What an upgrade from the past for Pops Pub! The Old Pioneer In it ain't!I nust admit that it had been some time since visiting this long established Muskego bar/restaurant location and I am glad we did.While still smallish inside, there seems to be quite a bit more outside seating for the warmer months.The star of the show is the smoked meat BBQ offerings. Wow - just wow!From the wings to the mac and cheese, come and eat here! You will be sad you didnt eat here sooner.

Good food, we like the burgers and pizza for casual meals. It can get a bit crowded, but they do warn you if there is a long wait for food.

BBQ is hard to come by in the metro Milwaukee area, and good BBQ is even harder to come by. This neighborhood pub churned out some of the best BBQ I've had in the area . Their smoked wings are fantastic, but the rub is just ever so slightly on the spicy side so fair warning. They also offer smoked corned beef which I've never had. The chef was very nice and came out to speak with us. The service was friendly and did a great job with our group of 10. They honor first responders and medical workers which is always a bonus. We will 100% be back! BBQ is an all day labor of love affair so get into Pop's and enjoy the hard work put in by this chef!

Lemon battered perch was not very good, potato pancakes were over cooked along with my curly looking steak fries. Fish fry, where tatar sauce is an extra charge??? Seriously. You can skip this one on a friday night. Small place and rather noisy. Paying 17 dollars for my fish I expect free sauce!!! Kind of a deal breaker.

Last night 9/29 Friday nt, stood around for 30min waiting for a table and then when we finally got seated, we were notified that it would be an hour before we get food... we abruptly got up and left while expressing our displeasure in not being notified sooner... TERRIBLE service How about frickin letting us know about the delay while we're standing there?!?! WTFF (what the flying F****)And we love the food here too... but we might not be back now.Do better.

This was going to be today's lunch and a cold cocktail on a warm summer day after work place. The place is only like a couple months old because its a new bar/restaurant in a former bar/restaurant place. As I drove in and around the building a wood smoker was smoking away so now I'm intrigued at what's in it. The place is ok and its very woody so not a dive at all and ann would be my server server today. They don't have a drink menu so I asked to recommend some cocktail that's cold and when she said raspberry margarita I was like yes please. The menu is small but she said that they will be adding more items as they go.The menu had ribs on it so I ordered a half rack with frys that includes coleslaw and corn bread. I must say that I liked everything in the rib dinner down to the tangy bbq sauce that I didn't use. The ribs smelled and looked good with a great bark. The ribs were fuc#ing delicious with an outstanding bark that fell clean off the bone with a nice smoke flavor. I'm so glad the sauce was on the side because I forgot to ask but the ribs need absolutely no sauce at all and the meat stands on it's own. The frys were perfect with a light crispy outside and a moist soft inside that was seasoned well. The cornbread was super fresh and moist that was perfect. The coleslaw was fresh with crisp veggies and not the sloppy creamy kind. The bbq sauce was very good also because it was tangy with a little kick to it.WOW I'm impressed because this is not a bbq restaurant but the quality will put a lot of them to shame. I'm so glad that I stopped by because they are definitely doing smoked ribs on point. I would definitely go back for a rib dinner.

I really, really want to like the food here and want to make this more of a regular spot but it just hasn't lived up to the hype. For one, their barbecue (any of it) always taste just a tad too dry, as if it's sat out or just wasn't taken off soon enough. I've had this happen across multiple meals (e.g., pulled pork, brisket). I also tried their wings and the dry rub is very spicy to the point where I couldn't even finish more than one wing and their sauces didn't help alleviate it at all. Others in my group agreed that the spice was abnormally hot for wings and had a hard time finishing. I will say the service here is usually very good and the drink selection is decent so I'll likely still come but stick to drinks.

We haven't been to this restaurant since it changed ownership. For starters, I ordered an Brandy old fashion, it came without any brandy. We each ordered a fish fry. Now I understand why the tables around us had everything but FF's delivered to their table. They were beyond terrible!! Hard, over fried breading, we scooped the oil saturated cod out of the hard shell. My stomach was gurgling a few minutes after we left. The marbled rye bread was dry, served with hard butter, unable to spread even on dry hard bread. Never again.
