Our washing machine broke so we were nextdoor. The people I was with were raving about Scotty's, saying they had been going there since they were kids. we ordered dogs, tacos, and a burger. everything was so good!! I ordered my hotdog without peppers but with everything else, and the gentleman at the counter looked at me and asked "sauerkraut?" with a questioning eye (LOL) I answered yes and let me tell you. It is the best hotdog you will ever have. Reasonable pricing and super yummy food.

I have always had good luck here for the last 5 years, but today they charged me $14.57 for a Pepsi and a beef sandwich. Nothing special. Forgot the cheese. The people in front of me got 3 meals for $31 and my small lunch was half of that... Their menu Has the meal advertised for $10.95 on the wall, which includes a drink with fries, and I paid $14.57 for a beef and a Pepsi and my order was wrong, and didn't get fries???Will probably go back to big jacks from now on.

I prefer the actual hotdog Scotty's uses over Sammies; it's natural casing which has a texture that is more enjoyable. And I've been going there since high school. Every time I come back to visit from CA which is about twice a year. I would go 3 or 4 times in a week. But NO LONGER! The owners decision to ONLY serve the dog with fries and then charge almost a $1 more is ridiculous. I don't want fries but I have to pay for them anyway? So from now on Sammies is getting all of my business. Customers deserve a simple choice to not pay for fries they don't want.

Great wieners! If you order "with everything" be advised it comes with kraut, which I personally don't mind. Awesome service, genuine smiles and they honestly make the food with love. Even a simple thing as a hotdog, they make it with love an create a decadent and succulent edible masterpiece. I'm giving you guys 4 stars because I'm not sure what your cheese sauce for nachos or cheese fries is made from. It was horrible, perhaps a bad batch or something. I couldn't eat it. And trust me I have a food addiction, I'm fat and I love crappy food at times, it is hard for me to not finish food or let alone to toss it. This I just couldn't. Please check your sauce, I doubt you serve this consistently. Besides that, keep up the amazing work guys!!!

I'm the only customer in there. It takes five minutes to get my hot dog, fries, and drink special. The hot dog, which is buried in the french fries, is barely warm, as are the fries. And the hot dog was no big deal. I could have made a similar one at home very easy.Huge, huge fail.PS--It seems like most of the five star reviews for Scotty's are from people who have posted very few reviews. Just sayin' a fact.

Scotty's Hot Dogs, in Round Lake, Illinois. We give honest reviews! If the food is good we'll say so! If it's not, we're here to save you some money and grief! THIS food? however, was ABSOLUTELY 'THE' WORST EVER! The burgers were old and cold, the bun was awful, the fries were in pieces, cold, few and far between, burnt, soggy, and looked like what was left in the bottom of the fry basket, truly a miserable mess. All the ice, in the lousy soda, was melted, we didn't want it anyway, but had to order it. We left a $7.00 tip, (more than what they suggested), for the delivery person for this un-eatable two, 1/4 pound cheeseburgers, one with fries, one with onion rings, the onion rings were cold too, and two unwanted Pepsi colas mistake, was $42.00, with the tip? The kid who answered the phone when I called earlier, assured me it would all get here hot! The delivery person left the bag on the front porch sometime between 4:30 pm and 4:45 pm, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, they did not knock, or ring the bell, this place is 17 minutes from our location according to Map Quest. NEVER AGAIN! EVER!

I've been going here for over 30 years (fond memories of 'ditching' high school lunch with friends sitting on the wooden picnic tables out back) and the food is the same today as it was then...classic Chicago hot dog stand. Fresh cut homemade fries (never frozen or sitting under a heat lamp) rolled up in wax paper with a loaded up dog with a natural casing in a greasy paper bag, that is my childhood. Their gyros are also excellent as are their cherry Pepsi's. They have a huge variety of other food here as well, but dogs, fries, and gyros are the go to's for me (plus I prefer Portillo's beef - hot - dipped over Scotty's). And prices are a steal for this much comfort food.My wife and I moved to MI in '05 and I'm telling you, Detroit doesn't understand hot dog stands. When we come back to visit family we always make a pilgrimage to Scotty's for lunch at least once.
