This is the store

As far as small-town grocery stores go, this Sentry is a couple of decades behind the times. Over the four years that I have worked in Prairie du Sac, I have repeatedly sworn off this Sentry in favor of the nicer and newer Piggly Wiggly in Sauk City. The store manager is surprisingly rude, though I will give the employees credit for having a nice demeanor most of the time. Unfortunately for them, their store is dingy and dated. The layout is in the typical 70's era fashion. I never did any significant grocery shopping at this store, but when I did need to pick up certain items it was always hit-or-miss, since the selection was never all that good. The produce area was not terrible, though I don't recall ever seeing organic.I used to frequent the deli for lunch quite often since it was a quick walk, but the food was generally mediocre and occasionally terrible. Most of the food was either fried or broiled. There were a few instances where I was impressed, but these were unfortunately few and far between. I recall there would be sandwich specials from time to time, including turkey with sun-dried tomato and provelone. These were quite good, but it was only a rare occurrence and most days you would have to settle for the same-old. I sometimes would try the pre-made cold sandwiches and salads, but these were never good. I now make it a point to either bring in my lunch or drive to Sauk City rather than go back to the bad old days at the Sentry.

You have got to be kidding me....The prices are INSANE. Seriously 1 zucchini was 2.99$.....I don't know how this place stays in business. Flys everywhere in the produce department, sticky floors, dirty doors in the cold section and OVER priced.

Small grocery store w/a VERY friendly and helpful staff. If you want lowest price, shop @ Sams Club. Otherwise, support small businesses as there are very few left.

Went there this evening and they are remodeling the place so bringing it up to date. The new owners are definitely trying to improve it. There is a much better selection now and I've found food that Wal-Mart use to carry. After all we all know how Wal-Mart will carry something for so long and then get rid of it after you fall in love with it. This is turning into a gem. The owners are really working hard and its showing and prices are really improving a carry full off groceries for$200 can't go wrong! :)

GETT-TOE and way overpriced. Had we known there was a Piggly Wiggle close by we would have never stepped foot in the place. We spent more for 2 days than we spend at Aldi in 2 weeks!

The above review displays what I would consider a predilection for dislike of any small town atmosphere. I have lived in Prairie Du Sac for a number of years, after moving from Chicago, and then Tempe, AZ. I commute to madison for work, and I frequently am checking the watch so that I can make it to sentry before they close, as I would much rather go there than the stores in madison. The prices at Sentry are comparable, if not better ( they usually are) , the selection is more than adequate, contrary to the above poster's opinion, and the staff are among some of the nicest service people I have ever met. It's true that the store is a bit 70's style and not exactly decorated with a mind towards attracting the eye, but neither is Woodmans or Sam's Club, and I can't help but notice people flooding their lots. The products that you can't find can be ordered quite easily, something I dare anyone to try in a big mega mart atmosphere. Walk into a corporate store and ask for them to order you 2 containers of Blue Marble heavy cream, 1 package of butter, and 1 container of Mint Chocolate chip Ice cream, and listen to them laugh at you. Do the same at Sentry, and it will be on the next truck. The store is great, the people are great, and as for the above poster, if he is going to grocery stores because of how they look, not what they have in them, then he should really find some more satisfying aspects of his life to fill his void.As for the deli, he has obviously never tried their fried chicken, or baked fish. The Deli is incredible. Ask around the town, and also watch the parking lot after work. People are flooding that deli for their food, because it's top notch. A+ Sentry! I luv ya!

As of the of fall of 2015 Charlie sold the store to Bill and Dave. they are working hard at updating it making many changes. updates include refrigerated food cases, new flooring, lighting, an expanded beer cooler, deli, dairy section and produce department. they have competitive prices with not only Piggly Wiggly in Sauk but Wal-mart and others. if you had a bad experience before 2016 come in and try again,

Shopped there a few times while vacationing in the area. Good and decent, considering there are no alternatives nearby, even if somewhat depressed. Nicer then Piggly Wiggly in Lodi.

I have tried and tried to give Sentry my business, but their blatant lack of respect to their customers' complaints just irks me. I have called several times to report expired items that I've purchased. They are kind enough on the phone, but I don't think the problem lies with the overall employees. It's higher up in the chain. The response I get is usually, "I'm so sorry about that. Feel free to bring the item back for replacement or refund." However, on more than one occasion, the manager with whom I speak adds, "I know. I keep telling them that this isn't okay, but the people that stock the shelves just don't care anymore." I've also gone into the store and pulled items off of the shelves myself and taken them to the front desk. Customers should not have to clear the expired items off of the shelves. What bothers me most is that there are plenty of elderly clients shopping at this store. Do you think Grandma and Grandpa Doe are checking all of their items expiration dates before buying items? All in all: Sentry, get your act together.
