Quite an assortment of sweets. There's some drinks and coffee as well. Lots of dinner rolls, there's deals if you buy a couple. I bought 3 sweet breads, 2 savory and 1 tres leches. The breads were alright. The cake was a big slice, a little dense but still a little moist. Didn't really feel like a tres leches but not bad at all. Still a good slice of cake. Total ~$10. Employee was friendly and helpful.

I love a local and family owned panaderia! Fair prices and great selection. I am not very familiar with Mexican pastries so I really cannot tell if it is authentic or what the items really are. However!! I do know if something tastes good to me.I came on a Thursday morning around 7:45AM and there was a pretty good selection of goodies! For breakfast, I'm more of a savory person but like to add in a bit of sweetness if I have coffee. I bought two items for myself. A guava pastry (empanada? maybe?) and a ham & chipotle one. Like I said, I am not well versed in Mexican pastries so I really did not know what I was grabbing and only knew the flavor profiles from the name cards. The two pastries costed me $2.50! You really cannot beat that price. The ham and chipotle pastry was HUGE, had a small kick, and filled with a decent amount of ham. Definitely recommend this. The guava pastry had a harder outer crust but got softer once you hit the spots with the guava jam. Very sweet jam with a slight hint of guava. Felt like I had to dig a bit on my tongue to taste the guava, but great ratio of jam to pastry. They also had a ton more sweet flavors for this type of pastry and will definitely be back to try the rest. FYI - Minimum $5 purchase for credit card and mask required for entry!

Reminded me of a little bakery back in the motherland. Clean, great service, amazing variety of Pan dulce and Tress leches pastel. The pan is fresh and delicious. You will not regret it.

If you are looking for authentic tamales, look no further! My coworker brought some for lunch and they were devoured in an instant! We had chicken and it was very filling! I would highly recommend visiting this location!

I was driving around the south side with my pops, and we decided that it was time to get some pan dulce so went over to El Sol De Mexico to grab some sweets. Walking in the door you feel you feel you've entered a small town bakery in Mexico or a barrio bakery in Chicago. When I was a kid on the south side, pan dulce was hard to come by and came by van from Chicago on the weekends. This stuff was hard to get. There were some local bakeries, but the stuff from Chicago always beat the Milwaukee boys into oblivion. When I lived in Chicago, my father would come down with orders from friends and neighbors and we would buy dozens and dozens of pan dulce treats. Back then pan dulce was a quarter. You can expect to pay more these days. Ok, so I knew this place was going to be good as soon as we walked in. You can see people working through the window and it might be a baker who helps you. The prices are a bit varied, but the quality is good. Now this isn't a Bleeding Heart Organic Bakery in Chicago (so don't expect $4 Vegan cupcakes), but an authentic place for traditional Mexican pan dulce. The selection is far more limited than the spectacular bakeries of Pilsen in Chicago, but if you need some sweet bread with your coffee, this is the place. There is easy street parking and a 2 bike city bike rack out front. The sun of Mexico shines some nice light on this place!

The bakery is self serve, please wear the plastic gloves supplied. The bread with the custard in is awesome, especially warm. For $5.00 you can get a bag of mixed or same bakery and it is all good. Spanish is spoken here so know that when you visit. Very friendly cashiers and Baker's. Many breads, pastries and cookies, all delicious. Take in mind most Mexican bakery is not overly sweetened like the American versions. Add a cup of coffee and this is a good way to start your day and stop in after lunch or dinner.
