This is a great spot for groups, we have the occasional family dinner here and I'm always satisfied! I had the 2 meat dinner with brisket and jalapeño cheddar sausage, with mac&cheese and coleslaw for my sides. I forgot to add a cornbread, because you really should just get 1 with your plate. Other places typically include one in a similar offering I've found. That aside, the food is tasty! Brisket was a bit dry and cut a bit too thick I'd say, but the spicy sauce covers all sins. This sauce is (insert swear of your choice here) good! Thinking about it as I type is making my mouth water... better move on. My sausage was great, good bite and not too spicy on its own. The mac&cheese is creamy and rich, the coleslaw puts out the fire from the sauce. Really a great plate of food, and at a good price point. We also shared some fried onions and cheese curds, solid sides to pass around and well executed. Staff are always friendly and helpful here, I've never had a bad experience. For BBQ this far north of Chicago, you can't do much better.

My last visit here was almost exactly 5 years ago. I's hard to believe but as the date stamp on my photos don't lie, it must be true, yikes. Well, this is also the last Chicagoland RUB standing, so continued good luck to this location.Anyway, we returned for their Valentine's Day weekend promo - two 2-meat combos with 2 sides and also a slice of Baker Square pies for $39.99. That's a pretty nice promo as we have always liked RUB's BBQ products. There is a $1 to $1.50 adder for premium meats and that's ok. The Bakers Square pie slices ala carte are worth $5 apiece anyway. For the meats, the wife chose ribs and brisket and I chose brisket and burnt ends. The brisket and burnt ends were particularly tender and tasty. For sides, we picked cole slaw, corn bread muffins, mac n cheese, and baked beans. For pie slices we picked French silk and apple. Overall, we were happy with the quality of this carryout dinner and the value with the promo. Belated Happy Valentine's Day to all the lovebirds out there!

Came in here for the first time to eat with the bf for lunch. It was not packed at all and there was a lot of seating available. The place had a nice little theme of like vintage farmhouse. They had cute decorations all over and the menu was vast. It honestly reminded me of like a school cafeteria with a retro vibe. My bf and I ended up ordering almost the exact thing: a brisket sandwich. My bf's two sides were: Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. My two sides were: Mac and cheese and creamy spinach. We got two fountain drinks and we were good to go. The customer service was nice and quick. Now onto the food, the brisket was nice juicy and tender but quite bland. I'm assuming it's supposed to be like that given the delicious picks of sauce at each table. For me personally, I throughly enjoyed the spicy sauce, it definitely had a nice kick which I appreciated. My bf enjoyed the sweet sauce which had a milder kick but was still enjoyable. The bread was nice and fluffy but I felt like there was too much bread for the small amount of meat so that was a little bit of a learning curve for me. I really liked how this experience was meant to be messy and that there were paper towels at every table and you could also get wet wipes too where the sodas were.Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. Would I come back for more? Maybe. The price point was a bit expensive for what you get but the food was yummy, regardless.

Well, this real urbanite is pretty surprised to find a great BBQ spot in the burbs! I wanted to try a variety of meats, so I ordered 3 different sliders: turkey, brisket, and burnt ends, all topped with the spicy bbq sauce. For my veggie, I ordered the sweet potato souffle. The turkey was very juicy and flavorful! The burnt ends were my favorite, and no surprise that they said it was their most popular meat. The brisket was okay; it was my least favorite of the three. The sweet potato souffle was not bad. The menu said it had pecans, but mine only came with marshmallows. It definitely needs the pecans for some crunch. The hush puppies were so delicious and absolutely a must try. If I'm ever in the area, I'd make sure to stop in again!

Living in Houston for some years, bbq for me is always measured to TX cue. For me RUB is the best for bbq in Chicago. I've had Smoke downtown, culinary kitchen in the burbs and City BBQ and RUB takes the cake in my opinion. RUB is the most consistent and overall has the best bbq between them. RUB also has the better sides as wellBurnt ends are the best around. The bark is not the deepest, but has pretty good smoke flavor and they are always quite moist. Rib tips, have a great pork flavor and were moist and tender. I typically am not a fan of smoked turkey as it is always dry, but theirs is always quite moist with a subtle smoky flavor. They also have great pickled pickles. The pickles have a great crunch to them and are sweet with a nice heat that linger in your mouth. I always ask for extra pickles. For their sides I'm a big fan of the sweet potato casserole. It has a nice smooth mouth feel with a little density to it. Sweet potato comes thru nice and the brown sugar adds depth to the sweetness. I also enjoy their corn bake. Has the texture of cornbread but a little more moist and mixed with corn kernels which gave it nice contrast in texture. Corn flavor was quite strong and it was slightly buttery. The Brussel sprouts and mashed potatoes were ok. Brussel sprouts could have used my roasting as they were not that charred and they needed some salt. Mashed potatoes had a great texture to them as the potatoes were smooth but not whipped and there were small chunks of potato which I love for texture. Flavor wise the gravy didn't have much depth to them. Their kids meals are a great value as they give a good size of chicken tenders or mac and cheese with hand cut fries and a side.

Used their catering service and was very happy! Lots of compliments on the food and great portions! The catering department was very helpful in helping me decide how much food to order. We ordered pulled pork sliders, a nacho bar and a salad! Everything was delicious!

I have been to Real Urban a few times. Most of the times it has been a carry out meal, but my most recent visit was a dine-in dinner meal. The restaurant was busy when we arrived. We took some time to decide what we wanted. Their menu has a nice variety to choose from, and the pricing is reasonable. The restaurant is set up in a counter service ordering style. You look at the menu on the wall, order at the far left side of the counter, and pay at the front cash register by the entrance, and that's where you get called to pick up your order. We ordered the SMOKEHOUSE COBB salad, which hasRomaine & iceberg, bacon, cheddar cheese, chopped egg, avocado, tomatoes, cucumber, & red onion; BBQ 2 MEATS Combo with brisket and 1/3 slab ribs and sides of baked beans and sweet potatoes souffle, and a kids ribs meal with fries and a drink. The food didn't take long to be prepared. The salad was ready first, and I got that with jalapeño ranch dressing. The salad was really delicious. I love a mix of greens with avocado, bacon, and eggs. The jalapeño ranch dressing added a nice flavorful spicy touch to the salad's taste. The ribs were saucy and tender. For a 1/3 slab, the ribs were of good portion size. The brisket was just so so to my liking. It was a bit on the dry side and lacked a good flavor. The sides were pretty good. My favorite was the sweet potato souffle. It was creamy and perfectly sweet. Their sauces were tasty. I forget what kind they offer besides the original, which is a sweet bbq sauce.Overall, I have had a good experience here the few times I have had their food. Check out this establishment if you haven't had their food before.

I really had high hopes for this place. I ordered the brisket and it was so dry and it definitely wasn't freshly made. The meat was hard and hard to chew. Also the sides weren't that good either. Small portions and ridiculously overpriced food. Service was good but food needs major improvement.
