Richmond Cafe

Oh wow, my first experience here was so good I made a special trip a few days later to try more items and be equally impressed again! The name and restaurant itself don't really jump out, as it in general looks like a fairly standard cafe that you'd find anywhere. However the food here is really the star and I'll go more into it shortly.Parking here can be a bit tricky when it's busy around the area, but there's a good amount of public parking fairly close by. Service is very friendly and prompt, even when busy. They are quite good at fulfilling orders at a good pace even when busy, which is quite impressive given the size and staffing levels. The decor is quite fun, very much a nod to the local area and unique flavor and vendors that are available. I like this as it helps me remember this restaurant as something that uniquely represents Richmond.The drinks I tried here were all done quite well. I found the coffee to be smooth and not too acidic. Hot chocolate was very flavorful and just rich enough, definitely tastes like it's from melted chocolate rather than from a powder. Mocha was smooth, not super strong and had a good extra layer of complexity from the colombian chocolate.The food was definitely the star here. The chocolate waffle was quite unique here as it had chocolate in the batter with chocolate chips and chocolate syrup on top. This was interestingly not overly sweet and quite delicious. The richmond stack was quite spongy with a nice flavor to the batter. I do like how fresh the whipped cream tasted and how the berries were also the perfect ripeness. The pancakes also soaked in the syrup quite well and had a firmness that made them fairly easy to cut. The french toast was another standout dish, with just a light bit of egg flavor and a food fluffiness. The quality of the berries and whipped cream once against shone here and created a balanced bite. The parfait was similarly prepared well and quite delicious. The meat lover's skillet here was packed with meat and the egg was nice and fluffy. It had a good distribution of meat inside and each bite was flavorful without being overly salty.Overall, this is worth a stop on my way up to Lake Geneva or Lake Delavan for a delicious meal. The prices are quite reasonable for quality and service is friendly and reasonably fast.

Well, I wanted to give it more stars but just can't because overall it's just a three. I've been here twice for breakfast. .Everything was ok the first time there was a small mistake or dislike of something but no big deal as I recall; so I thought I'd go back for breakfast 2. I got the Denver omelet with Swiss, ham, green peppers and onions and it came with hash browns included. No toast but that's fine with me. The omelet was a tad overcooked to my liking but had lots of ingredients with the emphasis on big pieces of green pepper and lots of onions. Ham was in there but kinda lost in the peppers and onions. and not too flavorful to start with. But ok. So the hash browns I know I'm picky about, and I know no one really does them the way I like them (except good steak houses, they know what they're doing.). But.... these I thought were going to be good. Kinda crispy all over, maybe even a bit too much. I tasted them first and right away. They had an odd flavor(old?reheated or the oil just not good?) and horror of horrors, cold and hard.Who serves cold hash browns? I usually ignore sides with servers if I don't like them may mention it on Yelp for those that want to know,but could not ignore hash browns I cannot eat. I told the waitress., and she commented "interesting", which I thought was "interesting". :D She offered to have them remade, and I told her the omelet was nice and hot. I ate it happily enough. So the second try on the has browns. they come out, and they are steaming hot, but noticeably barely cooked or maybe even not barely. I took the second plate home and got a to go so I could cook them at home. So all in all ok with the food, but that should not have been. First cold then not cooked. They other things I noticed both times is the chairs or the majority of them are tiny metal cheap, not so comfortable chairs and the sound really carries probably due to the high ceilings. Not a big deal but it doesn't invite you to linger, but that's maybe ok. The tables are not too far apart either so if it is busy you definitely get to hear what's going on all around you like it or not. See photos for hash brown attempts that definitely fail, but the rest was ok. I add service was good both times and the waitress today did take $1.30 off for the has brown send back. Helpful but still kinda disappointing.

Richmond Cafe was a great find. I've driven through Richmond on my way to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin many times. This cute cafe has very friendly staff and fantastic food. I ordered the chocolate waffle. There was chocolate in the batter and chocolate drizzle on top. It comes with fresh strawberries and blueberries. It was amazing. I also ordered the single source hot chocolate. It tasted like a melted chocolate bar. They also sell art made by local artists. I can't wait to come back and try more food and drinks. I can't recommend Richmond Cafe any higher!

Great coffee and food. They serve Hansa coffee and it is great. I also had breakfast here. I got a breakfast burrito. Since I am celiac I asked about gluten free and they accommodated me. What does that mean? It means I got the burrito without the flour wrap and without the hash browns and the sauce they add because they all had gluten. Instead, I got a parfait on the side and it was great. It is a cute place inside and has a lot of ambiance. The service is great too. So, when you pass through this town going to Geneva or wherever, it is not a bad stop at all. They must have had a wedding or something going on upstairs. It looked like the groom and groomsmen were all getting a coffee. LOL.

Located on the main street in Richmond this cafe offers an open air spacious atmosphere. Menu features a variety of coffees, breakfast, and lunch. The chocolate strawberry latte was served with a lovely presentation. Breakfast sandwich was good. I ordered the three cheese panini. The cheese was not melted and the sandwich was served cold. They do offer crayons and coloring books for children. Service was mediocre- staff talking at bar. The bathrooms could definitely use a deep clean.

Meh.. food always good but service this time was weird..We went yesterday around 1pm for a brunch, usually an overall good experience but our waiter just took our plates without asking if we were finished... my mother still had part of her waffle left.. This wasn't our usual waiter so I get that but management please work on waiter etiquette.. (ASK BEFORE YOU TAKE) We're not assholes so we let it slide but please advise, I don't want the waiter bashed for doing this to the wrong person. We didn't tip her directly but put something in the tip jar, hopefully the hint was taken.

Fantastic breakfast! Delish coffee in an adorable setting. Fabulous service as well. A must stop!

Food is good! Plenty on portions !But watch out for prices not on menu.Sides are more expensive than the menu states - waitress said "we are working on new menus with correct prices" but didn't find that out till we got the bill. !!!!The wait staff is the most pleasant of any other place we visit !!! Ambiance is older style ice cream shop converted to small friendly restaurant!

Today I went in for a latte, the server was nice enough but didn't bring napkins or spoons. The latte wasn't made very well either. Although, the cafe has a good vibe and clean, the service and coffee were disappointin.

Ham paining was excellent. Smoothie was terrible. For such a cute cafe you'd think they would use real fruit..coconut milk and have some good healthier options for Smoothies.
