Pilcrow Coffee

Ever since moving to Milwaukee from Minnesota last year, I was on the hunt for a coffee shop that offers iced coffee flights to replace my go-to spot up in Minneapolis, and Pilcrow was my answer! This coffee shop switches out their cold brew flights on a monthly basis, which keeps me coming back for more. (Yes, they only do cold coffee flights, not hot.) They always have seasonally-inspired flavors: In September, the flight included pecan pie, brown sugar maple, apple pie and pumpkin cold brews; and in October, Butterfinger, cookies & cream, "Bucks in Twix" and Heath bar. I have enjoyed 98% of every flavor of cold brew that I've tried at Pilcrow, and I'm pretty picky with my coffee! They have a fridge full of bottled, flavored cold brews in case you want to purchase one (or three) bottles to go for future days. If you become a Pilcrow fan, they also have cute merch to browse too. Parking is a little bit funky around Pilcrow, but I've never personally had a problem finding a spot. Usually, I can park right in front of the cafe so I can see my car from my table inside, which I appreciate. The cafe itself has lots of sunlight shining in, which makes it a desirable place to work, plus plenty of plug-ins and Wi-Fi to use.

Pilcrow has a comfy cozy coffee shop vibe with couch seating as well as regular tables. Their monthly coffee flights are so fun and delicious! I love that they also serve them to go in their fridge in the back. They also have one of the best creamy cold brews!

I ordered a flight (who doesn't love a coffee flight!?) and all of these drinks were delightful. Very sweet, no bitterness at all.The ham and cheese croissant was delightful - fluffy, crunchy and the ham and cheese were balanced (& it was warmed to perfection.) The inside was clean, lots of seating, but very busy. I wish there was a little more attention to the acoustics because it's VERY loud but popped in my headphones and that wasn't an issue any longer. Parking is a bit tricky but that's to be expected anywhere in MKE anymore. All of the employees I encountered were kind and helpful. I'd come back!

We visited this shop a second time so that a visiting family member could taste the flavored coffee flight. To avoid the unpleasant sour taste that I experienced with my espresso last time, I asked if one of the coffee beans was less sour and was told that the blended coffee would be less "fruity" than the single-origin (Ethiopian) coffee. This turned out to be true, as the espresso I got this time was significantly less sour than the one I got last time. Each of us also ordered a pastry item (almond croissant, sausage puff, and asparagus and prosciutto puff). The shop heats up the pastry in a commercial grade convection microwave oven, making it warm and soft. The pastry, after being warmed up slightly, did taste very good. So, our second visit to the shop certainly gave me a better experience than our first.

I love Pilcrow Coffee. For starters, it's simply tough to come by coffee shops with latte and/or nitro brew flights. It's another to offer flights and do it right. Pilcrow is a spotlight on social media with aesthetic flights, plant decor corners, and an approachable counter for ordering one (or few) drinks. We ordered the nitro brew flight with their seasonal flavors: ree says puffs, coconut cream pie, campfire s'mores, french toast. My most favorite of the set was the coconut cream pie for it's layers of coconut, tender sweetness, and a bitter undertone of coffee. The french toast was another hit, however, it swings on the more sweeter side. The campfire s'mores drink takes you right back to moments by a bonfire which highlights the summer vibe of this flight. I'll definitely be back to try more of their flights! They're bold, curious, and exciting flavors that are worth trying. For people that studying at coffee shops: there's maybe 1-2 outlets around the cafe; great selection of music, at least when I was there; when it's peak hours, it starts to get a bit loud. Amazing spot to get work done at, I'll definitely be back!

Pilcrow is a cute coffee shop. I arrived right at opening. This was a good study spot until the crowd picked up. Only downside is--i only found one outlet! If you're trying to study here, you must come with your stuff fully charged. Overall, a nice change of scenery from my usual study spot.

Pilcrow is known for their cold brew and I understand why! Their creamy cold brews are made with cold brew, oatly oat milk and house-made syrup. Could anything be better??I loved the cinnamon roll and thought the toppings made it even more fun! I would probably get the 12 oz instead of the 16oz next time. It was very sweet and I couldn't finish the last few sips. However, the flavor was delicious!! I love how they offer monthly flight options with changing flavors. We will definitely be back to check out the flights. We went on a Saturday morning and there was a continuous line the whole time (almost an hour and a half). So, clearly other people enjoy Pilcrow as well.

These guys were great. Friendly service, excellent music choices, not to mention delicious coffee. They have good local maple syrup you can add into your brew for a unique taste. They also serve pastries.

The coffee here is amazing, I can't believe I didn't try this place sooner. I tried a small hot latte. The temperature was perfect, I could drink it right away. It was super smooth and balanced. The baristas know what they are doing and were really quick. I also tried one of their specialty cold brews, the Circus animal cookie cold brew. It was good. I tasted a little bit of animal cookies but mainly just sweetness. When I went in it was really busy, kind of hard to find a seat. It was also a little cold. It is a super modern and plain space. I would definitely go again.

Always a good time here. Ambiance is great for socializing on weekends and work during the week. Super fast service even comparably on weekends when the line is almost out the door. Always friendly staff. My classic is a sweet and creamy and cinnamon roll but all their foods are great imo. Can be kid friendly but doesn't have lots of kids in it usually, but we always feel welcome when we bring ours. Prices are as expected and may be more affordable than other places depending on where you go. Definitely worth the money and supporting the local businessCheck out their thrifting too!!!
