A quiet fine dining experience tucked in the Bay View neighborhood. Our visit to Sage to celebrate an anniversary dinner was delightful. It's located in the historic White House. And the restaurant embraces that history and weaves it into the dining experience with the decor, heirlooms and anecdotes. The menu changes seasonally. Both seasons that I have seen were small but well-balanced with something to please most palates. We enjoyed the stuffed dates, the carrot curry soup, the salmon and the beef tenderloin. All of them were amazing. Seasoning was subtle to let the flavors of the ingredients shine through. And the cooking and execution was fantastic. Their cocktails are complex and delicious. And the creme brulee dessert was one of the best I've had in the city. The service was good, but this isn't a place you come for a quick bite and run. It's a place to converse, to sip, and enjoy some decadent bites.

First, let me say, the staff was doing the best they could. But it was not enough to make up for the 30minute wait (with a reservation made a month in advance) or the lackluster food. I had the baked French onion soup that tasted like it had a Kraft single melted on top and croutons hard enough to crack a tooth underneath. I had to send my pork schnitzel back because it was so overcooked I couldn't cut it with a knife. The second attempt was better, but the only flavor was fried oil. The cabbage and mash were also under seasoned (and the table did not have salt or pepper available). My partner's salmon was good, but his carrots were raw. We skipped dessert.

Overall had a good experience at Sage. Was here for a team dinner so I will preface by saying I didn't have the option of exploring the entire menu. We started with charcuterie, which was great. The bread was solid but definitely not enough provided for the table. Small portions seemed to common though. The beet and goat cheese salad was very good. For dinner I ordered the schnitzel as it was highly recommended, it was a solid dish but I don't know that I'd go out of my way for it, but tasty nonetheless. The dessert was really the biggest miss for me, the apple strudels was kind of dry and not really my cup of tea. Service was amazing, as were the drinks! Highly recommend the drinks.

I was excited to try this place out, but unfortunately it was a huge let down. Ambiance and a friendly staff is about the only thing it has going for it. Ordered a filet mignon and a fettuccine Alfredo. We waited about 30 minutes or more for the food, and when it finally arrived, it was not worth the wait. The steak was about a 4 ounce cut, and was slapped on some mashed potatoes with some mushrooms on top, served with a non serrated butter knife. The steak tasted like the most plain piece of meat I've ever had, I had to salt the heck out of it for it to be at all enjoyable. The potatoes were also lackluster. Fettuccine was decent, but was a vegan dish with no ability to add a protein. Drinks were fine, but nothing above average. The most appalling thing about the experience was receiving the check, which included a 25% "large party" gratuity, even though it was only my wife and I. I brought this to the attention of the server, and she said it's because it's a holiday (was Valentine's Day) and because they have more staff on hand... I'm okay with charging a gratuity, but PLEASE make your patrons aware of this beforehand, otherwise you make yourself seem desperate and dishonest. Will never be back here again.

I enjoyed my time at Sage. It's a really cute space with tasty cocktails, mocktails, and a solid food menu. Our friends were seated first and were in full sun for about an hour and a half, which wasn't ideal, but they also didn't want to complain. Maybe some shades could be installed? Our server was great and service all around was attentive and prompt. My highlights were the rosemary mocktail and the pistachio blondie.

Not sure why this only got a 4.1 rating. It was amazing food and drinks. The service was on point , the drinks were exceptional, and the entire evening was a wonderful experience. I wish I took photos, but we were too busy enjoying the dinner, drinks, and overall night. When you go, you have to have Michelle and Allie wait on you- superb! Go there! Also easy to reserve with the Open Table App

Loved visiting Sage for the first time! It's great location to have some fun cocktails and graze on a variety of dishes. Service was spot on, our waiter / bartender was prompt and he checked in on us with a decent cadence. Not too pushy but not neglectful. Lots of beautiful natural light coming in, fresh plants and greenery. A beautiful space overall. Highly recommend!
