River Club of Mequon

Went to a wedding at the River Club and the food and drinks were amazing. I especially loved the bartenders. All were friendly and fun! It's such a gorgeous venue as well! A+

Where do I start? Oh maybe my wedding on new years at the River Club. The venue was incredible. The staff was spectacular. The wedding coordinator was out of this world. The bartenders were on their game. They did an OUTSTANDING job and we couldnt thank them more. Fast forward to mid summer and I have probably golfed their over 75 times. We became members right before our wedding and have absolutely loved it ever since. The staff is very nice and friendly and the members are also very chill. Its very easy to become friends with other members. Its the perfect club to join if youre not into the snobby rich people, these people are just rich and nice. You can't beat it. Young and old all are welcome.

It is a beautiful atmosphere and service was average. The food was nothing to rave about but it was alright. I might give it a second chance if other options are not available.

"I had the pleasure of playing back-to-back nines with a member friend over the summer. Found a clean well laid out course with lots of beautiful trees along the sides of the fairways. I was surprised though because it's not a super hard course, I was nervous that my game wasn't up to it. But like most any course, if you can hit it fairly straight & putt a little, you can do fairly well here. The clubhouse has quite the seen during weekends, lots of local members soaking up lavations. Saw a bunch of personalized golf carts, these members obviously live in houses surrounding the links.Great pro shop with an extensive selection. Prices weren't all that bad either. I don't play regularly enough to justify the $5700 membership. So, doubt I'll be back anytime soon.

This is a perfect wedding venue. Working with Larry and Steven was wonderful. Everyone attending told us how beautiful the club was. The best part is the careful planning they did. The day of the event went smoothly and dare I say perfectly.

While not the best communicating management in town Everything here fills a need from golf to food but that is what happens when ownership is not local.

I'm not sure you could ruin a wedding day more if you tried. One of the worst run facilities I have ever been to. Sarah, Rob and Cindy are the most worthless and incompetent people I have ever met. Would not recommend holding your wedding here. The staff was so bad on our wedding day that we ended up getting a refund. We had 3 different event coordinators in 9 months and none of them wrote down the details of our wedding day, so when the day came they missed on everything we discussed. They were short staffed for our wedding, so food wasn't served on time and everything was behind schedule. When complaining to the General manager, she put her hands on my father and I and told us to stop complaining or she would call the cops... even though she put her hands on us and venue was behind and couldn't get our cake served, bar restocked, coffee refilled and buffet refilled with food. That is just a few of the 29 issues we experienced on our wedding day. Needless to say they ruined our wedding day, never want to step back on the property of this course again.

So, I eat at the this club only once a year, so granted, my opinion is solely based on these rare instances. However, considering this is an "elite" country club, the food could be at a higher standard. The menu is in fact quite vast...from pizzas and burgers to steaks, seafood and pasta dishes. The dishes are plated very attractively. Portions are fine. But the flavors! I ordered the Honey Chili Prawns. Sounded very good on the menu! And yes, I understood that the word "honey" was there for reason. However, I was expecting something a little more subtle. This dish literally tasted as if the chef had heated up some French dressing ( the sweet, red stuff) and poured it onto the plate with some dried chili peppers added for a kick. The black rice was saturated in this liquid at the base of the plate and I simply could not finish it. It was sickening sweet. The prawns themselves were fine. No vegetables were served. I recall a kind of threadlike something ( angel hair fried onions?) on the top.. A lighter more subtle sauce with some abundant sauteed vegetables would have been more satisfying. Cost was, I think, $22. Other people at the table seemed overall happy with their dishes including fish, meatloaf and tacos. So, overall, meh.

We had a wonderful experience planning our wedding reception at River Club. From the time we booked until our wedding day, we were very well taken care of. We had a very nice tour of the facilities and met some of the staff on our first meeting, even the AV/sound tech staff! The ballroom is a beautiful space with access to an outdoor patio, and a really nice light and sound system. The staff was willing to hold our date as we took our time in deciding to book, we did not feel pressured to make a decision quickly. Our tasting experience was fantastic - we were served in a private room with the table arranged as it would be for the wedding guests, with a very professional server. We were able to try as many dishes as we wanted off the menu, and the head chef personally sat down with us after the tasting to discuss our preferences. The chef and his staff were willing to accommodate even our small requests for changes to the menu. The food tasted fantastic - it was a difficult decision to narrow down our menu! All the staff was very attentive to our needs and details, from lighting to seating arrangements, during the week before our wedding and service was very well paced on the night of the wedding. Finally, it was an absolute pleasure to work with the event director, Larry. He was extremely professional and accommodating as we were planning our wedding from out of town, very responsive to all our small questions and needs. Gave us confidence that everything would run smoothly on the big day. He's quick with a smile and a hug, and treats his brides like gold. :)
