Service was pretty quick. One lady taking orders. It was clear though that once they get busy mistakes are made. Like fresh minced garlic instead of grilled. Ambiance was quiet, maybe a little music or something next time. Seems pretty popular. The food was pretty good.Chili dog is small. 3 stars.Jumbo polish dog was good. 4 stars.Chicken strips for kids. 4 stars.Fries 4 stars.

Really delicious food. The burgers are great. The Italian beef are awesome and moist and delicious. The fries are good. I was a little upset with the mozzarella sticks, but that's OK. Otherwise their food is fantastic and the workers are very nice and kind polite people clean restaurant delicious food.

I've driven by almost daily since moving here a few weeks ago and since my son flew in last night for a visit I decided it was time to check out a local dive. I'm glad we did. The staff was really nice and seemed happy to be there. The restaurant is really divey but cool. I had the extra meat gyro sandwich and they aren't kidding about extra meat! There was a lot to the point I shared with my son. It was pretty tasty too. He had a Chicago style hot dog made with Vienna beef dogs. He really enjoyed it. To me the Kelly green pickle relish is off putting. It's just not a natural color for pickles but to each his own. He really enjoyed it and I have got to learn why the delicious sport peppers here are not available in California. I'd never even heard of them before getting hot dogs and sausages in the Chicago area. Anyway, I digress. If you want a good dog or gyro and are in the Round Lake Beach area, check out Sammie's. I will be back because they have a big menu I want to explore!

Sammies has ways been good....at least the one in Grayslake has been. 1st time to the RL location in years. Service was good but the food was not good. Beef was rubbery, whitish and tasteless. Luckily there was not much in it. The bread was doughy, thin and tasteless. The sandwich was small and expensive for what I got. Ordered a large order of mushrooms. The bag was maybe 1/3 full. Taste was ok. Don't think I'll come back to this location. I'll give the Grayslake location my business unless the changes are systemic.

I love vienna beef hotdogs. I go to Sammies whenever I visit from CA. But I wish they would use hotdogs with natural casing. The texture is more enjoyable! I've done a lot of restaurant/food research in my career as a restauranteur and foodie and have learned that atleast 75% of the time a person dislikes food or prefers a different variety of a food it's because of the texture. Change your casing Sammies and it will improve your business!And the beef in the Italian is subpar.

Good gyros and crispy fries. A little disappointed this recent visit. Small fry consisted of literally a few fries and gyros had about half a teaspoon of tzatziki.

The Italian beef, burgers, chicken sandwiches and hot dogs are great, but I crave the fries most! They're crispier than most, fresh and never soggy! Next visit we're going to try the gyros. And then there's the absolutely delightful staff. They clearly like each other and the customers and it puts a smile on your face. The tables are clean and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend.

I can't frequent Sammie's as often as I would like, but every time I do, not disappointed! Gyros and their homemade tzatziki sauce, amazing, And my son is hard to please. My daughter had her usual chicken fajita pita and I had my angus burger, my daughter and I are pretty specific in our toppings so I figured something would be wrong with our order. Have to say, everything was good! So happy we make the trip to come here. (Btw; my son ordered a cheeseburger, made his a double, after he tried mine, after his gyros, teenage boys and appetites)! One more thing. I'm not big on fries but I ALWAYS, split an order with my kids while eating here.
