Some of the best brats you will ever get. My parents live an hour away from New Glarus and even though the brewery was closed we still took the drive just to go to Ruef's and pick up some brats. Tons of really unique flavors like philly cheese steak, pizza, etc. We seriously ended up buying about 56 brats for us and for some friends back home. New Glarus isnt a big town so if you go to the brewery you must stop here with a cooler to pick up some meat for later.

Ruef's is an old-timey small town butcher shop. Most of what they sell is homemade sausage vs. chops/steaks. If you're looking for brats, this place definitely has you covered with two dozen varieties including taco, bacon bleu cheese, super spicy, onion beer and a whole bunch more.Outside of brats, most of the sausages are German/Swiss varieties like Mettwurst or Thuringer. We left with a few different types to try as well as some spicy landjaegers. Pretty much every restaurant in town serves their stuff so you can try it before you buy. If you like it, they'll happily ship most items to you.

CLOSES EARLY ON SUNDAY'S!!!!!! Make note of this if you go on a Sunday. I made sure I got there before closing this time, since the previous time I was in New Glarus they had closed. After having their "Portable Wisconsin" brat for dinner last night, I will be making sure I stop by for more next time I'm in town. They are damn tasty. So yeah, several varieties of house made brats, sausage, and landjaeger for sale along with a few other local made cheeses. All the brats are available frozen, so bring a cooler along for your road trip back home.

Went here after tasting some beers at the brewery. The smell hits you immediately upon entering, which is a good thing because it really is a great scent. To me, it meant that this was the place to be if you want carefully crafted and traditional style food, which turned out to be the case. The jalapeño brats were absolutely perfect - very cheesy with a perfect kick. Very high quality. Staff was friendly. Will be going back to try some of their other goodies.

Smoked meats (hickory, no liquid smoke here) made on site. We picked up some salami and cheese for a day trip but will be back for their brats, especially after eating one of their foot-longs at the Sportsman Bar next door. Wow! Veal sausages and he even had whole smoked chickens! It don't get more real. Great stuff.Check out the website, he'll ship the stuff right to you.

I love stopping here any time we are in the area - I was introduced to the infamous Landjaeger by my boyfriend and haven't looked back since (the spicy ones are amazing!) The brats here are excellent as well, a variety of flavors to keep things interesting.

I order the Landjaeger as a special Christmas gift for my husband who is Swiss. He always says they are the best Landjaeger he has ever tasted outside of Switzerland. They are probably not to every ones liking as they tend to be hard but if you are Swiss in particular, you are going to absolutely love them. Well worth paying a little extra for the real thing.
