Full disclosure - I havent been to Periwinkle's in person and until yesterday, did not know they exsited. But today, I know! Why? Because I just finished my 'Scrumdiddlyumptious' piece of Blueberry Rhubarb Pie that I took home from a nearby burger business that sells Periwinkle's bakery. The piece of pie was so good, my fingers had to race to my keyboard to share the love.I must admit I have never had blueberry rhubarb pie. Of course i have had rhubarb pie, strawberry rhubarb pie....but never blueberry rhubarb. Well, I am now hooked. The crust - expertly prepared. The filling - perfect. Crumb top - buttery, firm, crunchy. Whole thing - so good, it's gone.If this single piece of bakery is indictive of the rest of the Periwinkle fare (as the other reviews suggest), then stop in. I know I will be.

Righting thingsI had a less than stellar experience with slices years back when they had retail at the bakery but since then I've gotten a few full cakes instead. Order from the bakery, pickup at the deli next door. I think having the bakery items at the deli makes for better foot traffic thus it's better for all. Every time I've been to the deli I've wanted to leave with one of everything in the bakery case - in addition to a cake.

Visiting from California, picked up a cake last- minute for Father's Day. I've enjoyed desserts in patisseries in Budapest, Vienna, Paris and more. The torte was exquisite. Real butter cream like I've never tasted. My guests were beyond impressed. Every time I visit, I will be there. Customer for life. Thank you!

We had maxed out our usual delivery places, so I told one of my colleagues to order from Rochester Deli and I would go pick it up. As I walked toward Rochester, I noticed the new bakery next door. Inside the deli, they had cards for the bakery and as I was talking with the cashier she had mentioned that the bakery is owned by the same ladies that bake the desserts for Rochester, but the kitchen at Rochester is a bit too small so they expanded. I was told that the Turtle Brownie was one to check out.So I decided to just pop in before heading back to the office with lunch. As I walked in, the first things I saw were donuts and bread (Banana Bread maybe). I overheard the young lady behind the counter telling the other people in there that they had been open since October and were doing pretty well. They do have a cooler with drinks, but also have whole pies and cakes for your purchasing delight.I turned my focus to the cookies, bars, and brownies. Some of the items looked familiar to what is at Rochester, but I did see the HUGE Turtle Brownies. I also saw the mini Turtle Cheesecakes with a chocolate covered strawberry on top. What made me decide to purchase one of each... the price! The brownie was $2.50 and the Mini Cheesecake (I will upload a picture) was $4.50. What a bargain! The brownie was for my colleague, but she did offer me a piece. Wow was it rich! I didn't taste much of the caramel, but there must have been something a bit fruity in the display case because it had picked up the flavor of something else. The cheesecake... it looked lovely! The strawberry was very tasty. I decided to behave and cut the mini cheesecake like a regular cake with small wedges. I had one small wedge tonight. While I'm not sure why it was labeled Mini Turtle Cheesecake (there was chocolate on the cheesecake, but no caramel or nuts), it was smooth and rich. I am kind of glad that there wasn't much else on the cheesecake because I think it would have been too much! I really hope to go back to the bakery to try more goodies :)

I ordered the Chocolate Torte and Lemon Poppyseed Torte for my nieces baby shower. They were FANTASTIC. Such flavor and so moist! The buttercream frosting is spectacular. I live on the east coast and I can't get cake like this. Especially frosting like this. Everyone LOVED these cakes. I can't wait to try the pies for Thanksgiving when I come home to visit. I was already planning my next order, it was that good. Oh, I also bought a lemon bar because I read about them in the reviews..WOW. Best lemon bars I ever had.

I am giving this place 4 stars because I love the location and find it quaint inside. I am a bit of a bakery snob, so I can't rate the bakery above a 3.75 as I can taste that cheaper oils/shortening are used to make the desserts. That being said, I always order bakery here:)I do enjoy stopping in every so often, and like the soup and bread.
