Pioneer Bowl

Seems like Wisconsin has a ton of bowling alleys and they are all quite popular. This place is no exception. It's a smaller venue. But, the lanes seemed just fine. Typical computerized setup, shoe rental, and balls. It serves its purpose if you like to bowl. Half the establishment is a bar. So, I'd imagine it's a late night hang out for some people. But, when I was there (before 6), there were a few families and younger kids. Overall: I'd recommend this bowling alley if you're in the mood to bowl.

Get a ball and get out and roll.Bowling alleys are everywhere in Wisconsin and unlike the vast suburbs of Chicago I grew up in, the Wisconsin alleys have really nice bars.My rating of this place is based mainly on the lanes. The bar and food are OK, but the lanes are very nice.I like Pioneer bowl because it is bowling first, not kids parties first. The lanes are well maintained and waxed regularly. If you do not have your own ball and shoes, this might not be the greatest choice as they have a limited supply of just OK gear, but seriously, you live in Wisconsin... You have no excuse for not having a ball. It is kind of like winter boots and an abused liver, it's the cost to get in the dance.The food here is questionable at best. All frozen and just heated up. Pizza is passable. The tap beer selection is just OK but the mixed drinks are done well. Served in clean glasses and well made.I would probably go 3.5 if allowed, but will give the nudge up to 4 based on the obscenely liberal pours on neat and on the rocks drinks here.

Not only were the drinks a difference price depending on who served you, they were stupid expensive- $8 for a single RAIL vodka lemonade

I ate there for the first time and I could not believe that the waitresses added their own tip on top of my credit card bill. I left a cash tip and they added a twenty percent tip besides. Server 10 is what was listed on my bill.
