I took out a quick lunch from here on a weekday. There wasn't a crowd. I took the special combo sandwich. It was nice and flavorful with fresh veggies. There was a full size and half size option. I went for the full size option.

(Last visited on 5/26/2021.) My coworker spotted this food truck/cart one afternoon and said he wanted to try it. So we did and it was so satisfying that we went back again the next day! Here's why!Atmosphere/Appearance: Seeing as this is a food truck, there isn't much to it. It's a cart that gets pulled by a truck or car of some sort, but then parked on the sidewalk on the corner of North Charter and West Johnson Street. I don't know if it visits anywhere else, but the whole week I was there the cart consistently arrived at 10:00am and left around 4:30pm.Service: The guy inside is very friendly, soft-spoken and very sweet. He makes you feel welcomed and very safe.Food: So this place specializes in Vietnamese sandwiches. That's pretty much all they do. There are 6 sandwiches you can choose from where the ingredients are chosen for you, but you can of course customize your own. Both times I went I went with chicken as a meat, then added sweet pickled carrots w/diakon radishes, spicy jalapenos, fresh cilantro and dehydrated onions. The sandwich was so different from the "usual" sandwiches I eat. It was sweet, savory, fresh and just delicious. The bread was crunchy on the outside, but soft on the inside. It had a great balance.Value: $6.50 for a sandwich. You can't beat it.If you're in the downtown Madison, WI area, check this guy out! Support the local business and you won't regret it!Be sure to check out my YouTube channel, "The Hungry Road" for more restaurant and car-related content! You need to get to this food truck if you are on campus. The banh mi was easy to choose from because you can order online before you come pick up the banh mi on the way to your next class. While the cart is on a corner of the road without any seatings, people would wait 20 minutes, like I did, just for the banh mi. This wait time is not because of slow service, on the contrary in fact. The cook is super fast with his orders yet all the banh mi came out with great quality. The wait is well worth it because they have the best banh mi in Madison. They are only available a couple hours weekday so get there when you can to get a topnotch meal.

There is a reason why there is always a crowd outside this little food truck -- it is simply amazing. I always refer to it as "the Banh Mi" truck, mostly because I always get the meatball banh mi sandwich every time. They are great toppings and you can choose what you want or don't want. They are vegetarian friendly and also have drinks for your lunch! The sandwiches are a great price and I truly cannot believe how good they are for a food truck -- it's better than most restaurants in Madison. The truck is usually parked at Observatory and Johnson when classes are in session. Go to the truck and take a little piece of paper to fill out your order! They accept cash and cards. Deliciouuuuus!

Small food truck with amazing flavor. We had a sandwich and a garlic chicken plate and both were really good. The sandwich is enough for 2 people. Definitely a repeat!

Delicious fresh sandwiches from an extremely kind and accommodating operator! I arrived earlier than I indicated when placing my online order and he still had my sandwich ready as soon as he knew I was there!

Eating on campus is you know... don't get me wrong, that's any campus, institutional food is just soul-crushing on most days. So to have something like this around, a stone's throw from most buildings on the UW, fresh, consistent, flavorful, and balancing between crunchy, spicy, satisfying and wholesome, and always quick, is just bliss. The menu is very limited but there is a vegetarian option and thus might just be the best Bahn Mi-like sandwich in this our town of Madison. Perfectly complemented with a packet of simple Lays I hope this place doesn't go away any time soon and that this review doesn't make it crowded and spoil my fun. He does accept EatStreet orders so you could pre-order rush in from class or work. My favorite is the Vietnamese Meatball but you mostly can't go wrong with any of them.

Tremendously fast and cheap! Owner is very nice as I asked a couple of questions as I've never had a bahn mi before. My sandwich was warm, fresh as it can get, and most important of all, super good. Def recommend if you're in the area and need a lil somethin to get you through your day. 10/10 would come again!

Friendly! Delicious! Preordering online seems to be the preferred method, but as spontaneous first timers, in-person worked fine. We hung around with the many students who obviously make this a routine stop on their way to class. Loved our Bahn Mi sandwiches ($8.50) and Vietnamese Ice Coffee ($5). We will be making this food truck part of our routine.
