The food was excellent! Our server, Mary, was very good. She didn't forget about us and was very friendly. It wasn't too crowded and there was not a wait time at all. The lights were very warm and not too bright. Pretty mellow crowd without all the loud noise. As some in our group did not grill their meat, the food that was grilled by the chef arrived in a very timely manner. We had a really good time.

Have not been here in ages since the Madison location closed. It was very similar with big steaks, fair prices and good people!

I checked out Prime Quarter in Janesville, WI for the first time and I don't recommend it. The steaks were not seasoned and the temperature was rare - not the ordered medium. They were not busy at all, about 5% of the tables were occupied but we had to wait 12 minutes to be seated even. The "Manager" was very rude and condescending... I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!! There are other options. The decor has a lot of old movie posters which is very odd for a steak house. Our original service was good until she left midway and we were left with the manager... who was a complete clown!!!

I'm from Florida. But come to prime quarter anytime I'm in town. Today I walked in the front door with my family at 5pm right when they opened. There were a handful of guests already inside at the bar. We finally got seated at a table at 5:24. I elected to cook my steak while my parents asked to have theirs cooked by a chef. Around 6:25 I was finished eating. At 6:35 their food came out to the table. The "manager" which was also the hostess apologized for the horrible service and said he would take $3 off the bill for the inconvenience. In the future I'll just grill my own steak at home. I recommend avoiding this place.

One thing I like about this establishment is the overall value of the dining experience. You can get an 18 to 20oz NY strip or T Bone for $34 with all you can eat salad bar. Generally Outback or Texas Roadhouse is less expensive, but you won't get as much to eat and this is a more unique dining experience. Even though the decor gives off 80's vibes, it it casual and comfortable. If you don't want to cook your own steak you can pay a little extra and have it cooked. Either way it is cooked over a charcoal grill. I'm glad I had it cooked because I watched and noticed technique in use which I would not have employed. The salad bar is not jumbo but it does feature potato salad and two pasta salads in addition to the usual salad bar offerings. In an unusual move the baked potatoes are available and kept hot on the salad bar, so it's possible to have more than one. A baked potato is served with the steak so if you have one from the salad bar you will be getting another.

I ordered the ribeye (Delmonico), which are supposed to be 16-18 oz and had it cooked by the chefs in order to make sure it was a perfect medium rare. When it came to the table, I thought wow, thats so thin and small but didn't say anything because I was with my Aunt and was busy chatting and cutting her steak. I requested medium-rare; one side was medium rare-medium, which was fine, but as I got half way in, the thickness was way thinner, and the steak was well done with zero pink. It was like leather. I took it home and weighed it, which was a little less than half my steak...doubtful only a third, but even if it were, it weighed 3.4 oz!!!! This was the half with most of the fat too. What chef decided it was ok to put a sandwich cut ribeye on a platter and serve it when a Delmonico Ribeye was ordered? I've had ribeye steak sandwiches thicker and bigger than this tiny piece of half leather. When we were leaving, I saw the man sitting next to us, who ordered a ribeye Delmonico, walk by with at least twice as thick and big as mine. Horrible quality control. However, I gave them a 2 because our Server was awesome. I am sure she would have returned it had I said something, but my aunt has Parkinson's disease, so I was busy cutting her steak before I could cut into mine when she returned to ask how everything was...definitely not her fault. Although, when I worked at a steakhouse, I would've questioned that steak going to customer for sure...still NOT blaming her. Oh, and the salad bar was fabulous. Lost this customer...and my fam. Note, the host/hostess were rude and acted like we were an inconvenience when we'd been waiting on the other side of their hideaway pillar. It took one of 3 waitress just standing around by the bar 3-4 minutes to make her way over and point out that the hostess was on the other side of the pillar. Isn't it the host hostesses job to watch the door when people come in? It was 4:30 and the place was empty. WTF? I wish we would've walked out and went to Frederick's!!

