Route 41 Bar & Grill

Located on 27th street in Franklin, Route 41 was a perfect spot to enjoy a Friday Fish Fry! We walked in on a busy Friday (I do not believe they take reservations), to a newly renovated space that was bright & clean. The large bar was full, as was most of the dining area. We checked in with the hostess & were surprised that she was able to get us a table right away! Our server, although lackluster, was efficient & our drink & food orders were correct. I opted for 2 piece Cajun style cod-what a nice change of pace! The breading had great flavor, very crispy. The baked potato was standard but who's isn't. My bf chose the traditional 3 piece cod & enjoyed his meal as well. We plan to come back soon to try other things & attend a trivia night!

It has been many things over the years; The Country Castle, Jim Dandy's and now this incarnation. All venues had good vittles. I am not much of a bar-hopper anymore but always looking for a good fish fry. The fish fry was perfect in all aspects. Everything done just right. Perch, Walleye, Cod were all good and done just right. Probly not lake perch but still good. The baked potato was not hanging around and worn out and the potato pancakes, while not home made, were good flavor and consistency. It's a small juke-joint but the bar is open while waiting.

Great service and good! The pretzels are probably the best I have ever had, light airy and crisp! The beer cheese was phenomenal. The chicken bourbon rolls were quite tasty with the side sauce. The bang bang shrimp was good and would order all these items over and over again!

So I decided to give this place another shot, came for fish fry and did enjoy it, the place was packed and low and behold the male bartender was there yet again, very short with me and looking like he was angry to be working. I ordered my drink and he took my money and stuck it into the tip jar. I thought to myself "oh maybe this is the owner, doesn't need to ring it in because he owns the place"No. The person to my right answered that question for me. She has been a regular and I guess his name is Joe and he is a manager here, not the owner (relief) HOWEVER...OWNER BE AWARE!!! , your manager takes money and just pockets it. I watched him do this a few times throughout my dinner, didn't ring in just made change from pocket or the jar. We opted to get the nice small blond bartender to serve us, and she gave great service, But sadly I have to mark this place down due to this manager they have here. I hope the owner checks cameras because he definitely is stealing. But on a positive note, my Cajun cod was delicious, potato pancakes out of this worldAnd that rye bread was fantastic. Added a star for the meal and the end of our service being better.

Remodeled and reopened for business earlier this summer, Route 41 has quickly become one of our Go-To Spots for our Friday dinner & drinks night out! The drinks are reasonably priced & cold & the bartenders (and other staff) are friendly! My husband rarely eats Fish Fries, but he almost always orders one here. I'm a BIG FAN of the Italian bomber sandwich (that is actually a patty, not meatballs like most places). The newly added salads are huge and freshly made! The pizzas are also a favorite of ours! Sports are almost always on the multiple TVs, with Packers game specials, along with live music and other fun events pretty regularly!! My parents, who rarely go out to eat & don't drink, have become regulars for pizza and fish fries too! For the women reading, the best part is that while the bathroom is small, it is CLEAN and always fully stocked!!

Very attentive and pleasant waiter. Great food. I had the Lisa steak sandwich, melted in my mouth. Husband had the 41 burger, very tasty and filling. I liked that you can get a side salad instead of fries without an extra charge. Will definitely be going here again.

In WI I think there is an assumption that when the menu says Perch that we are talking about Lake Perch. This is not Lake Perch!!! It tastes fishy, it's dry and chewy with bones and scales. We were very disappointed with the fish fry!! The to go box got deposited in the trash. Everything else on the plate, fries were hot and crispy, with good slaw, good but not home made, and good rye bread. Our waitress was friendly and provided good service. The place is clean, the bar is busy. On the way out the pizza at another table looked and smelled very good. May return to try the pizza but, not going back for a fish fry.

Went on a Saturday at 5:pm. Bar was packed. There wasn't anyone to say seat yourself or wait to be seated. Very under staffed. Waited a long time for drinks and food. My husband ordered the Italian bomber with no onions or mushrooms. I ordered the tenderloin sandwich medium rare. 30 minutes later, out came the tenderloin sandwich med well, and the Italian bomber smothered in mushrooms and onions served ln chipped plates. Our server was nowhere to be found. We will not be back.

90 minutes after we sat down and still no entree...decided to call it quits and said thanks but no thanks. Paid our bill and will not be returning. The service was rude and extremely slow. I would not recommend this restaurant/bar.

I REALLY wanted to give this place 5 stars. It was very clean, lots of space, great patio in back. Our bartender/server was fantastic---- friendly, helpful, and attentive. Many drink choices, always a plus! Basic bar food, but quick and tasty. Could easily have become a GoTo spot....But ..... We --- 6 middle-aged not-very-girly women --- chose the lovely deserted patio. We were having a great time with our drinks, food and conversation in the shade, away from other people and enjoying each other's company. However, several male patrons made a point of coming to the patio to (we believe) try to scare us into leaving. One man came out of the bar several times to stand and stare at us for several long minutes before returning inside. What was THAT?I don't fault the bar management, as i don't think they were aware. but hard for us to consider for a return visit if other patrons are hellbent on making us feel unwelcome.
