behind the counter and out of the customer's reach, but considering the clientele that occasionally come in here, I understand that precaution! The wine and beer selection is pretty good for a store its size, offering quite a few craft beers and some interesting wine selections that I have not seen elsewhere all at a good price. One of the women who works here is great and friendly, always willing to suggest a new good beer in stock or just have small talk as the cash/card exchange is completed. Cash does seem to be the preferred method of payment here though...Oh, did I mention that it is open during Brady St. Festival? Good times!

When I first discovered Smith Beer & Liquor, I used to refer to it as "the sketchy beer store in a house next to the check cashing place on Brady." Well, that pretty much describes this sketchy-ass place... you think that you run the risk of catching some disease by walking through the door. However, once you actually enter and explore their selections, you realize that the owners actually care about keeping their customers happy by providing a wide selection. And I hate to admit it, but I have a little bit of a beer-crush on Smith's.I've never bought wine from Smith's (I go to Waterford down the street) but I go there weekly for beer. Of course, they have the staples... Miller Lite, High Life, and Beast... it is Milwaukee after all. But, the most surprising part is that they also carry a surprisingly good selection of American craft brews and some Imports. Since this is the only beer store on Brady really, they also do a brisk enough business to keep the beer fresh. While this may make me sound like a drunkard (which I am), but I've actually "gotten to know" the owners. Once you develop that consistency, they even special order you brews... mmmm... I love Kronenbourg 1664. If you purchase any 1664 at Smith's... let me just say, "you're welcome."Overall... I love Smith's. It's great beer, a surprisingly wide selection, and at very fair prices.

I can't NOT give Smith's five stars: it's so close to my place, the woman behind the counter is super nice and low-key, and they always have what I want. But I didn't realize this place HAD a name until I asked the woman when I went to check in!There's not much else to say. They have a great selection of booze, beer, and wine. I always see the same woman working there whenever I go in, and she's consistently both very friendly and also very helpful if I have any questions about anything.

It's a friendly little store inside. They have a big selection and a lot of different liquors (most kept behind the counter). It gets an "eclectic" crowd outside sometimes

In some smaller liquor stores I feel like the owners are watching me as I shop. Not the case here. They've got a decent chilled beer selection and it's right across the street. How can you not dig that? It's my new staple.