This is my 5th trip to Prime Quarter in 6 years and I am so glad this place survived. Please keep it going. For those of you not familiar, I'm going to give you the low down. You have roughly 3 price points. $31, $33, and $40 for a steak dinner. For $31 you pick your own and cook it yourself on the grill. For $33, Chef Josh will cook it for you. For $40 you split one steak with you dinner mate but you each get AYCE salad bar, baked potato, and Texas toast. They don't currently have appetizers but you really don't need them. To accompany your steak, you can also order a side of sautéed mushrooms and onions or burgandy button mushrooms. They have dessert but you will not have room for dessert. Be prepared for leftovers. This location reopened in early September 2021 after being shut down for 18 months. Go. Let's keep it open. As I mentioned earlier, chef Josh cooked for us. Our server, Bailey, took care of everything else. Love love love it. Good char on the steaks. It's like the American peoples version ofKorean BBQ except come together over the pit to grill unless you pay $2 extra bucks for their chef to do it. Steak Options. You pick your steak from the cooler if you cook ($31 option). If having chef cook it, they pick for you. RibeyeFilet mignonT-boneSkewersA few choices are also offered already pre- marinated in teriyaki. We went away to Madison with friends for the weekend. It was a nice dinner to have on the way back to Chicago. Restaurant is super clean. There is a full bar. For soft drinks, they serve Coke products.

The staff was fabulous the minute I walked in, restaurant was clean, bartender was amazing, drinks could not of been better. The food, could not of asked for better quality meats and it's great to see a true salad bar still available. 100% recommendation.

We went to Prime Quarter Janesville, Wisconsin for our anniversary. We were seated at a small table up in the dark corner by the exit on the upper dining floor south end. Seriously?? This table wasn't even big enough for our food dishes. It was claustrophobic sitting there. There wasn't an overhead light in this corner so it was quite dark at this little table. I have worked in restaurant for over 20 years and I would only use that table for silverware prep And menus. The picture shows that our plates are right on the edge on one side and hanging over on the other side. There's barely room for everything. Another problem was that ALL the chairs in the restaurant have armrests. Which is fine if you're not a larger person. If you are a heavier person, you have to literally perch on the edge of the chair And it's very uncomfortable. We asked for a chair without armrests and were told they all had them. ( If this is true or not we didn't go searching because an employee SHOULD know wether or not they have them)Lastly, we had a postcard type coupon that was supposed to give us $5 off each dinner. Our server didn't read the coupon and only gave us one discount for one meal. It is the responsibility of the manager to make sure all employees know about and understand how their coupons work. PERIOD. When she brought the bill we gave her the coupon and the debit card. When she came back, we were so uncomfortable and disappointed about the whole evening we didn't even argue about the missing discount. By that time, we just wanted to leave that dark cramped corner, so we took almost our whole meal home in a take home box. Driving back to Illinois our discussion was all about how miserable that dinner was. I have been going to Prime Quarter in Janesville for a few decades. Never have I ever had such an experience like that. COMFORT of diners should always be right up there with quality, and if you're a larger person squeezed into a chair with armrests, there is no comfort for you. Prime Quarter management...Larger people would like to enjoy your restaurant too. Get rid of half the chairs with armrests. p.s. I got the coupon for previously writing an amazing review from a birthday dinner almost 5 years ago And they don't expire so we saved them. Between medical crises and Covid, we hadn't been able to get there before this dinner.

Went to celebrate two family members birthdays, and the selection of steaks was lacking. There was only a few of bone in style steaks full of fat and grissle. We chose to cook out own steaks. Cooking them took forever, the coals didn't seem to be hot enough. Service was lacking. Barely seen our server, and when she did come around she took a long time to get what we asked for/ ordered. She didn't communicate well either. When she took the bill, she took a long time to come back with change, and then the tip was already added into the bill. The bill for two costs 70 and with the tip she gave herself was $98.50.....for two people. The steak was definitely old. The seasoning selection lacked. basically just salt/garlic/pepper. Chefs had all the seasoning containers covered in grissle from using tongs to grab them to spread seasonings on ones they were preparing. The salad bar was good though. Would definitely choose another steakhouse over the no choice in tip, overpriced, under weighed over fatty steaks here.
